Darren Mullins
I m not sure if this has been posted yet, but I say let's all take a guess as to what is coming for next year and see who is right. I think a major coaster is off for next year. The reason I say this is because of the lack of land clearing. If anything big was coming, we would have noticed a great deal of land clearing by now. Think about it. It is almost August and the season starts next April. I say if a coaster is coming next year, it will be a Wild Mouse. I also think there may be something done to Waterworks. This is just my guess. All of you holding out for a B&M for next year may have to wait a little longer.

murphz
actually, i have a little rumor of my own that i know exactly where the coaster will be. I have been looking for this alot, seeing that most sites say it will be near racer. The area right behind those swinging chairs things are being cleared. There used to be some pay motion simulators there, and the Fearfest maze or whatever. Now the simulators are gone and theres a wall with a door that says "No admittace" which i know is usual. But, i looked closely at it and see workers and occassional people in hard hats going in. Usually its people in suits. Now, i tried peeking in and see alot of dirt and it seems an area is cleared. Theres nothing in construction obviously, but it seems they may be tearing down that barn as well. So, if its supposed to be near racer, that place has a good amount of space and could very well be the spot. Think about it, Millennium Force and Dragster at Cedar Point are sweet, but they take up little space and go over everything. Hypercoasters dont tend to take a large area of land. I'm convinced ones coming next year. They definetly need a tourism boost anyway. ...also if this ends up being the spot i will brag so much lol. www.screamscape.com
bitemeboi
I REALLY hope ur right MURPHZ,,,i'm tired of flats and family rides....if it is a flat or a family ride next year i will not buy a pass 9as with many of my other friends) nor will i visit the park next year
Aaron
bitemeboi, please familiarize yourself with the PKIU Forum Rules. While I'm not saying that I know for sure, I see plenty of water in store for 2004... I cannot say the same about any steel.
CantStopCabron
That's a good observation, and it seems like you could be onto something murphz. Although I doubt it is a hyper. With CP holding everyone's attention up north, it would seem like a sad attempt at mimicing their success if we built anything smaller than a 500 foot coaster. And I just don't see that happening so soon. I would guess a smaller more compact coaster would go there, what with all the open land that is right next to FOF. Aaron
If PKI was to build a steel coaster, I would not expect it to be a record breaker.... I would expect it to just be an overall great ride. You do not have to have a record breaking coaster in order to have the BEST coaster (big things come in small packages). PKI is going after quality rides, not just rides that are built for the sake of having the "most" or "biggest" like at CP.
murphz
i would have to agree. When i said it was a hypercoaster, that was a mere guess, but when i say it i mean just an overall fast-long ride. Im hoping for a floorless or something like that, but i doubt pki would be up to that. But i definetly dont expect a record breaker. Just an average coaster, agreed. Thats usually what comes from ki
pki2005
I think PKI is in store for a coaster made by B&M what type I have no clue. The coaster could also be like The Beast and they may not have to destory many trees. The other reason by I think PKI is in store for a huge coaster in 2004 is because lately the attandans at pki have be slightly dropping the flat rides dont cut it. We went PKI to become a theme park not a carival
DanielRadsgrl
Naw your wrong Mr. You have no clue what your talking about. lol I'm sorry i had to pick on him. I agree though. Too many flat rides thats two in a row. I WANT A COASTER.
Aaron
I agree that it would be nice for a major steel coaster for 2004, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for it.

