January 29, 201313 yr For I would say the last eleven years the sixth grade at my school, at the end of the year would go to Kings Island. For the first year they have canceled. I am quite disappointed, for many reasons: 1. I don't get to to Kings Island during a school day 2. Some of the people are going to miss out on going to the most wonderful park on earth 3. I was looking forward to going with my friend that I would other wise probably not get to Kings Island with I know, I know funds are getting cut. BUT in the previous years the student(or parents of the student) would pay for the ticket and help pay for the transportation. I am not upset that I don't get to go to Kings Island (well kind of, but not really), but it aways seemed as I looked up since like second grade as it would be very nice experience to spent with some of my closest friends. After going with there of my friends to the haunt I verified. Has any thing happened in your school (yes I understand that most of you are older((sorry))) or happenED.
January 29, 201313 yr Wow, you are in 6th grade? There are a lot of members on this site that are super young, and surprise me with how decent their posts are. I don't want to think what my posts would have been like at 6th grade.
January 29, 201313 yr We had our fifth grade trip to Kings Island cut. I was looking forward to that since first grade. At least our district will still allow the three middle schools' eighth graders to go to Kings Island on the last day, which I appreciate. Kind of a "going away gift" so to speak.
January 29, 201313 yr I went to KI with my 8th grade class, in 2007 lolThey have since stopped taking the trip.
January 29, 201313 yr I'm in 8th grade, and haha, it was just announced today that we are going. But, I'm sorry to hear that....... you should just skip school one day to go............
January 29, 201313 yr Last year in eight grade we went and it was probably the most fun I have had at K.I. because most of the people i was with don't go there often.
January 29, 201313 yr While in grade school I got to go on many field trips but never to Kings Island. Highschool I never even went on a single field trip while most students got to go on at least one or two. I guess I just picked the wrong classes.
January 29, 201313 yr My class went to Kings Island in 5th and 8th grade (last time I rode Son of Beast with the loop actually), and Cedar Point in 12th.
January 29, 201313 yr My school is too poor to go anywhere. Same here. Haven't has a field trip since the last time we had a snow day.
January 29, 201313 yr Field trips got cut a long time ago where I attend, and eventually a trip to Kings Island for school isn't so important as I often go to the park with those I would spend the day with anyway. Now if our school cut a trip to Cedar Point, that'd be unfortunate!
January 29, 201313 yr At my middle school, the 7th graders would go to Put in Bay and the 8th graders would go to Cedar Point. They've cancelled the 7th grade trip but the 8th graders still go to Cedar Point.

They've cancelled the 7th grade trip but the 8th graders still go to Cedar Point. Just for my gifted Language Arts class went to Put in Bay, and Stone Lab(Ohio State's fresh water out post) for a couple of days. We never go to Cedar Point, and I guess we won't go to Kings Island either, although you can see Cedar Point from the top of Perry's Monument.
January 29, 201313 yr At my high school, which I know is the second biggest in Ohio, no matter which grade you are in (9-12), you will go to Kings Island depending on the classes you are in. Usually being Math and Science classes. Also, in my middle school the entire eighth grade would go.
January 29, 201313 yr I was homeschooled during middle school, so I had yearly school trips (involving all the school staff, no less--my parents went, too. ) There was some sort of deal our family would get on day-specific one-day tickets annually, so that's when we would go.
January 29, 201313 yr I remember very clearly in 5th grade, my dad let me skip school on my birthday, and he took me to Kings Island. I rode Vortex over and over and through the corkscrews, I would scream "this is way better than school!!"
January 29, 201313 yr In my system, most of the trips don't exist anymore. In 4th grade we went to Sea World, In 6th to GoodTimes (a go cart and putt putt place), and in 8th grade to Geauga Lake's (sfwoa in my day). All of those places no longer exist. Maybe it was a good thing my physics teacher canceled our trip to CP my senior year (he realized we all had passes).
January 29, 201313 yr My school is too poor to go anywhere. Don't you go to Moller? Now Colerain, that's a poor school!
January 29, 201313 yr once we had a school trip take use to Rumpkee.. No joke... rode around in a school bus and looked at dump.... however I did learn about methane release...
January 29, 201313 yr In 4th grade we took 5, yes 5, trips to the Neil Armstrong museum. I think one would have been enough!
January 29, 201313 yr I'm not going to name any names, but when my brother's class had their 8th grade trip to KI, one kid's parents were so strict, they wouldn't allow him to go, because school was for studying, not trips and fun. We all liked him, he was a great person, and the smartest kid in school. The eighth grade homeroom teacher took him anyway, he went to the park still in his school uniform, and at three o'clock, the teacher and he left in time for him to be back at the school for his parents to pick up. From what I understood, the parents never found out. I learned something important from him that day. The other kids were staying til the fireworks, but he had to leave early. They asked if that bothered him. He said it didn't, that you enjoy things more when you know you have a limited amount of time. I live by that credo.

Somewhere in High School we took a trip to Kings Island. And we went to Stone Lab/Put In Bay for a week, one of the best trips I had.

You could never do something like that now. That is opening yourself up to too many potential lawsuits. If the teacher did do it recently, and the parents ever find out, its his licensure for sure...
January 29, 201313 yr Man I feel lucky, my 8th grade class went to Chicago, Washington D.C and Kings Island!
January 29, 201313 yr We always went to D.C. in eighth grade instead. Unless you were in choir, then you'd go for a competition.
January 29, 201313 yr I remember taking a field trip back in elementary school to KI to ride the monorail through the wild animal habitat. We didn't stay to ride any of the rides, we just went to see the animals. Now that was a long time ago!
