Actually no. It appears they had no connection with the Seattle operation, and no longer have a controlling interest in any of them.

For what it's worth, I have been in touch with the one loved one I have in Seattle, and she is fortunately safe and sound.

 

Thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery to everyone injured, and for peace to the families and loved ones of those whose lives were tragically cut short in this horrible accident..

According to the main Ride The Ducks website, they became an independent company in 2012. The one in Seattle however is independent of the national company.

Critics Say Duck Boats Are Too Dangerous For City Streets:

When I see a quote like this, "While there was no immediate word about the cause of the crash, some noted the safety of the amphibious boats has been questioned before." I sense that I'm being pulled to feel a certain way about these Duck Tour buses.

To be honest, I'd never heard about them until ten minutes ago, when I logged onto KI, and was greeted with a multitude of posts concerning Duck Tours.

Who are these "Some" who are 'Noted"?

There is no immediate word what caused the crash- how about letting people hear the cause after it has been determined, without peppering the news with one's opinion?

 

I'm not for or against these duck things- but I don't like a 'journalist' using 'some' to 'note' things.

What a horrible tragedy. Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims/the families of the victims.

Not good. Not good at all.

Interesting to hear that that was one of the repurposed military vehicles rather than a new purpose-built one. Either way, ignoring recommended safety fixes is never a good thing.

The article says it is not yet known if the Seattle company was aware of the need for the fix.

I'm beginning to wonder if we may see criminal negligence charges in addition to civil litigation..

Company Can Return To Limited Operations, but:

A. Stretch Ducks are not approved.

B. Each Duck must have at least two employees. Also additional mirrors and cameras.

C. Drivers who work more than 12 hours (!) a day must keep logs.

D. Aurora Bridge cannot be used.

E. Proposed route includes Fremont Bridge in City of Seattle, which may not approve its use.

F. Just last week, the company was inspected and had 442 violations and got an unsatisfactory rating. If the company doesn't raise its rating by late January (why is it allowed to operate with this record?), it can be closed again.
