flightoffear1996
I say yes for the main fact if he did PKI would be a one of kind more not that it is because The Beast and other coasters are original but now Paramount owns it and its been cloning it rides. Truthfully I have been very disappointed in Paramount and what they did with the park. even though Carl didn't add a new ride every year. He did add the best coasters in the world imo. CoastersRZ
Actually, the years that the park was owned by Carl Lindner`s American Financial were some of the parks darkest years. They did maintain an addition of at least one new ride over those years. However, they let the park deteriorate and removed several flat rides. While the park is not as unique now since Paramount has branded several attractions the same across all of its parks, Paramount has done a lot of good in the park, especially in the last couple of seasons. In the last couple of seasons the park has focused more and more on giving the guests a pleasing, memorable experience, which is what the orginal developers of the park had imagined when they built it in 1972. Paramount, especially in the last couple of seasons. has added a lot of theming to the park. Carl Lindner was not the original owner of the park, Taft Broadcasting was. Also, Face Off, Top Gun, Runaway Reptar and Flight of Fear, and the Paramount Action Theater are the only cloned rides that Paramount has added. Some of the rides they have added may have the same name, but are in fact different, like the Scooby Ride at Kings Island, Carowinds, and Wonderland. BoddaH1994
I think the Paramount takeover has been a good thing for the park. They do have access to deeper pockets, and being able to use Paramount things is definately cool. **Moving to battle room.
Dan
To say that the park would have been better off if Carl Linder did not decide to sell the park to Paramount is ludicrous. Linder's company American Financial quickly let the park turn into dirt. To this date Paramount buying out the park has been the best thing to happen to KI. The reason why you don't see any of the smaller flats that PKI has had over the years is because of Carl Linder. Instead of spending money, he just decided to remove the less important rides. You guys should be really happy that Paramount bought the park because I think they have done a lot to make PKI a better place.
Stitch
Just look at what Paramount has done by refurbishing the entire park, I think that Paramounts purchase was great for the park.
flightoffear1996
Yes but the park in no longer one of a kind
Stitch
Not one of a kind, we have the the Longest, Tallest, Fastest, Only Looping and cause of the second golden age of roller coasters, wooden coasters. PKI has introduced the suspended, LIM, and first Giant HUSS Rides. I would say we are one of a kind.

There's no way you can even compare PKI to a Six Flags park when it's based on cleanliness, creativity, uniqueness... hell, almost any category you want to think of (minus steel coasters ). docdude316
Carl Linder is not a great businessman in general. It seems like he's of the opinion that people will flock to his businesses just because of what they are. he doesn't seem to understand that in order to make money you have to spend it. He was constantly doing things to keep from spending money while he owned KI, and now he is doing the same thing with the Reds. He's just bad for Cincinnati in general. DegenRider
Linder has no clue what hes doing in anything in the entertainment fields be they theme parks or Baseball Teams. Its been debated and discussed all before. Linder was like a plauge. He did not give proper budgets for maitance and that is why alot of the rides were removed. When King Cobra was built there were 2-3 flat rides there. Even with Delirum there now it doesnt use that much space. When Paramount took over the park it was in shambles. Top Gun would not of been half of what it was until paramount stepped in. They had a licence available that was marketable. At that point and time The Bat was still fresh in peoples mind. They marketed Top Gun so well it was a huge sucess. The Star Trek Earth Tours brought many people into the park. You really start seeing quality improvements at PKI starting in 1996 with FOF 1997 with the Water Works Expansion 1998 with HB. The quality was brought up ALOT from what it was. The wild animal thing didn't work well either thus they had alot of land with nothing on it. Tossing Top Gun back there and calling it Adventure Village kinda was sucky. It was more like a bandaid until they could do somthing else. When Action Zone was built in 1999 you saw the biggest expansion to date. We got the 1st Gyro Drop the 3rd Invirigo(arguably the best Vekoma EVER!) and we got alot of quality improvements with the other rides. Son of Beast was a huge gamble in it self and while starting shaky its paying off. SOB is getting more popular as more work is being done. With Scooby Doo's Castle they took a dark ride that wasn't great and made it a new family classic. They could of done better with the line IMO but it was still fantastic. Delirium and TRTR are both great rides and a step away from the coaster wars. Coasters wore thin and now with new great flat rides we have its even better. Now with Boomerang Bay were going to have a great water park again. Would linder do this.......no We would be Six Flags Kings Island by now if he still had it. First off, as was pointed out the Taft Broadcasting Company (now defunct), not Mr. Lindner's company built Kings Island. I never visited Kings Island before Paramount bought it, so I can't comment from experience. However, based on my research, all the negative things things stated by people about the park while under American Financial's administration was true. Additionally, if American Financial still operated Kings Island today, I doubt that it would even be as good as a Six Flags park...let alone the greatness that Paramount has given it. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:

Grunts Rock
Actually, Racer isn't a clone at all. The turn-around is just slightly different than Rebel Yell at PKD and Thunder Road at PC. RY and TR are the same coaster though.
