Alien Seed
This was my second trip to Universal in the past year, and I have to say it was better than the first thanks to one ride: Revenge of the Mummy. I'll get back to this later, but first: I rode all the usual rides from Hulk to Back to the Future. All still fun, but the rides were breaking down constantly. I was stuck on Spider-man for a half an hour and I was stuck on MIB Alien Attack for 10 minutes twice. Plus, it was cold down there this time. I got a whole tour boat on Jaws to myself because of this. New things I did: 1) Rode E.T.: This ride was creepy in my opinion, like if the smurf ride was infested by aliens with glowing fingers and gov't agents. 2) Used a digital camera on MIB to get my own personal copy of the soundtrack. I just love the vocal music they play in the final area, where you have to shoot the other car and "press the red button." 3) Was a volunteer U-571 commander on Earthquake. If you haven't been here, this probably doesn't make any sense. 4) Rode Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast: WTF. This ride is bad, that's all there is to it. It's just a motion simulator, with a bad movie. I never liked J. Neutron the show, but I thought that with all the other Nicktoons, this ride could be redeemed. WRONG. This movie is too too too busy, cramming all the Nick characters in a movie that is less than 8 minutes long. You end up either giving all attention to the Nick characters and missing the story, or giving all attention to Jimmy and getting a story that has no humor or anything interesting in it whatsoever. It's impossible to pay attention to both, and riding it twice just isn't an option because you wouldn't want to sit through the same crap again. Revenge of the Mummy: I rode this 13 times during my visit. To me, this is not only the best ride they have, but also the best roller coaster I have ever been on. As a coaster, it doesn't do much. It's the theming and effects that make it unique. It starts out as a dark ride, with some awesome animatronics, cgi, and pyrotechnics, among other things. When the coaster finally starts, it takes your breath away, not only with even more great effects on the ride itself, but with some nice airtime and total confusion about your direction and speed. I also brought the camera on this ride, but without flash, most of the pictures did not turn out so well. One last note: ROTM uses the same restraints as FOF, but since you sit higher up, the foot restaint comes up to about midway between your feet and your knees (much more comfortable). Alien Seed
Definitely, about 8 times on Ice, and 3 times on Fire. This is another great coaster, or should I say coasters. There is a difference, and I prefer Ice. It just seems more out-of-control than Fire, which has a lot of "straight" parts in it. One of the ride-ops there, named Steve, saw me with my IJST shirt on, and told me that he used to be a manager of the Ocktoberfest area back in 1994. That was interesting, and I'll have to see if Jill Mohr remembers him.
BoddaH1994
I've also heard that ice is much better than fire.
SOB_TOM
I just want to point something out: You said ROTM didnt do much as a coaster, but the animation made the ride. Can we transfer this thought (at least until we ride it) to IJ please? Im sick of hearin people complain.
Captain Picard
I agree on ROTM, the theme is the best but, I thought FOF was a better coaster. I liked the Q for the interactive things like the place 2 people put there hands and hear the NBC theme. I also like the spy cam that you could blow air at the people on it and freak them out. I don't think most people know about them little things.

Can we transfer this thought (at least until we ride it) to IJ please? Im sick of hearin people complain. I think what people are mostly complaining about is the UPKEEP of Italian Job, at least that is my primary concern. No doubt, I think Italian Job will be a very fun ride when it opens.....and I have no doubts that it'll be well done. However, whats it gonna be like later in the season? Sorry, but Tomb Raider immediately comes to mind. Back on topic, to the original poster, yes Revenge of the Mummy rocks! I rode back in April when they were doing soft openings. It was awesome then, without the animatronics in place. I'm headed down in less than two weeks to give it another whirl and anxiously looking forward to seeing the final product. Glad to hear you enjoyed it as much as you did! - Todd, who likes Fire just because of the funky Immelman / Helix combo element
UncleHenry
What can I say? I'm a fire kinda guy.
Alien Seed
I agree that it is not the ride most of us are worried about, but rather it's maintenance. I was always looking forward to IJST. The only thing I would have changed is I would have put it indoors. I think an outdoor coaster is a bad idea because all the effects are subject to wind and rain among other things. I do wish that I would have ridden IJST before ROTM, though, because it's going to be like comparing MIB: AA to SDATHC. IJST will still be fun, but it will be awful compared to Mummy. familyman
Someone said they had a IJST shirt on. Was that something you made yourself?
Alien Seed
The IJST shirt was the one ride-ops got at the end of the year if they worked a certain amount of hours in October and November. It also says PKI ride-op team, so it is assumed the one wearing it works at PKI.
UncleHenry
Actually, it says "Park Operations Team". I have one myself. I was wearing it and someone asked me what Italian Job was. I said "It's PKI's new coaster for next year." If she asked me at a time that I wasn't going to get my contacts out because they were being a pain, I would've given her a much longer, Jeff Siebert sized explanation, lol. Scooby_Doo
Nice Trip Report I didnt like Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast it was trippy too trippy I wish they would have kept The Hanna-Barbera Motion ride because the new nicktoons one is just awful. E.T. I dont know why you would compare to The Smurfs Enchanted Voyage to E.T. I love (and miss )the smurf ride more. Now Shrek 4D rules and Jaws Rocks those are like my fav attractions at USF. Swinger6
Now Shrek 4D rules and Jaws Rocks those are like my fav attractions at USF. I've never been on the Shrek thing....but I agree that Jaws is cool. Do you think that the fire on the water was really hot, though?? I could definately feel the flames!! Revenge of Mummy is really cool with the theming, i'll agree. I thought it wa over at one point and was like..is this all? Then it kept going and it totally surprised me!! You probably don't know how lucky you were to ride mummy so many times. My family and i waited for the longest time trying to ride it and we only got to ride once b/c there were so many people!! We went in late july. early august. We went to a lot of places and waited the longest for that one ride!!

That's Steve Hill. I saw him at IOA when I was there Dec. 9. He worked at PKI all the way through 1999, my first year.

It's in pretty terrible taste that you'd say something like that, especially from a person who frequents Holiday World.