Tanner
We went PKI to become a theme park not a carival PKI is no where close to a carnival. How many carnivals have Giant Frisbee's and Top Spins? They have them, just not giant!
Dane
I too see lots of H2O in the 04.
teenageninja
How many roller coasters have you seen at carnivals? Anyways attendance has been dropping at almost all amusement parks. Also Kings Island still has higher attendance than Cedar Point (I believe) and KI has been more crowded than ever this year. KI will get a coaster when it's time and that's what most of the people I know think.
mars1825
Also Kings Island still has higher attendance than Cedar Point (I believe) and KI has been more crowded than ever this year. Actually last year, CP had higher attendance than PKI. I don't know about this year but I'm sure attendance has dropped for both.
Aaron
I know that earlier this season the attendence was pretty slow due to so much wet weather, but from what I have been told, it's been extremely busy from the end of June to the present. I wouldn't be suprised if PKI's attendence figures are about the same as last year, or up slightly. Also, mars... where did you hear that CP's attendence was higher than PKI's? I'm pretty certain that for the past few years PKI has constantly had higher numbers than CP.
mars1825
To answer your question Aaron, I saw the figures earlier in the year, but I came across This recently. It shows the top 30 parks in attendance from last year. You can go ahead and take a look. Edited January 1, 1970 by mars1825
murphz
yes, pki did say in the paper they were losing lots of business and they blame it on the rainy days. But theyve had alot of attendance lately

Xx2cansamxX
I think CP has a LOT more people. I went on a Wednesday, Tursday, and Friday, and all 3 days were packed! The Thursday was raining for 2 hours, and it was still packed. Not sure if it was just luk but CP definately seems to be bringing in te crowds. PKI on the other hand, I have noticed that you can walk on almost any ride at any time. (which I like).
7D Rules
Maybe we'll get to see a B&M flying coaster in '04. I agree with earlier posts that PKI will not try to put in a record breaking coaster. I believe I speak for all when I say we just want a quality coaster. I have wanted to go to SFGadv to ride their flying coaster, but I've heard that park is not very nice, clean, or have friendly employees. I don't agree that CP only goes for record breakers and quantity. They have several 1st class coasters. Examples: 1) Top Thrill Dragster 2) Millenium Force 3)Raptor 4)Mantis 5) Wicked Twister 6)Magnum XL200 7)Mean Streak 8)Cedar Creek Mine Ride 9)Wild Cat 10)Gemini. I would agree that they have some real clunkers too like Iron Dragon, Disaster Transport, Jr. Gemini, Woodstock Express, Corkscrew, and Blue Streak. Although, I cut them a little slack on Blue Streak and Corkscrew because of their age. When Corkscrew was built, it was one of the first coasters with three inversions. PKI has clunkers too...Adventure Express, Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster, Top Cat's Taxi Jam, Beastie.
Elder Panther
Every park has to have small coasters for kids and families too. Just because a coaster is small doesn't mean it was a bad installation.
7D Rules
True enough, Panther. But, what I think everyone forgets is that most of the coasters they mention that they don't like at CP are not major coasters either.
Xx2cansamxX
CP is a thrill park. KI is a family park. Yes CP has awesome coasters. Yes KI has awesome coasters. I once thought CP was better than KI, now, I think they both have their own qualities. Cedar Point Top 5 Thrills- Top Thrill Dragster, Milennium Force, Raptor, Wicked Twister, Mantis. Other Perk- Friendliest staff of ANY amusement park. Kings Island Top 5 Thrills- Son of Beast, Beast, Dilerium, Tomb Raider, Flight of Fear. Other Perk- Best place for kids in ANY amusement park. mars1825
I don't understand why everyone thinks the staff are so friendly at CP. Maybe people are just used to Six Flags employees. Personally, I saw no difference in PKI's ride ops and CP's except CP's sounded like they were really bored.
andyatuc
When I went to CP last month I was shocked at how little interaction I had with the associates of any kind. The ones I did talk to weren't smiling at all and it felt like I was shopping at a grocery store or something where everyone who works there wanted to go home. The only ones I actually spoke to didn't speak too much English...lol. I thought that was somewhat ironic... It all depends on when you go though. I'm sure their staff is just as good as PKI's, right? Andy
Xx2cansamxX
Cedar Points employees are WAY friendlier. I have been to most of the major parks in America, and CP blows them away. Yes, most of them are foreign exchange students, but that is part of their program. When was the last time you came into a ride station, about to get off, and had people yelling in microphones, WELCOME BACK RIDERS, HOW WAS YOUR RIDE? And they give you all of the stats of the rides, right when you are boarding the train.
