Tanna
What a smart artistic use of a character that fits the shape and utility of the ride. How cute!
MDMC01
Could there possibly be a launch in the slinky tunnel (which would explain why its intentionally skipped over in the video)? Good to know there may more one more family launch coaster out there in addition to Backlot, Firechaser Express and Adventure Drive (Suzuka Circuit, Japan).
jdawg1998
Disney takes so ridiculously long to build new rides...this probably won't even come out for another 4 years. They announced Avatar land what, 3 years ago? And what has come of it? Nothing.  Now look at Universal...they've built Diagon Alley with one of the world's best dark rides, are starting to build a new Kong ride, a new waterpark, a new resort hotel, along with the past five or so years first opening Hogwarts/Hogsmeade, Transformers: The Ride, the new Simpsons area, Cabana Bay resort, etc.; and what has Disney gotten in that time? A whole bunch of closings at Hollywood Studios and a somewhat unoriginal Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
shark6495
Disney takes so ridiculously long to build new rides...this probably won't even come out for another 4 years. So lets look at the facts for just a moment... Wizard World was announced in 2007.  3 years later it opened.  In 2011 it was mentioned it would be expanded and the new Diagon Alley opened in 2015.  Same 4 year time span...  What did Disney do since Hogwarts opened?  Developed, built, tested,a and implemented a significantly large investment to streamline and data mine all consumer information inside their WDW location.  This included, but was not limited to the following: Rekeying and modifying all doors on all hotel rooms, installation of readers at all shopping locations and rides, created and built an online portal, reservation system, and credit card information.  Just altered the way all consumers experience the park.... Oh they also redesigned and built the Art of Animation hotel and designed new hotels for on property and elsewhere.  What else did Disney do? Oh yeah redeveloped Fantasyland and built an entire immersive eating location called Be Our Guest.   So since Universal revealed plans in 2007 here is what WDW has accomplished since then....    2008At Walt Disney World, Epcot's Spaceship Earth officially re-opens after a major makeover, with new sponsor Siemens. [1210.29] Disney announces it will close all six Pleasure Island clubs, to be replaced by other shopping and dining options. [1224.30] All six nightclubs close in Pleasure Island at Walt Disney World. The areas are to be replaced by other shops and dining restaurants. [1220.48] [1224.31]2009Grand opening of The American Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. [1242.57] [1245.19] The Space Mountain attraction at Walt Disney World closes for refurbishment. [1245.11] Kidani Village opens at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge in Walt Disney World, part of Disney's Vacation Club. [1246.50] The Animal Kingdom Lodge building in Walt Disney World is renamed Jambo House. [1246.50] Stitch's SuperSonic Celebration officially opens in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. [1246.42] The Virgin Megastore at Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World closes. [1245.10] The Hall of Presidents officially re-opens in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, with new speeches by Barack Obama and George Washington. [1247.16] The Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort opens in Florida, part of Disney's Vacation Club. [1246.17] At Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, announces Fantasyland at Walt Disney World will undergo an extensive transformation and expansion, tripling in size by 2013. [1293.33] A ticker-tape parade is held for Buzz Lightyear at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to celebrate his return from 15 months in the International Space Station. [1293.21] The Sum of All Thrills attraction opens at Epcot's Innoventions, the first ride for that building. [1293.15] Space Mountain at Walt Disney World re-opens after seven months renovations, for a few hours per day for fine tuning. [1293.14] Grand re-opening of Space Mountain at Walt Disney World after seven months renovations. [1293.14]2010At Walt Disney World in Florida, IBM's redesigned "Smarter Planet" exhibit opens in Innoventions of Epcot. [1103] (to May 16) The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is held at Epcot Center. [1293.13] (to August 14) Summer Nightastic is held at Walt Disney World, with special evening events. [1312.22] Final ride of Star Tours at Hollywood Studios in Florida by Disney's D23 club members. [1312.18] (to November 1) Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom hosts "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party". [1312.35] Last live stage performance of High School Musical 3: Senior Year in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. [1312.15] Start of new street show Disney Channel Rocks in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. [1312.15]  More   2011 Wild Africa Trek is introduced at Disney's Animal Kingdom as an "immersive add-on experience" for park guests. The Katsura Grill opens in the Japan Pavilion at Epcot. "Star Tours - The Adventure Continues" - a new 3-D version of Star Tours - opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios. "Disney Junior - Live on Stage!" opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios. AMC Dine-In Theatres opens at Downtown Disney. Pollo Campero opens at Downtown Disney Marketplace. 2012 Disney's Magic Kingdom celebrates the "Grand Opening" of New Fantasyland. Disney's Art of Animation Resort opens.   From 2013-2015 just look at the finishing of Fantasy Land, Toy Story Mania, and the continuing remodeling of Downtown Disney.... So yeah maybe they wernt as big named as an entire land themed to a movie/book series but to say the parks did nothing is short sighted....
