Hindsight is 20/20, foresight was apparently a lot lower. Maybe for 2017, but I suspect it wouldn't be a real dark ride but instead like AFX. It is really too early to say.

Hindsight?

He said the site was too small for a dive coaster....

That's pretty specific.

And obviously wrong.

He also said Cedar Point's coaster era left with Dick Kinzel.

Also wrong.

One thing is certain:

“Cedar Point is long overdue for this quality type of ride,” Slade said

I am still absolutely bamboozled that this park – counted as a destination park with worldwide recognition – doesn't have a single dark ride.

And now, it has one less theater, too.

It's just unbelievable to me, to be very honest with you. Not a single ride that gets you in out of the heat. Practically no restaurants that do, either. And show venues are all very small.

At Kings Island, you've got Flight of Fear, Boo Blasters, Festhaus, Kings Island Theater (and at one time, also Tomb Raider, Action Theater, and more). At Cedar Point, you've got the all-you-can-eat-buffet and a few small show venues. Totally unimaginable to me. Roller coaster after roller coaster after roller coaster, all day long. When friends ask me to go, I typically decline. It's just an exhausting, long, hot day of world record after world record. At least for me, having grown up a few hours away and visiting often, I would like something more. And when I have kids, I don't expect Cedar Point would be on my radar at all. No place to slow down or cool down or be a family. Just... crazy!

Compare the Cedar Point of even 30 years ago.

I still miss the Paddleboat Cruises, the Pirate ride, the flume...

Hey, I thought the site was too small also.  I mean, maybe it was wishful thinking on my part, as I really didnt care what ended up on the site where that one trick pony is going to sit, I was hoping for the majority of 2016 CapEx to go to an RMC revision of Mean Streak.  With my opinion of how CP was operated this year, its likely a moot point for me, considering I likely wont return before my departure for places warmer and more oceanside.

Sorry for the double post, but I have to hit on this.   With less shade, comes (hopefully for Management) more drinks purchased.  "People gotta drink and stay cool"

There are several other restaurants on the Cedar Point property that gets you out of the heat (Famous Dave's, Bay Harbor, Chickie's and Pete's, the restaurants at Hotel Breakers, Chuck Wagon, Johnny Rockets, Joe Cool Cafe...). Whether there is space available inside and you want to spend top dollar for grease is another story entirely.

I do agree though, the general lack of indoor attractions, whether dark ride or theater venues, is seriously annoying.

I agree with the statements made here. Slade might have been wrong about his guess in the article but his statements about a dark ride being what is missing from Cedar Point's line up are correct and hopefully they will see one added soon.

The dive coaster they put in did fill in a gap in the coaster line u p but it didn't do too much for their general ride line up.

Good comments.

I've been hoping for years for something more interesting to come to my home park, only to be disappointed.  At least Valravn is preferable to most of what the other CF parks are getting next year.

Yes, I miss Earthquake, Pirate Ride, Fun House, Western Cruise, etc.  I realize things have to change, but I wish they would get modern rides that would replace what was lost with the removal of those attractions.  Beginning to think it's not going to happen.
