The Beast seems smoother

Featured Replies

When I road The Beast the other day, it seemed way smoother. I rode it 6 times the other day and had none of the feelings of being battered like I used to (missed it). Anybody have any idea what they did to smooth things out?

Where about in the train did you ride? Depending on where you rode can make a huge difference on the ride experience!

That is actually very interesting, having the sanity not to ride that seat in years, I remember this: Ow! Ow! Ow!. In all honesty, that is more mysterious than what is going into the ban....erm new ride site.

I've noticed that since that re-tracking, the wheel seats on The Beast are much smoother to the point where they're actually re-rideable. They're not Voyage-smooth, but definitely smooth enough that I won't insist on riding only in the middle seat of a car anymore.

Wheel seats in the front third of the train are good, but when you get closer to the back it is just unbearable. I rode in 4-3 a week or two ago and it was horrendous. Front seat or middle row for me.

I like to get in the 2nd or 3rd seat. I think those are the smoothest.

Row or car?

The third row in each CAR (not train) is a wheel seat. No way are wheel seats the smoothest. Not in this universe, anyway.

I feel as if the middle of each car is smoother than the front and back. I haven't noticed it being much smoother, but it isn't any rougher. Maybe I just got used to it.

Rode it twice Saturday at the KIC event. First ride, 5th car back seat, felt kinda rough. Second ride, 4th car middle seat, much smoother. Other difference was 10:30 am first ride, around 8:30 pm second ride. Gotta believe that much wood, sitting in the sun all day, has to affect it. Might be acclimation to ride stress over the course of the day, but night rides always seem smoother to me.

I found it smoother as well, even riding in a wheel seat of the back car. The helix, however, was a different story.

Last year the front seat gave a pretty good ride from what I recall. Haven't ridden there yet this year.

It had actually been a few years since i got to go... I know in 2008 the sucker was super painful (which i kind of prefer). The very back seat is my favorite bc of the speed and brute force you get to experience, especially on the helix.. love being pulled down that hill. I kept riding and daring it to hurt me in the least bit but it wouldn't.

Adventure Express was double the roughness of The Beast.

It was smoother yesterday! Rode front seat, it was so smooth I didn't mind Leung out over the front edge! That's an awesome way to ride

They have done quite a bit of track work the last few off seasons. Look at all the new wood. It has been getting better every year since about 2010.