purdude86
Could there possibly be a launch in the slinky tunnel (which would explain why its intentionally skipped over in the video)? Good to know there may more one more family launch coaster out there in addition to Backlot, Firechaser Express and Adventure Drive (Suzuka Circuit, Japan).  The concept art, and part of the video, would definitely give that impression. there is a long flat stretch of track before a large uphill section. The concept art has theming saying "Super Launch" right at this portion as well. So I'd say most likely there is a launch on this coaster.  I also agree with you Shark. Disney may not have done as many major additions that are seen by the general public in the last 5 years as Universal but they have made some major changes to the parks. They have already opened up numerous things in the Downtown Disney area with multiple new shops and restaurants and a new parking garage. And as listed above the whole resort wide addition of the magic bands system and online portals has changed how everything is experienced and really streamlines the trip making it much more enjoyable.  Looking at attractions in the last 5 years Universal has opened the two Harry Potter areas, Transformers ride, Minions 3-D, and Springfield. These have been great additions but overall have been somewhat comparable to Disney's additions. Springfield was an expansion of existing structure, just adding a bar, food truck, and minor flat ride, with minor exterior facades to a food court. It is a great area but overall a pretty easy change. It is one of my favorites spots as you can guess from my avatar but it's still a small area. Transformers is a great ride but there is little theming it's a big grey box with a dark ride inside. And Minions is just a new video on an old attraction. Harry Potter has been their biggest additions and have amazing detail and great rides. They have also made some updates to city Walk and a new hotel.  Attractions wise Disney's additions have been similar. Star tours update with new 3d videos (similar to Minion Mayhem), an all new Fantasyland w/ Storybook Circus that re-themed the Mickey's Toontown area and double Dumbo, added Little Mermaid dark ride, Snow White coaster, extensive Belle meet and greet, and restaurant (this is about on par with Harry Potter just a matter of what you prefer but detail and additions to park wise similar). storybook Circus is about on par with the Springfield addition as well. in addition they have rehabbed many other rides, added interactive queues, and other experiences in parks. so universal has added about one addition ride but Disney has added many other experiences. In addition they have made al the changes to their downtown area and resorts, plus the Magic Bands and have been working ahead towards many other additions to open in the next couple years.  I give Universal great credit for really enhancing their parks overall and not trying to down play what they have done at all, but people have been trying to act like they are doing so much more than Disney, whereas in reality Disney has probably done much more overall and appears to have more in the works. For the future what we've been shown for the next couple years at Universal is a new hotel, water park, and Kong ride. Disney has more DVC additions, Frozen ride, Pandora, Rivers of Light nighttime show, night safaris (if you want to count it), and the rest of Disney Springs finishing up. Yes the Star Wars and Toy Story lands will likely be about 4-5 years out but they are being worked on.
shark6495
Exactly. And my whole point was what you said and that it took 3-4 years from announcement to opening for HP. Not to count when they started to design it. I really enjoy both parks. HP is probably one of or the best additions (theme wise) to a park I have ever seen. But I just felt it was wrong to state Disney has done nothing but close things at HS when in reality WDW has been doing a bunch. They may not be what we want but it's huge. purdude86
Looking at the animation footage shown off for this ride it looks like it might be utilizing the rocking cars used on the Seven Dwarves Mine Train coaster. This should make this ride even better. Can't wait for this addition looks like ti should be very good and hopefully won't take too long to get built. It doesn't seem like it will be as intensive to build as Star Wars land as the dark ride is just an expansion of the existing and is mostly screens, the coaster is all outdoors and the other ride looks pretty open. So theming wise shouldn't be too hard to get up. Could see it opening as the first phase of expansion in a couple years then Star Wars another couple years after it. Â I will be curious to see what else gets added here as there is still a lot of open land to build more back around Disaster Canyon and LMA show (assuming Star Wars takes over the Echo Lake area). Tr0y
The track and support renderings look very similar to that of Intimidator 305.
Colonel_SoB_fan
I can't find the link but Disney has decided to alter the ride a little bit and remove some scenes. This move they said was not budget reason but a time reason. They want to get Toy Story land up and running in 2017 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Gabe
I recall the final scene in the 7DMT was dialed back somewhat, both in scope and execution, due to time and money restraints. Â The truth lies somewhere inbetween.

shark6495
My question is the third track in Toy Story Mania.... That's super interesting..... I didn't think the building had room to do it but that's going to be fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Colonel_SoB_fan
From my understanding the third track is in a separate building. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
RailRider
Correct the 3rd track reaches in to the building next door that formerly housed the Pirates of the Caribbean Adventure thingy that was Narnia before that I believe.
