Which out of those three is the best? I'm just curious because it's a possibilty for me to go to any of them because we don't live too far away from them. If you would, please leave reasons as to why one is better than the other.

My vote goes to KI. KI has the most coasters including two of the greatest woodies of all time who hold almost every record for wooden coasters! The SOB is the only wooden looping coaster! KI also is the #1 ranked seasonal amusement park in the world! PC and PKD are great but KI has the most thrills! biggrin.gif

Once again, this question can never be asked on this forum without a HUGE bias. Considering this is a PKI site, and most of the people on here have never been to another Paramount park, of course PKI will come out on top.

I myself have been to all 3 and this is just my personal choice I like KI better. I think the people who work there are alot more friendlier, the atmosphere is alot better, maybe it's cause I used to work there, but I just like it better.

Hablo has a point, KI cant top PC in steel coasters but KI has some of the best woodies. The worlds tallest gyro drop and the first LIM launched coaster. Is PGA any good? I checked out its site and its coasters on rcdb and it seems like its the least popular Paramount park. I know it had the first flying coaster but thats gone now for a water park. It just doesnt seem as if PGA has as much as the others.

It's all about PKI! On top of all the great thrill rides we have, we are the park that started it all, and look at all the history in our park...1st stand up, 1st lim, 1st suspended, 1st coaster with 6 inversions, tallest gyro drop, 1st woodie with a loop, And Beast is still, the longest and badest coaster on this earth.

Doesn't PKD have FoF and Drop Zone....I guess it comes down to whether you like woodies or B&M steel rollercoasters.

Yes, PKD has FOF. But Kings Island installed FOF first and it was the first caoster to use LIM launch technology. PKD's opened a year later. PKD has a version of drop zone too as do all the other paramount parks but PKI has the worlds tallest gyro drop. Now to clear up any convusion; A gyro drop is a ride like our Drop Zone where there is no floor, you sit in a circular seating, and you spin going up. PKI has the worlds tallest of those. I dont know what PKD's is like but PC's only seats 16 people at a time and shoots you up then you fall back down and shoot upa gain and back down. That is a different type of drop ride.

The one at PKD is a gyro drop too. The only difference is the carrier thing is a lil diferent and the coloring of the pole is different.

Yes it is a Gyro Drop, but PKI's is the tallest.

To clear up any confusion about PKD's Drop Zone... it is NOT a gyro drop. The ring is stationary and does not spin or have the ability to spin if wanted, it is a simple 56 people ring making it the largest drop ride in the world. (2nd tallest behind one in germany, but it has the highest capacity of any ride like it; therefore the world's largest).

Also the comment about PKI's Flight of Fear opening first is not supported by any facts. RCDB lists PKD's as opening June 18, and PKIC lists PKI's as opening June 18. Sounds like they opened the same day to me...

As for what Paramount Park offers the best thrills? How can anyone really say if they haven't been to them all? Most people on here are voting PKI because its the only one they have been to, I have nothing against that. I've only been to PKD and PGA so my vote goes to PKD plus it's my home park. I like to think of myself as an unbiased person when it comes to topics like this, hopefully I'll get up to PKI this summer to see what it has to offer vs. PKD.

RCDB i dont think has the info right although i may be mistaken. Its listed somewhere that KI's was the first to use LIM motors. June 18th may jsut be the public date...KI's couldve opened sooner for media. I remember them making a big deal about it here though when it was under construction about how it was the first to use LIM launches. Im not trying to diss PKD or anything. Yeah this topic is pretty biased. I cant wait to visit PKD, it looks great. Its all a matter of opinion anyways and not everyone shares the same opinion so you can say one is better than the other for a fact.

