AZ Kinda Guy
With the addition of IJ, does anyone know if the Floral Clock will stay in its current position? Will it be moved or will it be removed all together? That thing is a staple of the park and it would be very sad to see it go.
RyanA
Considering that the floral clock only takes up about a 10ft. by 15 ft. space I don't see why the would be removed. I could be wrong though.
TheSnapper
It wont be removed because if they remove that it will be the day I will never go back to PKI. And that really make Kings Island so special is the clock and the tower looking over it. Its broken now though its kinda funny!
TheKlockster
You would never go back to PKI if they got rid of the clock? I could see if they got rid of the fliers or something but the clock?
stephenmayes
Snapper are you allright there buddy??? You wouldn't go back to the park if they got rid of a freaking clock??? Man I was upset when they removed KC but I still came back to the park. You sound like a sad person...do u need a hug? Tiny
PKI Homey
^Agreed. No floral clock sounds like a poor excuse for not coming back to PKI.
SOB_TOM
Comeon! No floral clock! Park attendance would drop by at least 1 million/year! *sarcasm* Bad excuse never to come back, but hey, if you stand there all day staring at the clock, than one less in the line for IJ. Hoskins123
I like the clock more then flyers
TheKlockster
This just in. Administrative officials of Paramount's Kings Island, a theme park about fourty-five minutes from Cincinnati, Ohio, were stoned to death after they released shocking news at a press conference. It was announced that in addition to the dastardly removal of the Antique Car ride, their twenty foot floral clock will be removed to make room for a new state-of-the art movie-themed roller coaster based on the Paramount Pictures movie The Italian Job. Only moments after the unveiling of the news, pieces of spoiled fruit as well as small stones (and some large ones) found themselves airborne. Two members of the admin were killed, and police have apprehended six suspects. One disgruntled park guest commented "Those idiots! Every year my family and I make a pilgrimage from Petrozovodsk, Siberia just to see that floral clock. It has inspired generations of Chekovs!" Due to such pressure, Paramount officials have decided to cancel construction on the Italian Job, restore the Antique Cars and leave the floral clock in place. Just joking, I made that up - I was feeling creative. But I doubt the clock will go - it is small, and its nice to be able to check what time it is. As I make my rounds, I use it frequently to see what I have time to ride and dont. But even if they do get rid of it, that wouldnt be cause to not visit the park. Even if they got rid of scooters, my favorite flat, I would be sad but I would still go. Sorry if I alarmed anybody, I was just giving you a hard time! PS - Im a lurker now!!! Whatever that means! eagles81
While not visiting the Park because the clock was removed is silly, I would be incredibly sad to see it go. It seems that with each year, a small part of the true Kings Island vanishes. The Antique Car location was my favorite area of the Park. It was beautiful with all the trees and lakes. Regardless of how many trees they *try* to spare.....its still going to be nothing but concrete. :-( Oh well, guess its time to accept that the amazing Park that Kings Island used to be is now gone. Time to embrace the new Kings Island. I have no problem with the direction that the Park is headed, but its still sad to see the things of your childhood memories disappear in front of your eyes. - Todd, looking forward to the Italian Job and hoping that the clock stays put
PKI_Diana
Maintenance, for what they are worth, has told me, Tower Supervisor, that the floral clock will be making its last tick.... IE: It will not return in 05. We shall see how reliable they are.
Hoskins123
Wow why dont they just take down the tower to. haha actually I could care less
TheKlockster
Maintenance, for what they are worth, has told me, Tower Supervisor, that the floral clock will be making its last tick.... IE: It will not return in 05. We shall see how reliable they are. Do you actually work on the tower? As in do you go up the elevator and give that little spiel about not dropping things and all that? I think I might have seen you the last couple times I went to the park. Maybe not. But there was a girl - I didnt pay attention to the name - but she is about 5'7 or so, long blond hair, wears a white pki shirt that bears an UNCANNY resemblance to a girl who I used to work with about a year ago at Staples 456 in Anderson. I just remember cause I thought it was her, and was going to say hi, but her name was different. Oh well, dont know if that was you or not, just wondering. A trip to PKI isnt complete without a trip up the tower! Unless youre like me and go sometimes for two or three hours after work and dont have time cause youre hustleing around the park to make it onto all your favorite rides before they close! I didnt even notice the clock till like my fourth time going!
