teenageninja
Well according to my sup this morning, DoT is no more. A few of the other sups also knew about it, so DoT is officially gone already. Don't ask why, or how, but DoT is not opening for the rest of the season, as far as I know.
DeLorean Rider
This is so stupid, the only good movie they've had since the ride has ever been there they take out. I know that all the management at Kings Island reads these posts and i must say that that is a really bad move. Secreats of the lost temple, Smash Factory, heck even Meteor attack at least stayed till the end of the summer.
dxrunner
I'm with Nick...bad move...Best movie in AT was Days of Thunder, hands down no questions asked and they are getting rid of it? What gives?
carpetarson
Man why couldn't the have waited a week to make this decision. This was def on my must ride list. but no they had to go and close it very upset about this. i would really like an answer on why the closed
crosscountry4891
what?! are you serious? i never got to ride it! DoT was the best movie that has ever been in AT! this is terrible!
DeLorean Rider
Im so glad i got my riding in cause i rode it many times in a row to committ it to memory. Still though i think they should have kept it. The reason it was so cool was cause it was the only realistic show they have ever had. PKI Homey
I agree that Days of Thunder is the best movie that they have had in Action Theatre. I saw the James Bond style of movie and it just was not nearly as good. So, what is playing in there now?
coastermike
What a disapointment. I'm going to be at PKI tomorrow afternoon and all day Saturday and I was really looking forward to Days of Thunder because it is my favorite Action Theatre ride as well. Metal Metor 200WP MAN
I'm also in agreence with every one else. Out of every movie at AT, Days of Thunder is hands down the best. It's real unfortunate that most of us posting, were unable to ride it in it's short stint. Hopefully management will hear us and rethink this decision and at the least, have it for the rest of the season.
PKI Homey
Coastermike, could you see what is playing in AT and then post it back here? I am interested to see what they are going to replace it with.
coastermike
I'd be glad to.
adbort
I doubt it will be replaced by anything. But even though this is sad news, I can kinda see why. When I was in the park on June 5th no one was riding it. So they see it as a waste of employees to operate it if no one is wanting to ride it. Think of how much money the park will save from payroll, and from not running the ride. But this is sad news. We could all send PKI an e-mail and letting them know we are disapointed that it's closed.
teenageninja
I wouldn't count on another movie beign added on side B. Sorry guys, I guess the costs didn't outweigh the benefits.
PKIDelirium
this sucks! oh well, At least i got to ride it once! I have an idea: lets raise hell about this at BeastBuzz when there are park execs to hear us!
chaotichazard
This really ****es me off and i didnt' even have a chance to ride it.
coasterbilly
man my heart jumped when i saw this topic name, already? This is very shocking, such a popular ride among us enthusiasts and they close it, have to question this decision by PKI.
DegenRider
Not really. Out of the 10's of thousands of guests who come into the park daily did they ride the ride. It looks like they did not ride it. Looks like it was terribly un popular and it was easy to axe.
Tanner
Yea PKI did such a great job advertising the ride. Even if it is old they could have advertised it in some way instead of having it back in a corner. Did they try? I haven't been to the park since and was wondering. How can they close something they've never tried to promote to get the ridership?
adbort
I still think we should all complain about this. PKI did no promotion of this at all. The only way people actually knew if Days of Thunder was back if they actually went to Action Theater. Why didn't PKI promote this. I think if they promoted this, more people who have rode it. pkidude03
I was at PKI the first week of June and I was hoping to ride Days of Thunder. To my surprise it was closed.. so I went to Carowinds the next week to ride it & they had it running. I got to ride it once and hardly anyone was riding it there either! So if they took it out of PKI they probably took it out of Carowinds as well & perhaps other Paramount Parks that had it. I really liked Days of Thunder! It was the only reason I made the special trek to Action Theater... otherwise I skip it because I don't care much for it. This is tragic! I was going to ride Days of Thunder again on my next trip to PKI!
stephenmayes
They say ridership was very low...but heck...that whole ride sucks...no offense to you employees who work there...The only reason it gets ridden at all is b.c. of the Spongebob movie and he is like a cult leader over all kids... I say tear down AT and build another Huss Flat
StXBomber
Even though I was able to get 3 rides on it, I am sad. I really enjoyed riding it. I say close Spongebob! I hate that movie anyway, and on one day I was there it had as long of a line as DoT! I don't get people who don't see a good ride when it's right in front of them... RyanA
Yeah, I went up to PKI the first week of June on Friday, hoping to ride it(I've ridden every FX Theater ride except this one)and to my dissapointment, it was closed. Maybe we can persuade them to let us ride it at Beastbuzz .
Columbus coasternut
I rode DOT a few weeks ago and loved it but when i was waiting in que there were proubly only a dozen or so pepole waiting to ride and the wait for sponge bob was close to a 45 min wait I think they did a poor job of advertizing that it was even back and with no advertizement means no riders Pki brought this one on themselves how many kids now days even know what DOT was I thought it would be around all season expecially with the nascar craze that is going on sorry to see it go
coasterbilly
wow what a long sentence lol . Seriously though, i didn't know DoT was returning until i read these boards, never heard anything about it anywhere else, i would've liked to! dxrunner
Actually I wouldnt be surprised if they just didnt take out AT at the end of the season, hardly anyone goes back there anymore and i mean they already shut down one side so why not just remove it completely?
PKI_Man
The first time i saw it, this year, i stood in the theater for like 35 minutes to indulge my childhood memory......sadly they took it out, so much for Secrets of the lost temple (it sucked horribly)
PKIDelirium
35 minutes? wow. I only waited 20 minutes, and that was with a breakdown!
jlopez
this makes me so mad, I was wondering why it wasnt open, I was really looking forward to riding it when I went this past weekend.
Return_of_Yogi
personally i think it blew. I rode it and hated it. Short, choppy, and kinda dumb. maybe they should format the IMAX Nascar movie or somthing. or just not put Nascar in a darn good park. left turn...........left turn..........left turn......right turn WRECK!
