upstop
Next year is the 25th aniversary of The Beast. Does anyone think they may continue replacing wood on the structure and possibly adding anything new to the surroundings? New queue, Theming, etc? Vortex
I think that they will keep replacing wood on the structure to help preserve the ride. Maybe if they could strengthen the structure between the first drop and the second lift, they might be able to remove a trim or two We can dream can't we?!?! mars1825
I know I'm really excited about The Beast's 25th anniversary.
Beastfreak
Just had an idea... No one would ever need to know, but KI could do this to strengthen the problem areas of the ride. Just take steel structure pieces, and attach them to the structure of the ride under the track. That way its hidden by the real wood that is holding up the ride, but this steel sub-structure would hold together the ride better than just the wood itself, allowing the ride to be run faster. Browntggrr
It would be a huge disappointment if PKI does not do anything for the ride that put the park on the map and made PKI what it is today. 25 years of being one of the best coasters in the world, PKI HAS to do something big. StXBomber
They probably will. They added all of those banners in the station for it's 20th anniversary, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that for the 25th.
Losing Streak
On a related note, perhaps they will do something for SOB's 5th operating season. Like tunnels or something. If not, it's still an awesome ride.
StXBomber
Yeah, that would be nice. New cars, retrack certain parts, trees, and tunnels would be a very nice present for it's 5th year.
BoddaH1994
I doubt they'll do anything for SOB's 5th, although like I said before, I'd love to see tunnels added to a helix. The Beast's 30th will probably just be another banner. I doubt they'll do anything to the ride itself.
7D Rules
If they would add tunnels to SOB on the Helix, wouldn't that kind of take away from the originality of The Beast? It would just be larger, correct?
BoddaH1994
Ah, I guess you're right to some degree. Of course, SOB and The Beast are totally different rides. I don't think it would detract from The Beast if SOB closed in one of their rose bowls. I guess my only concern would be that it would be extremely hot in there. I mean, even riding AE you can tell definate temperature differences when you're in and out of the caves. You actually spend a considerable amount of time in the rose bowls. My guess is that since The Beast is a constant downward helix, you get a constant breeze in there, and that's why it's not too hot. On SOB, you go up and down hill, so you slow down considerably at times.
