CoastersNSich
I got back from the park a few hours ago. First, if anyone is thinking about going up for a couple hours... DON"T. The Park closed at noon, just two hours from opening. Why? Just so windy, cold, wet, and few people. It was one of the worst days, and probably the worst Jeff Siebert could remember. Upon entering the park, I got a souvenir cup (free) which I believe gets me refills all season long for 99¢. Nice deal. I first did Flight of Fear, twice. Lights on! Honestly, I like the ride a bit better with the lights on, because it doesn't happen so often. Next, Dodgems. Weak and slow... that's all I'll say. The Beast (one ride, back seat) was running with two trains, not much of an issue today. No different than I remember, a bit rough but still fast and fun. Some of my friends love the SpongeBob in 3-D, so we did that as well. It's nonsensical and whimsical, but still a favorite. Our final ride of the day was Scooby-Doo! and the Haunted Castle... I always get the lowest score of my peers! At closing time, noon, Jeff Siebert gave the luck souls who stayed around a tour of IJST. Instead of walking the perimeter, like on the last two tours, we got to go up closer, into the station, and... tour the tunnel between the middle and end of the ride! I got some photos of the splash-ending area and the station, but was not alllowed to take any too up close or in the tunnel. I'll post some of the photos I took soon. Also, Happy Days Diner looked great, and I'm looking forward to some of the new food options, like Graeter's and Chick-fil-A. Starbucks is going in the old French pastry shop, and the old hand dipded ice cream stand will now sell donuts.
familyman
Thanks for the info. Looks like no Graters tomorrow. Yea even when it's cold I would stand there freezing and enjoy it.
CoastersNSich
Note: The park will still be open tomorrow at 10 am, and up until 8 pm, weather permitting. It closed at noon today because of the lousy weather and very low attendance. Honestly, I was glad they closed it early, not only for me, but for the people working! CoastersRZ
Yeah, it was pretty brutal, especially walking back out to the parking lot! The thing that got me though, is when we were leaving Spongebob, The Vortex photo booth had workers in it, when The Vortex was closed. It seems like they should have been sent home (this was at around 11:10) so the park wouldn`t loose more money than they already lost today. TopThrill
Yea when I was there friday night, Happy Days Dinner looked good. I did see Jeff Siebert, as I was walking back to the rides office. It was cold, and wet.

TheKlockster
I had a lot of fun today - despite the weather. Rode Delirium first thing, then Flight of Fear, then Tomb Raider. Doesn't sound like much - but think about this - I have never rode them, and until today was scared to death to go near them. Delirium is AWESOME - I can't wait to ride again. Flight of Fear is great - and is now my favorite coaster. The highlight was Tomb Raider. BEST RIDE EVER! I hope I can ride all three again tomorrow! Reclaimer
Really? You don't seem the type to have not ridden those.

The people who run the on ride photo booths are not hired or payed by PKI. They are an ran by an outside company. That is why you seen them still there, as they probably had no clue Vortex wasn't going to open or the park was going to close early. Back in the early days they were required to wear PKI wardrobe, but now they wear their company names on there shirts. Amazing Photo's runs most of if not all of the photo booths at PKI. CoastersRZ
Yes, but PKI receives/pays for their services, right? I know PKI receives some money from the on ride photos they sell.
TraderJake
Yes, but PKI receives/pays for their services, right? I know PKI receives some money from the on ride photos they sell. Colorvision (Amazing Pictures), Kodak, and other concessionaires all are under contract with the park. They are obligated to give a percentage of the revenue they make to the department they are affiliated. For example, there is Merch Concessions and the Merch Owned locations. All photo operations are run by a concession. In 2002 PKI tried an owned photo operation, but it didn't work out as spectacularly as planned, and has since been a storage location for a Merch Owned and Food Owned operation. CoastersRZ
Would that perchance be the TR:TR photo booth that was built and used for the 2002 season before going dark in 2003?
TheKlockster
Really? You don't seem the type to have not ridden those. Yeah - I didn't fit on it last year - and on top of that - looking at them scared me - so I never rode. But I love all three of them now. They are incredible. Especially Tomb Raider. TRTR Guy
Today was allright, we got 7 rides in on 5 different rides (Delirium, South Racer, FOF twice, Beast, and TR:TR twice) Its a good thing the park did close early, right after noon, the wind started to gust really strong, plus the gross attendenance was only like 800 or so. DragonLord
You had to love the weather today. The first 1000 passholders got the cups, and most of them left after getting it. 99 cent refills all season long if you bring the cup back! Colorvision is now in charge of all the photoboths, Kodak is no longer in the park. Hopefully they will get the SOB and Beastie photoboths back up and running soon. Thanks for all those who did stuck around for the couple hours we were open!
TRTR Guy
Colorvision is now in charge of all the photoboths Pretty sure that Amazing Photos is still in the park, at the same rides they had last year.
BoddaH1994
Hats off to all those who attended the tour. We didn't even know about it until we were sitting in the warm and toasty lobby of Chipolte... to be honest, I don't see too much love loss by missing it, though. I have seen the perimeter of the ride, and now I don't want to see any more until I'm on it for myself.

We were in the park the whole time it was open yesterday, talked to a bunch of people and not one said anything about a tour! Ryan: "Is that the new smoking section? Oh, wait, thats just an electrical outlet" /had to be there
