So from what I’m understanding it sounds like a good deal that gold passes will be good for regions. I also saw that those with the all parks passport will be upgraded to the Prestige pass this year.

Six Flags marketing can make this new season pass structure sound so nice but think in reality it’s their dumbest marketing move yet (and if this is what SF marketing management was thinking, why didn’t they do it before the fall MVP sale? Reminds me of when JC Penney went to a not having any sale prices model with the lowest price being offered everyday that miserably flopped). Now pass holders will be totally confused on what their benefits really are for 2026 and what they will get with a renewal in 2027. Sure, it’s great that my 2026 gold pass with all park passport will be upgraded to prestige all region for 2026 at the end of February (so I can go to all 4 regions this year) but this will likely result in way too many trying for the prestige benefits like KI premium parking and lounge access, not to mention the previously purchased prestige being basically downgraded for 2026. I think SF management is wrong to think people will pay the extra (and am sure it will be a substantial amount) to keep prestige all region in 2027 to attend the other regional parks as opposed to the simpler all park gold pass access. This change is making me reconsider my travel plans in 2027 to several of the other regional parks.

I think this is a consequence of pass sales not being where Six Flags wants them as well as the new leadership potentially pushing more for the regional pass structure to come quicker. There's a nice chance that the 2027 pass sales will look very different to the 2026 sales, but we might have to go through a whole lot of experiments this season before finding out. It feels like the largest regional park operator in North America keeps trying things out to see what works for both companies instead of working out how they could make everything function without shifting the strategy every three months.

One of the biggest changes might come if Six Flags ends up selling off parks for 2027.

Only if you paid for the APP, which was fairly close to Prestige pricing to begin with.

I'm skeptical about this really being primarily about driving per capita spending in parks. I still think very few people go to more than one park.

I'd say it's primarily a new strategy to add value (read: charge more for) the gold pass while minimizing blowback. People are used to $125 gold passes, and I don't know if those will exist when people buy the enhanced gold passes for 2027. I can see it now, "Get access to Kings Island and 10 other parks for just $12.50 per month ($159.99 total)!

Nothing to do with adding value. They’re not trying to be generous.

Yes "add value" was my attempt at selling it in their terms. It's about giving something away that costs them almost nothing in order to increase the price of the pass.
