JTW Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I suppose a lot more decides that than weather alone though. My previous comment was based on their timetable for opening a ride alone and seemed odd to me. Quote
TheBEASTunchained Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 @SplashinDan on Twitter: "Ahrrrggghhh our PTC trains need more work than thought. Critical path update soon I promise. Rampage will ride again." 3 Quote
TheBEASTunchained Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Rampage tweet / photo update from Mr. Dan Koch via Twitter (@SplashinDan) "Rampage looking good. Still lots of work to be done. #SplashAdventure" "I love the smell of fresh number one grade lumber in the morning.Smells like victory.Rampage rules! #SplashAdventure" "The Koch family loves Alabama, America and the Rampage. God bless Alabama! #SplashAdventure" "Woo hoo! Rampage. #SplashAdventure" "Not pretty! Real train is at PTC in Philly. I'll tweet when it comes back completely refurbished. #SplashAdventure" .....And just to clarify the above photo and tweet for those of you who aren't aware......The train that Dan mentions above, is in fact in Philadelphia right now undergoing refurbishment from PTC. The train you see in the photo sitting near the station is Rampage's second train, which has not yet been sent to Philadelphia for refurbishment. 8 Quote
thekidd33 Posted July 23, 2014 Author Posted July 23, 2014 It is really nice to see how much progress is being made on Rampage. With what feels like a large number of wooden coasters getting axed lately its nice to see one coming back to life! 8 Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Given how terribly that a large racing coaster in Illinois' trains are running, one is forced to wonder about the future of THAT particular ride. Some owners respect, even revere wood coasters. Others, on the other hand.... (And the new steel coaster in that Illinois park is glorious. I woodn't and won't call it wood.) 9 Quote
TheBEASTunchained Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Some exciting news regarding Rampage from Dan Koch via Twitter this morning.... @SplashinDan on Twitter: "In 15 days the track work is complete. Need train and chain. Gotta be patient. Not easy! Rampage returns!" 5 Quote
Hendrick Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I was surprised to read that the work was done in house. @CoasterChitChat The revamp of Rampage is being led by our very own Heath Kelly who used to be on the coaster crew at HW.Source 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Hmmm. http://www.abc3340.com/story/26004819/alabama-splash-adventure-hosted-christian-music-fest Things that make Terp go Hmmm. Quote
thekidd33 Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 Dan seems pretty committed to creating 'Holiday World South' it seems. Hopefully he can see solid growth going forward. 2 Quote
shark6495 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Not sure how big the park is but that sounds like an average of just over 1500 people/day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Creed Bratton Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 From Dan's Facebook today: This forgotten little park in Alabama (Alabama Splash Adventure) is turning around. 2014 has been great. We are clean, friendly, safe and happy. Alabama Splash Adventure's future is so bright we shine like a Super Nova that burns forever! Thank you Alabama and America. We are blessed to have the greatest guests and the greatest two parks for one low price in America with the Rampage Roller Coaster back online for 2015. I'll be sending pictures of Kochs riding Rampage this fall. We should be able to squeeze an ACE event in this fall as well once the Rampage ptc train returns from Philly! Woo Hoo! Life is great in Bama! Dan has really shown his passion in this project. I love it! 5 Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Dan needs to capitalize PTC. In some ways, though, he just did. And is gonna some more. I'm sure Tom approves. Alabama. My trip plans keep changing. Oh, Susannah. 6 Quote

TombRaiderFTW Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 By the by: ACE is showing an event on its website called "Rip Roarin' Rampage Returns" on October 25. I wonder how official the date is... 4 Quote
TombRaiderFTW Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Per Dan Koch (@splashindan) on Twitter: "@SplashinDan: We are getting it done. Rampage rules! # SplashAdventutre" Attached is a picture of some maintenance employees and Pat Koch in what appears to be a new red Rampage car from PTC. Link to tweet: https://twitter.com/splashindan/status/520603083039326210 If you look a few tweets down from this one on Dan's feed, you'll find a somewhat awkward selfie. I suppose what he does with his Twitter is his business, but still... 9 Quote
KIBeast Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Looks like an awesome coaster. Where, in Alabama, is this located? Quote
Oldiesmann Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 It's possible that selfie was uploaded by accident and/or meant for a personal account (non-work-associated) account. Looks like an awesome coaster. Where, in Alabama, is this located? It's located in Bessemer, Alabama, which is about 15 miles southwest of Birmingham. Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Birmingham area....at what was once Visionland in Bessemer. EDIT: Second! 3 Quote
WMAJrKY Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 That tacky shirtless mirror selfie is hysterical. Someone needs to be monitored and reigned in. 4 Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 A Court already did that at least once... 4 Quote
Delirium13 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 That tacky shirtless mirror selfie is hysterical. Someone needs to be monitored and reigned in. Ohhh, that's the new Rampage logo that'll be going on the front of the trains. 7 Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Now THAT's the funniest thing I've read here in ages. The sad thing is, I can see Dan trying to pitch that to the park directors! 5 Quote
TombRaiderFTW Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 It's possible that selfie was uploaded by accident and/or meant for a personal account (non-work-associated) account. I figured that, too, right at first... But it's been there 6 days. The fact that it even exists shows the difference between Dan and Will for me. 5 Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I highly doubt Pat Koch would be amused. 5 Quote
WMAJrKY Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I highly doubt Pat Koch would be amused. I doubt it, too. In fact she would probably be upset to be in the same twitter feed a few images away from THAT. 5 Quote
TheBEASTunchained Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Rampage completed its first successful test run on Saturday, according to Dan Koch. Will post the photo update soon! 2 Quote
