No Loose Articles in the Banshee Station

I think another reason that I am dissapointed this is happening is probably because well...it's just that on the last huge, ~$25 million B&M coaster Cedar Fair installed (Gatekeeper) they had bins where you can put your stuff no questions asked. Gatekeeper eats riders FINE despite having storage bins, so why couldn't Banshee do the same?

I think it works better here because you do not cross the train at all.

You pass the bins on your way to your seat, and again on your way out. As opposed to crossing the train to the far side of the station, then coming back and taking your seat.

So then, the question becomes, why couldn't Banshee's station have been designed like this?

Not that it matters that I bring this up. For better or worse, there ain't gonna be any bins and that seems to be settled.

If you eat at a place that offers free meals to kids then a portion of your bill covered that.

Being a father of two, I thank those of you that help make "kids eat free" days, possible.

Wake up Reds Grille! 16 dollars to feed my 5 and 2 year old, "just a bit outside". EDIT: I lost track of what thread I was reading, love not having bins for Banshee, trash the ones at DB while your at it!

There was a big problem with people stuff getting stolen this year at KI and I'm sure you noticed the seatbelt locks installed later in the year because of this issue. KI is just reducing the liability factor of loose article of guests. The locker solves this problem. The RDIF bands will hopefully solve some money issues at the park also using it to purchase lockers. Anything to make life a little easier for the park is good news.

Here's my main reasons why I think they don't have bins

1. Help throughput because with no MCBR the ride can't afford to stack, and plus being high capacity, they want those numbers..

2. Think of the proximity to the midway..loose article flying out of the dive going over the midway there post lift hill..That's asking for trouble

Can my FastPay wristband be used at any other Cedar Fair parks?

Not at this time, but we are looking at this capability in the future.

^ From https://www.dorneypark.com/plan-a-visit/fast-pay

I would take this as a definite "maybe" and confirmation that FastPay being implemented at the other parks is a possibility that has been thought about, at the very least.

Translation: This doesn't actually even remotely confirm anything. Nothing to see here.

Why should rides discriminate? If other rides have bins to store articles while you ride why can't they all? It's annoying.

Not all of the rides are going to need to move the lines as quickly to keep wait times down. With Banshee being the new ride for 2014, a lot of people will be waiting in line for it. Perhaps we will see bins added a few years down the road when/if the popularity decreases a bit, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Diamondback is still pretty much as popular as the day it opened.

anyone have any experience w/ getting back your loose items that fall out (example: cell phone) ?

how often/quickly do they check for the 'items that were claimed as lost' (I filled out the form at about 9:50pm)

Curious if they scan the ride/fields after the ride...looking for the items....or do they wait until morning?

what exactly is the procedure?

If they wait until morning...the storm/eve will pancake my phone.

I guess after 60+ rides on her...she was bound to eat my cellphone eventually. That's what I get for wearing loose gym shorts....

After each day crews go change out locks and often look for articles that may have dropped and take them to Lost And Found. It is sometimes hard to see the lost items after dark, so if they see something in the morning they'll grab it. The best way to retrieve is to go to lost and found to report your item missing. If they don't find it by 11 o'clock on nights that the park closes at 10, then they'll look for it in the morning.

Check back on your next visit with Lost and Found. Do know that it's not a guaranteed thing that they'll find it. Honestly phones when they fall from a coaster, shatter pretty drastically. And I'm sure you're aware, the park isn't responsible for the items if lost.

Yeah, I totally understand the 'policy' -

I have one of those awesome cases for my iphone...

I've thrown my phone (fastball) and still not done an ounce of damage to it....

So, I have hopes it could survive a fall from Banshee....I'm pretty sure it fell out somewhere on the back end of the ride (which is good) it's open back there. If it fell out over the mid-way...then I'm sure some kid got a great condition iphone

I just don't think they'll find it tonight in the dark (its a black case) and the rain tonight...will put an end to it anyways...

oh well, still got my free upgrade...

was just curious...thanks for the reply Hydra

Just be glad it didn't come out and maim or kill someone. There is a reason there are no loose articles permitted, and the most important one is safety.

Before you say that couldn't happen, ask thedevariouseffect about that...he has a gruesome story you probably don't want to hear. Sadly, it's true...

Terp: You could put an eye out with that thing...

To the extent of the the guest's assets, insurance and morality. The park, its owners and operators would also likely be claimed negligent and sued.

Lets put it this way, glad to know my story stuck with one hopefully more

One trip on Maverick, guy had his phone or zippo, I wanna say phone. Anyways he had it out holding onto it and the restraint. Launch tunnel in Maverick, train banks left he looses grip, phone flies back at 70mph and hit a man a few rows back, took out his eye. Was a crazy day for the guest, the guy with the phone, and for us/security. Had EMTs, security, and gold tags all over it. Never saw the guy who had the loose article after that, popped restraints they escorted him away forcefully.

I calculated the mass a phone has at speed for just my ride. On Corkscrew, at about 35mph (about the speed it averages through the corkscrews) a phone at that speed carries the weight of a cinder block behind it. So imagine walking up the midway, look up, bam, hit in the head with a cinder block. Now think phones are larger/weigh more now, and that dive loop straight to the midway at probably 50 or so mph, gets alot more crazy.

Secure your articles or store in a bin. Not only would you lose your items of value more than likely, but you can also injure yourself and others, quite seriously. Another sidenote, a phone on TTD comes down pretty hard, sounds like a popgun going off like the ones on the CPLERR when it hits the midway. Being at Witches Wheel, seen it happen plenty of times. Heed the warnings, don't want anyone elses or your own best day to turn into an emergency trip to the ED/Surg and then someone in custody facing charges. The park does hand out charges, moreso than you think.

In addition to any criminal charges, there is the potential for civil liability. And having to live with oneself the rest of one's life and knowing that but for taking on board a phone...

The following incidents happened on the same day....I was sitting on the wall near Invertigo eating ice cream and I thought "This may not be a good spot to sit.". As I was standing up a cell phone smacked the gravel behind me and shattered into the crowd through the chain link fence, luckily no one was hurt. Later on I was waiting in the north side loading area of Delirium and I thought "hope no one loses a cell phone". When the ride was at it's peak coming from the south a cell phone flew out and slammed the metal platform spewing cell phone parts. The sound was so loud that it sounded like the ride was malfunctioning. The riders instantly went quiet and the ride was ended. When the riders got off the ride, one rider was so scared that they left a medical clean up in their seat...it was that loud and that scary.

With such a "need" to be connected to a "phone/computer" all the time, maybe the wrist smart phones are not such a bad idea after all.

Hey...they could even add your pass, meals and incidentals to your wrist phone! (sarc)
