Dane
My day started out when my friend told me that he couldn’t come and that he actually didn't ask his parents if he could go yet. I asked him a week before. We (My brother and I) got dropped off at the drop-off point at PKI. As we walked to the entrance gates we watched Face-Off. As we got closer to security the person sitting on the lifeguard style chair was talking about how no one listing and no-one supports her. So we yelled and said I support you! That started a chain reaction that probably made her day. I walked through security, no problem. We decided to get inline for Delirium, full wait. As we waited the weather progressively got worse. It was sunny to dark to rain to winds to thunder to lightning. Sirens and alarms were going off every minute. They shut the ride down and the line cleared out slowly. We waited under the tent with a handful of other people. We got drenched rain, wind, and the only thing that kept us there was the humor in it. After constant warnings from a belt checker that the weather was gonna get really "nasty," we stayed. About 2.5 hours later the rain slowed down. Than we had to wait for maintainance to come and restart the ride. I watched workers constantly call communications wanting to know when maintainance was going to show. than we got told that Delirium would be the last ride to get restarted. We were watching every other ride in the park run and Delirium not even had a dry run yet. About 1.5 hours after the rain stopped maintainance shows. Two guys. And I must say, they came and stood around. The ride gets restarted and the dry run starts. Water flows off the seats. We get on and the seats are still soaked, but so are we. We get on, have our short 2 minute ride, and get off. I had got in line at 1:30 and got off of Delirium at 5:05. Now that's crazy. I than went over to Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. The line, rather than curved around the building, was heading strait out, blocking traffic. The walls have been covered with plex-glass and the screws broke off drywall dust and now is caught in-between the glass and the wall, it looks really bad. As you go up the stairs in the wait line, almost all of the flickering bulbs have been broken. It was really sad to see because those type of bulbs are expensive. Plus it looked really bad. I got in car 9 and went on my way. I think that some of the sensors wern’t working. I received a score of 1390 and I usually have a score of 2500+. Tomb Raider was next. We got in the line that was just outside the cave. The ride seemed different, less intense. The sparks on the side were working. But this was the most funniest thing on the ride. Only one eye on the big stature was working! The water wasn’t shooting as high it seemed. We got inline for The Beast. After making it to the TV that is standing by itself on the long white pole, we got word that it got stuck. I left. It was about 7:00pm and we were at the little arcade by The Beast. I started talking to a game employee. He was still learning the ins and outs of the ride. He discovered the pre-recorded messages. He played all 8 of them, than he discovered that they also play in Spanish. That was really funny. Two Canadian geese got in a fight by the pond. I ate at Montgomery Inn. Full slab, with cole slaw and wedges. Tasty and expensive. On my way out I took a bib, wrapped it around my next and wore it like a cape. I got inline for Scooby Doo again and rode it. Same story, except I think some more bulbs were broken. Also the laughing voice and that sound effect with the drums were turned down a bit in comparison to my last visit. I walked to the exit still with my cape. People ovcourse asked about it, and my super-powers to cover people with barbecue sauce. All and all it wasn’t a good day, but when you look back on it, it makes a good story. Edited January 1, 1970 by Dane
Aaron
Yea, the weather this weekend really has blown. And let me tell you, being woken up at 10 AM Saturday morning by tornado sirens is not a good way to start the day! Hopefully when I take my first trip of the season (*gasp*) to PKI next weekend the weather will be wooooooonderful (knock on wood). bingog34
Hey, at least it wasn't your PROM night.
shadow2k3
Yeah, I had prom as well this weekend. Luckily for me, I had my shifts covered by an associate in girl space. I checked my shop schedule for the heck of it and discovered that I had to work this weekend. So I grabbed some switch forms from Emporium (Since rock didn't have any...) and walked all over I-Street asking people to cover my shifts. I eventually struck gold at GS. I owe that girl a shift or two... I'll finally get back to work next week! There you have it, my Grad Nite adrenailine rush. I know it has nothing to do with saturday, but it was a story worth telling.. ~Shadow~
StXBomber
What do you mean by person sitting in a lifeguard style chair? Is this a new addition to the main gates since I've become an employee?
TraderJake
I think the person in the lifeguard chair is the person who greets guests as they enter the metal detector area, and thus makes the whole metal detector experience better for the guest. I'm sure you've heard the person coming in to work though, asking on the loud speaker what rides the guest wants to ride, and general welcomings into the park. DragonLord
The person the life gaurd chair isn't security. Actually, I have no idea what deparment they come from... odds are admissions or GR. Maybe entertainment? Some of them are really cool and funny, who knows? The weather was really bad, and there was a funnel cloud in the sky during the worst of it, employees were trying to get people inside as fast as possible, but I guess some guests don't listen. Strange thing is, I don't remember Mason's sirens going off when the cloud came over... oh well. I didn't hear reports of anyone blowing away, so all is well! Shman
Once again Yogi is on the ball and faster than me. The front gate greeters are in deed members of the Nick Show Company. I have talked to a few of them about it and they say that the job can get very insteresting out there.
