YoungStud Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 @ dorney was the first time I had ever seen security guards up in look out towers in ques before. I can't remember if they have metal detectors there or not. I would not feel safe if they werent there on Sunday. 1 Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 Dorney Park is also the park where I watched my new 1992 Nissan Maxima SE get broken into while I was on the SkyRide. I quickly ran to my car after exiting the ride, to find it unlocked, no visible sign of entry and nothing missing! The parking lot has very visible security because it needs it. To be fair, the Northeast is not the Midwest. 4 Quote
fanofFirehawk Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Wow, I didn't realize that Dorney was such a…. a ….. Snake Pit! 3 Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 It isn't. Just be aware one must be far more aware of one's surroundings and personal security in the Northeast than in most of the Midwest. There are areas of the Cinci metro where similar caution is prudent. 2 Quote
YoungStud Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 WWE's Nasty Boys are from Allentown, pa..... 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Allentown, NJ is even more interesting. 1 Quote
IBEW_Sparky Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 It would be like putting Cedar Point in Detroit... or east Cleveland. Quote
PyroKinesis Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Well, going to cross Dorney Park off my list of amusement parks to eventually visit. Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Steel Force is an excellent ride. Not a B&M. Not an INTAMIN. Talon is also excellent. 2 Quote
YoungStud Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Voodoo or whatever its being called now is my favorite there! Quote
upstop Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Hydra is cool too....except where you lose all of your spare change leaving the station... at two miles an hour....LOL 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Voodoo or whatever its being called now is my favorite there! Possessed. Terp, ever helpful. 2 Quote
YoungStud Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I had a opportunity to ride it in 06. I only rode talon, hydra, and steel force on that visit and headed on to great adventure. 2 Quote
thedevariouseffect Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Ah Steel Venom, Posessed, ect multi personality disorder...Loved that ride at Geauga Lake. It's one of the few impulse shuttle coasters I like, the hold brake on the back spire is just loads of fun in the very back 2 Quote
YoungStud Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I prefer the straight spike on one end impulses more than WT. Quote
upstop Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I had a opportunity to ride it in 06. I only rode talon, hydra, and steel force on that visit and headed on to great adventure. How much further is GA from Dorney?...in old man hours.... Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Traffic is a major determinant up here. It can be 90 minutes. It can be four hours. Quote
YoungStud Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Around an hour and a half. You can go to hershey in a little under than that. Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Or four hours. For real. 1 Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Racer! Sigh. I'm gonna cry now. Good night. 2 Quote
upstop Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 wow...when I decide to go to GA I'll certainly have to plan for the delay.....maybe a night drive while the yahoos are a-seeping....lol 1 Quote
Creed Bratton Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Not gonna lie, this is one of my favorite inversions out there. Yeah, it may be slow, but it's fun! Quote
IBEW_Sparky Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I have Loved Mamba since I was one of the first riders in 1998, I am definitely looking forward to how Steel Force rides in comparison! 1 Quote
elyk Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 steel force is more aimed at speed than airtime. it is a nice ride but only has some floater at the bunny hops near the end and the first hill. Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 Huh? You obviously have not ridden it when the midcourse brake is not on, and probably have not ridden it in the back seat of a car, preferably of the first car. It spent a summer as my favorite steel coaster, and I'm all about strong airtime and laterals. I love Steel Force still. Steel Force is capable of strong airtime. 1 Quote
elyk Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 i have ridden it in the front back and middle, all offer subtle airtime, but not that much. Quote
