jdawg1998
...and here comes the people complaining they'll never visit Cedar Point again for something out of their control. Cedar Point is allowing guests to use their tickets at Wildwater Kingdom and Kings Island for today. Although Kings Island isn't necessarily close... The Interpreter
Nor, really, is Wildwater Kingdom.
jdawg1998
Nor, really, is Wildwater Kingdom. An hour and a half opposed to three and a half...although one is a small water park and one is a world-class amusement park.
upstop
Hmmm...they quickly moved the live cam off the front gate midway and it sure looks like the back of the park is empty.

upstop
Sorry folks, due to a water main break, America's Rollercoast is temporarily closed. Have a hap hap happy day. http://jimhillmedia.com/mb/images/upload/John-Hughes-Landscape-web.jpg
PKIVortex
I hope I'll still be able to go to Cedar Point tomorrow for Coasting for Kids. I know what happened with the water main break is out of Cedar Point's Control but I worked really hard for this event.
The Interpreter
Typically a boil water order follows a waterline break repair....
malem
More info, including pictures: http://www.sanduskyregister.com/article/cedar-point/5739681 All guests have apparently been evacuated from the peninsula, including the resorts. The causeway is currently closed to traffic according to ODOT. Residents on the Cedar Point chausse are also affected by the water main break. upstop
Wow...look at the nickels lost today. If I were a CEO of Cedar Fair, I would be looking at sewage/water treatment options for the peninsula. It would be worth $20 million. http://www.orenco.com/systems/hotels_resorts_wastewater_treatment.cfm http://www.lenntech.com/
Gplez90
The same people cursing at Cedar Point in their Facebook page are the same ones who would file a lawsuit if the park remained opened and there wasnt enought water to keep all of the guests hydrated. Cedar Point did not want this to happen. They will lose over $1 million in ticket sales alone today. Add in resort sales and bookings, food, merchandise, etc. its a huge loss for Cedar Point. malem
More photos of the ongoing work: http://www.newsnet5.com/news/warning-graphic-photos-of-cedar-point-water-main-break (In perhaps a new low for journalism, the local news station saw fit to include a picture showing what an unflushed toilet looks like. Not to mention that absolutely all picture-taking is forbidden in CP restrooms.)
Bennett
This is a bunch of horsepucky...have reservations for Hotel Breakers tomorrow night-Weds. I wonder when they planned on calling me? Now, I'm kind of screwed as far as getting a place to stay Sun night. All off island CF properties are fully booked now as well. I wonder if anyone did plan to call, or, have me pull a Walley World tomorrow evening. Lady on the phone was not accomodating at all, basically said love it, or shove it, we don't care. Good thing I have friends who pay attention to this stuff, someone on FB hollered at me about this. The only time all year we get to have a little getaway, and, the s#!t hits the fan. BOOOO.
Bennett
So, PNC Park in Pittsburgh for baseball tomorrow afternoon, and, instead of having my feet in the sand outside Hotel Breakers on the lake, I'll be at the Knights Inn. Hopefully park will be open tomorrow evening, can't wait for Sunday night rides!
malem
After the break is fixed, pipes and fixtures will most likely need to be flushed to ensure water safety. With around 1000 guest units on the peninsula, that's a big undertaking. It's not surprising that the resorts will be closed tomorrow night as well.

The Interpreter
I wonder what they are doing for and with the employees in on-site housing. Back in the Kinzel days, I'd have supposed not much.

BeastForever
Thank GOODNESS this didn't happen the morning of CoasterMania!... For all those who attended yesterday, we dodged a bullet.
APE
Man that sucks for the park and guests. I am very fortunate to have been able to go last weekend. I had the choice of this weekend or last for our trip. I was unsure of how crowded coastermania would make the park for the weekend so I went with last weekend. Bullet dodged.
PKIVortex
According to Cedar Point no decision about Sunday has been made yet.

Bennett
Lame...should be working all night to make sure the park can open tomorrow. When this is the only trip families plan for the summer, all measures should be taken. This is the only getaway we had planned, and, now it is half shot to hell. I'll be lucky now to get in the park/check into Breakers at any point Monday. Bennett, wondering why he bothers.
Bennett
Had better be Fast Lane/All Day Meal passes ready at check in.
The Interpreter
If they do that for everybody, what good would it do? Fast Lane for all...no one in the regular line. Tee hee.
Bennett
For everyone with reservations on the property, made in good faith, paying triple retail to stay on said property? Making last minute hotel plans, that I cannot cancel for Sun eve? Based on a phone call stating park would likely open on Sunday? When I could have gone to Carowinds instead? To folks who had reservations torpedoed? Yes.
The Interpreter
They are lowing reservations to be canceled.
