Six Flags 2024 Announcement

Recommended Posts

Who's ready to ride the 2024 additions only weeks before they announce the 2025 additions?!

(I kid I kid)

Capital investment is always welcomed in my opinion. While from a chain perspective we're getting a lot of TLC that hopefully will be maintained, I know I'm not the target audience for most of the additions. The biggest move for me was The Bobcat, for a chain that was known to kill off wooden coasters for Iron Horses, this is a change I hope goes to more parks as it's something several parks are lacking.

I do think it's nice that we're seeing a thrilling new-gen Vekoma opening up in the states next year. However, I really don't think The Flash: Vertical Velocity going to fit Great Adventure all that well, primarily because of capacity and I know others have raised their concerns over this as well. Looking at Vekoma's website on the Super Boomerang, they state that the Super Boomerang with one train has a theoretical capacity of 800 r/h. Knowing how Six Flags ops can be, the actual average capacity could very well be lower than that. Keep in mind that Great Adventure is one of Six Flags's most popular parks, serving the Newark, New York City and Philadelphia areas. Given its capacity issues and also the fact it's being built towards the front of the park, I imagine The Flash: VV is consistently going to have the longest wait times in the park, maybe even exceeding 2 or 3 hours on busier days.

The log flume “enhancement” at Six Flags over Texas is interesting and encouraging.

So many log flumes and water rides have been removed in recent decades, and it’s nice to see one get refurnished, upgraded, and even hyped as a marquee attraction.

Regarding Flash at Great Adventure, would be interesting to see the cost difference to add a second train. With all the advancements in “fast track switching” that have come out recently, seems like 2 train ops would be standard equipment on this coaster when installed at larger parks.

I could see Holiday World adding one of these in 5 years or so as a “grown up” compliment to Good Gravy. Could even be on the same land.

I may be in the minority, but I wouldn't mind seeing CF purchase some of those Tourbillon rides to be installed in some of the smaller parks in the chain. Not sure what kind of capacity they have per hour, but they look to low capacity to be in the larger parks. Looks like something that could fit in at Michigan's Adventure, Dorney Park or maybe even Valley Fair.

Back on topic, I think Six Flags is making some solid additions to their chain.
