eastcoasterdue, welcome to KIC! The Beast tunnel lights generally aren't on. Sometimes, the lights are turned on by maintenance inspecting track and they simply forget to turn the lights off. When I rode last year they weren't on. Hope this helps.

A word of the wise, night rides can be 100% different from day rides, same goes for morning rides during the fall, that is when a few Beast enthusiasts ride it more often than usual, like myself. I have only been on one "night light" run and it wasn't really anything new, just was something I didn't expect to see, it almost felt like a 80's music video..

My first rides on Voyage were in the dark of night at Holiwood Nights and I hadn't even let myself look at pics. I had no clue what was going on after the 3rd hill until the next day. Words connote describe such coolness!

There have been several periods where maintenance has been very annoying about leaving the lights on. If memory serves, some of them were put on a timer at some point while I worked there in 2011, but I don't remember for sure which ones. I'm thinking it was the helix lights. I hate it when they leave the ones in the graveyard tunnel on.

I have seen the lights on in the tunnel a couple of times and it really does kind of make it lose it mysterious aura. I wish they would turn out the light that is on in I believe either the center or hanging off the tunnel wall and lighting the area in the final helix. Just make that pitch black dark would be fine with me.

^The other light I hate is the one just after tunnel 2 while you are hugging the ground. The orange glow it gives off doesn't compliment the ride experience.

While we're at it, can we get the first drop dark too? :)
