Week IV: Most Historic Addition(s) in KI History?

Featured Replies

Kings Island, a place full of history dating back over 40 years. What is the most historic addition in KI history?

For me, it would have to be the addition of Beast, FoF, and BB.

Edited topic title for Terp's namesake, the s is implied(occasionally)

I'm confused. Both the title and original post ask for THE most historic addition (not plural). Then the original poster gives a list of three...

Terp, whose head doth hurt.

CoasterFanatic2012, I must completely agree with you. Son of Beast will always be remembered, especially with it having to do a lot with Banshee!

I was going to say The Beast but I have to go with The Racer. The success of The Racer helped put roller coasters back on the map at a time when many coasters were being torn down all over the country.

I have to say buying Coney Island, shutting it down (but not really), and building a whole new amusement park out in the middle of the country would have to be the most historic thing.

Id have to say The Beast, I Thnik The Beast was one of the 1st Record Breakers At KI. (I think Vortex was first, Not sure though)

Diamondback. What's better than that? :)

I can think of a long, long list of things better than DB!

I only rode Son of Beast 4 times the 1st year it opened. I loved it had no trouble with it. However Most historic addition in KI history has to be The Beast All the records it broke the building of it in a time when there was no computers and it was built by KI not another company. And Yes Vortex was a record breaker.

There were no computers?

Really?

The things I learn here.

(Gee, I wonder what in the world I, a lowly student, was using back in 1965 at Morehead State in Kentucky? It used "IBM punchcards.")

If I had to pick one I'd probably say The Beast. It is the ride that Kings Isalnd is really known and celebrated for. Plus it has broken adn held many records for mroe than 3 decades.

After that probably The Racer. It was one of teh parks' original attractions and is a landmark coaster and played a vital role in the coaster renaissance, it was the one that really sparked the new golden age of coasters which got us to where we are today.

So as far as general coaster history The Racer is the more historic but Beast is teh more widely known and recognized one for the park itself.

The Beast was built in 1979 and The Vortex was built in 1987, now my years might be a little off but The Beast was first to break records not Vortex.
