Stacker is programmed to pay out only after a set number of losing plays (number is determined by game operator). Its the same with Key Master and similar games. There are videos on YouTube of the top level on Stacker in slow motion showing it skip the winning spot when it isn't set to pay out.

For Hi Striker, Great Adventure has it setup where you play for fun and you win a prize no matter what score you get. That seems to work well for them since kids don't get disappointed that they got nothing for playing.

If such a configuration were used, it could meet the definition of a slot machine instead of a game of skill.

Amusement parks, for legal and other reasons, install the latter type of game.

If any park which isn't a gambling establishment is using a game where winners are partially (or fully) determined by the number of previous winners/losers, they should be informed of the defect. Depending on the laws of the particular jurisdiction, it could be a serious matter.

A guy that I knew that worked at LeSourdesville said it had to do with where you hit, not how hard; it was a leverage thing- (This guy later became Franklin Ohio's famous "Mr. Frosty".)

I don't know how it works now that it's become digitized, but that's how the old one worked.
