Dane
It seems like it's a new thing this year and may be the result of more of us going mobile but we do not need up to the minute threads about different rides going down for whatever short term reason throughout the day. This does not apply towards talking about rides that have been closed for a period of time (more than a couple days). CoasterOhio
Maybe just have one single topic for it?
Gemini XL-200
Wouldn't the ride "current wait times" thread be a good place for things like that?
jcgoble3
No. We don't need to discuss it at all. Rides go down for a myriad of reasons all the time. Just because ride X went down for reason Y and stayed down for Z minutes does not mean that it needs to be mentioned at all on here. The only time that it is worth discussing a ride being down is when it's down for a unusually long period of time, such as is currently the case with Drop Tower.
CoasterOhio
^ Why wouldn't it be worth discussing? People may want to go to the park today, right now. Would they want to know that Banshee was down at the current time? (It's not but it was earlier and it was the first thing that I thought of)I know that you can go to the Help Center left of entering the park, behind the Fast Pass building, and there is a list there. But it would be nice to know ahead of time.
jcgoble3
Because information like that gets out of date VERY fast. A ride might only be down for half an hour, or less. Posting that it's down may cause someone to not come, when had they come, the ride may have been back up by the time they got there. That is why we do not need real-time updates on short-term closures.
Oldiesmann
It also clutters up the forum. Imagine how annoying it would be if someone made a post every time WindSeeker found too much wind... OleShawn
Unless its going to be down all day or for a few days, I dont think it needs to be posted. More yet it should be on KI website and not on here. IMO
Gabe
Case in point--when I was at the park last Sunday with my kids, the scrolling sign outside the main gate said that Surf Dog would be closed that day. From the time we got there, there were several maintenance workers fixing the ride and sure enough, it opened around 4 PM. Ride closures change constantly, so I agree that unless we're talking about an extended closure like Drop Tower it shouldn't be posted here. Heck, even Disney makes changes to its ride rehab schedule all the time. When we were there, both Astro Orbiter and the PeopleMover were slated to be under the knife. However, those rehabs were pushed back to August just a day before we arrived.
APE
I don't see any harm with those posts going in the current wait times thread because that's what I made the thread for so that people that are at the park can relay the information to others from here that may be there as well. Things change but so do the wait times.
Creed Bratton
I appreciate the "Current Wait Times" thread. As it provides a space for people to discuss the wait times for certain attractions each day, rather than having 30 threads for hey The Beast is at a 30 minute wait, little to no rambling followed. To then have another thread that says Diamondback is a walk on with little to no rambling followed. So I appreciate that thread! Now to get people to utilize it rather than starting new threads.
