The thrill of being among the first night riders on the new Banshee roller coaster at Kings Island will have a whole new meaning April 17, when Kings Island hosts “Scream for A Kid Again” to raise money for the Greater Cincinnati chapter of A Kid Again, a non-profit organization which strives to enrich the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families by providing healing times of respite through fun-filled group activities and destination events. Kings Island fans and roller coaster enthusiasts alike will enjoy a night filled with riding the world’s longest inverted roller coaster over and over again.

I won't be there :(

we will likely sign up because this organization has been amazing to my friends Amber and KK. You can support us and be there in spirit.

I'm very interested in participating in this event, getting to help children with life threatening illnesses and their families is always something special to be a part of. Helping sick children is something that is not necessarily addressed around the world like it should be, which is why I'm glad to see an event like this taking place. Count me in.

I would love to do this, not so I can ride, but allow a young coaster enthusiast and his or her parent or guardian to ride Banshee that night. If anyone knows a young coaster enthusiast that doesnt have the chance to visit Kings Island often please let me know! Also, honesty is very appreciated! Thank you.

I think you can sponsor a kid. Plus I'm sure donations will be appreciated by other KIC members.

Once you sign up is it guaranteed that you will have a spot in the event (if you raise the $100 minimum) or is it just for whoever raises the most? Like if 300 sign up and there are only like 100 spots only the 100 top fundraisers get to participate? Or only the set amount of people allowed in can register?

Well, the FirstGiving page dose not give a maximum number of participants. Perhaps Don can clear this up?

There are a limited number of spots available. What that number is will be known when fundraising closes at midnight on April 13.

So we have to raise money without knowing whether we'll be able to participate? I don't like that. If somebody donates to "sponsor someone in the event" they expect that someone to participate. If I can't guarantee to potential donors that I will be eligible to participate, then I'm not comfortable soliciting donations to begin with. I think I'll sit this one out.

^ I think Don is implying that the number of available spots will be determined by the number of people who have raised $100 by the deadline. That will be a limited number, even though that limit is not yet determined.

When this was done for Diamondback, there were also a number of corporate sponsors...a number of whom weren't revealed until after the fundraising deadline had passed, if memory serves...so malem's simple method, while simple, is probably over optimistic.

Just because you raised a certain minimum amount may not in fact guarantee a seat.

No, "limited" to me means that only the top X fundraisers can participate. "Anyone that meets the minimum" is what I would define as "unlimited".