PKI_Diana
Do you actually work on the tower? As in do you go up the elevator and give that little spiel about not dropping things and all that? I think I might have seen you the last couple times I went to the park. Maybe not. But there was a girl - I didnt pay attention to the name - but she is about 5'7 or so, long blond hair, wears a white pki shirt yes, I actually work on the tower, giving that spiel, working on top and down below. I'm 5'8 with blonde hair, that goes just past my ears, I'm a bit on the chunky side, although anyone worth a grain of salt cares, with green eyes. And yes, as a supervisor, I wear a white shirt with a blue collar. I have never worked at a Staples, so I don't think I'm who you were looking for, even if the description matches. TheSnapper
I would go back to the park but it wouldnt be the same. The Floral clock is more than just a clock its been there forever and those little things like the fountians and the flowers that say todays date on them and the clock are apart of PKI and should always be. The clock is the only kind that I ve ever seen and know of. SO I would go back buit it wouldnt be the same. Now if they got rid of scooters then Id go to the park maybe 2 times a year
TheKlockster
I knew you werent the girl I worked with at Staples cause her name was Lisa. You just look a lot alike. I mean ALOT alike. But people tell me all the time that there is another person who lives in northern Cincinnati who looks just like me. So maybe everybody has a look-alike out there! Heres a question - whats the second elevator for?
PKI Homey
For jumping off only....
TheKlockster
So its for the base jumpers or people who want to pay out the ears to reenact that scene in TR2 where they jump off the building with those flying suits?
Hoskins123
Wow that last post had to be a joke
TheKlockster
Ziggy says theres a 95% chance that was a joke. Actually it was. I know nobody jumps off of it. It would be fun though!
PKI Homey
I would try it. Actually, it's for difficult guests. Ride-ops and employees are encouraged to push anyone off the tower that is a real pain.
gabelogan99
It wont be removed because if they remove that it will be the day I will never go back to PKI Here are a few things that, if the park removed, I would not make another trip to PKI: smurfcones, the old Phatom Theater building, the Forrest Gump bench, the Rivertown pond, the elephant fountain, Son of Beast, Festhaus, and Eiffel Tower.
PKI Punk
Son of Beast ?!?!?You actually LIKE SOB?!?!? I would have a party and celebrate if the park got rid of SOB!
athf_S3
If the floral clock is removed it doesn't matter me everytime I passed it the clock was either wrong or not working.
PKI Homey
I hear ya athf_S3. I never really paid any attention to the time as much as it is just a pleasant site to look at. I also have to go with gabelogan99 that Son of Beast is a great ride. I wouldn't quit going to the park if they removed it, but I would be disappointed. As a matter of fact, PKI would really have to do something extreme for me not to go there any more. It would have to be a better reason than the floral clock or the antique cars being removed or doing away with the campground. I could think of worse things they could do. SOB_TOM
The old PT building? You mean Haunted Castle? Just kinda odd that someone would call it something like that.
coasterdime
I, too, will be saddened when the clock goes. Maybe I'm just getting old, but there are a ton of smaller things now gone....things I actually miss. While a lot of these things aren't 'important,' they were some of the things that make Kings Island special. I understand that PKI is a business. A business in a highly competitive industry. I'm thrilled that PKI is able to invest millions year after year....at a time when many parks just struggle to keep the gates open. I just wish that the powers that be start to look at things that need improving. Landscaping is something that needs improvement, IMHO. The park has come a long way since '93...but little things like cracks in the midways, chipping paint, and the pending loss of the floral clock take away from the park experience. I realize that most people (and many of us) don't see what the big deal is, but there are old-timers and first-timers that notice these things. Am I the only one old enough to remember how perfect the park grounds used to look in the 70's and 80's?
PKI Homey
No, you are not the only one old enough to remember the PKI of the past. It was much cleaner and nicer with a better mix of coasters, flats, water rides, and family rides. Paramount is coming along with what they are doing, but they wasted many years with the upkeep of the park.
BoddaH1994
Does clock stop when the park isn't open to the GP? I went up for their 9/11 thing on Friday and noticed that the clock was stuck in the 1:00 position. I have video of it from my digital camera if anyone is interested. matth
The clock runs all the time in the summer, it however will be removed early this year for the construction (power to the site has been removed, no power, no clock.) I think I know something about the parks power situation now and about what we are doing for next year, and the clock will be back. The scooters however are a different story, they will exist, but not anywhere near where they are now, I was a bit surprised when I heard where they'd turn up. ..matt
