^I did the same thing in elementary school. None of the other rides were open, only the monorail, and of course we learned about the animals. Come to think of it, that was my first of many, many times being in the park when it's closed.

I was in grade school in the 80s and we took field trips probably every month or two! I remember going to the zoo, camping trips,KI,museums, local parks, even remember going to a pizza place and a movie once.Geeze, kids dont get to do nothing anymore, its sad. I didnt grow up rich either,my school district was below average as far as finances, but we had fun going to school and was rewarded well when we achieved good grades.

At my grade school the 8th grade class always had a big Kings Island trip at the end of the year, when I was in 5th grade the switched it to a COSI trip. By the time I was in the 8th grade the trip was a half day at a local park, but that's life.

I'm not going to name any names, but when my brother's class had their 8th grade trip to KI, one kid's parents were so strict, they wouldn't allow him to go, because school was for studying, not trips and fun. We all liked him, he was a great person, and the smartest kid in school.

The eighth grade homeroom teacher took him anyway, he went to the park still in his school uniform, and at three o'clock, the teacher and he left in time for him to be back at the school for his parents to pick up.

From what I understood, the parents never found out. I learned something important from him that day. The other kids were staying til the fireworks, but he had to leave early. They asked if that bothered him. He said it didn't, that you enjoy things more when you know you have a limited amount of time.

I live by that credo.

Sounds like he truly *was* the smartest kid in school! :D

My school is too poor to go anywhere. :P

Don't you go to Moller? Now Colerain, that's a poor school!

Yes, I go to Moeller. We don't have a lot of money - since it's a private school, Moeller makes its own money (which isn't a lot) - plus they already pay for a LOT. Every week it seems like there's some type of fundraiser or way to give the school money!

Well you can thank the change in education for all of that. As budgets get cut and funding is linked more and more to test scores, things that are not deemed important to fixing the test scores are cut. Sports/Shop/Art/Field Trips. Right wrong or indifferent, when you school has test scores that are failing, they lose money. Money gets taken away and something needs to get cut.

My high school took our senior trip to Kings Island back in 2000. Some of us thought it would be a good idea to bring some "party favors" in a pinchy box. We got caught before we got on the first ride, and since it was in my hands when we got caught I took the rap and got booted from the park. I had to sit outside and ride around on the trams for six hours until the rest of my class came out, which sucked but I was ok as long as school didnt find out(I didnt tell security I was on a school trip). Well we made back with no teachers aware, but come Monday sure enough someone had spilled the beans. I was expelled from school with only a few days remaining in my senior year! Had to re-do a trimester in the fall. And that was my first trip to Kings Island. And I'm sure it was a school disapointment!

Sorry about that man! I remember in middle school we went for math and science day (to bad the high school didnt). There was always that kid who did a dumb dare and got escorted by Kings Island employees/security.

My school district had an annual KI trip for students in the 8th grade... up until my 8th grade year. I was able to still go, as I was in NJHS and we planned a "going away" trip or something.

My class always seems to get the worst of any class. All the classes before us get a bunch of fun stuff while we don't get those, and then the classes after us get more academic-related stuff (like weighted honors classes- they should have always been this way to be honest). Next year, I'll be a senior, and seniors usually don't have to take finals if they have perfect attendance; I'm afraid that this will be the last year they do this though, because that's just how it always works. But that rumor is always going around, so... I don't know.

There's my rant for the day/month/year.

My class is lucky this year because if we get proficient on the OGT, we get to exempt our final for that specific class. Our class is the only class that gets to do that because I guess they're changing the OGT next year.

Does anyone else wonder why exactly this is in the Kings Island criteria? I think it would go just right at the Off-Topic area. I remember many, many field trips, COSI, Space Camp, Cincy Zoo, Union Terminal even, it was all fun, I miss field trips really it was a fun day while actually learning something, ironically I remember learning more in a day on a field trip than a day at the school.

Congratulations sir, you won.

Sorry to resurrect this topic, but I would like to notify you (not that you care).

After much protest, and potations we have resurrected the Kings Island Trip.

Potations? The act of drinking, usually alcohol.

Really?

I'm guessing he means petitions.