You know what it could be? Since they did open the same year and they're both Paramount Parks they just don't care about each other (in a nice way) in the sence that they can both say that it is the first coaster to use that technology. It's just that PKI may boast about it much more than PKD does cause PKD does the whole boasting about having more launch coasters than anyone else. laugh.gif

I'm confused about the whole tower hight thing. I know PKD says that their 305 foot tower is the tallest drop ride, while PKI says that their 315 foot gyro drop is the tallest. Is a gyro drop not considered a drop ride or what? I don't get it. I mean a gyro drop is still a drop ride so wouldn't it be the tallest drop ride I don't understand.

PKI's tower

PKD's tower

Can any one clear this up because its confussing me.

My home park right now is PKI. It used to be PKD. I have not been to Carowinds. Here are my takes:

Woody in this Order:

The Beast - My second favorite Woody

Grizzly - My FIRST woody

SoB - Trains could be better

Racer/Rebel Yell - Tie

Hurler - Nothing special

Beastie/Ghoster Coaster - Tie

Steel Coasters:

Volcano - The best Steel in the chain.

FoF (PKI) - better than PKD because of heavy brake in the middle.

Hypersonic - Good launch coaster.

Face/Off - Not in the league of Volcano

Avalanche - One of the rare bobsled coasters

Top Gun - One of the best suspended coasters

Vortex/Anaconda - Wild loopers but getting older now.

Ricochet - Decent Wild Mouse

Shock Wave - Now forgettable stand up.

Advanture Express - OK Mine ride.

Drop Zones - PKI for gyration during inclines.

Italian Jobs - Who knows???

To me, the difference is Delirium and Tasmanian Typhoon.

It's not so much of how tall the tower really is; it's the height/length of the drop that counts in the end.

PKD's is 272 feet reaching 72mph

PKI's is 264 feet reaching 67mph

^ that is where the difference is and which really makes PKD's in the ride experience sense taller. Whoever is going to argue that a taller structure but shorter ride is better has a strange thinking pattern unsure.gif

Ok... pkis drop zone is taller because they have a 15ft antenna at the top. so it really don't reach as high as pkds. Now look at it this way... pki says thier drop is 26stories high and pkds is 27stories high. Pkis drop is 265ft high and pkds drop is 272ft high. Plus pkd drop zone is the TALLEST and FASTEST drop ride in North America. It is also the largest compacity drop ride in the world! Pkis will take up 40 at a time while pkds takes up 16 more people which is 56people at a time. Pkd has no antenna so its drop is really higher and most deff. faster than pkis. Ok... now as for Fligh of Fear... BOTH opened at the same time and BOTH were the 1st to use lims. Pkis was not 1ST. BOTH were...! As for Volcano at Pkd... that is the BEST coaster on my list. The launches literally stab you into your seats at 70mph! It is the BEST feaggin ride on earth. You guys HAVE TO experience it. You never been on it. If you ride it... I garentee you'd love it so much you'll wanna go over and over and over again!!! Pkd has the best thrill. Tomb Raider: Firefall was alot i mean ALOT!!! of fun! It does 8flips and pkis is down in 4flips. Pkds topspin was so cool as well as one of ah heck awsome and intense!!! You have to try that one! Yess... for those of you who are afraid of drop zones drop at pki... HYPERSONIC XLC launch is WAY MORE intense than drop zone. It was so intense that I sweating with fear when I came off and will NEVER ride it again. Way way intense! You don't know how intense it is pki fans! Rebel Yell is better than racer. I know racer does truly race... and pkds don't. Well guess what! Pkds is racing this year and ALL of pkds woodies have NEW SEATS! Plus pkds version of The Racer has more drops and is 10mph faster at 65mph while racer is 55. Grizzly... o yes! GRIZZLY is my favorite wooden coaster in the world. It makes you feel like slaming into trees and tunnels also almost scraping your arn against a ROCK WALL that it turns extremely close to that you CAN touch it and break your arms lol! I went with pkd because I truly think it has the BEST AND MOST THRILL THAN ANY PARAMOUNT PARK! PKI fans NEED TO GO TO PARAMOUNT'S KINGS DOMINION!
