Gordon Bombay
The Antique cars were a drain on money and removing them saved the park some. In the long run it probably costs less to run IJ every day than it does the tiques everyday.
harvesterofyoursorrow
I bet you if the Tiques come back it will be an electric rail type system instead of gas.
Gordon Bombay
^Very True, theyd have to be retrofitted.
Vortex
I bet you if the Tiques come back it will be an electric rail type system instead of gas. That or plug them in at night.

In the long run it probably costs less to run IJ every day than it does the tiques everyday. I hihgly doubt that, the antique cars used a combined total 0f like 20 gallons a day if that, plus had a crew of either 3 or 4 working the ride. IJ has a higher crew number, so that cost more right there, plus firing those LIMs arent cheap. I know with Flight of Fear each launch used about 3 MegaWatts of power, IJ probably uses less than that though, but you also have to remember, the Propane used for the fire scene and all other effects, resulting in more technicians needed to work the ride, and get it ready each day. Pkirocker77
You have a point there TRTR Guy. A new ride has lots of maintence, especially something with that much theming. It takes propane to run the fire, that costs money. It costs money to use the water effects, and using LIMs isn't the cheapest thing ever. They have maintence problems. The crew I think is about the same as the 'Tiques crew in number, but I don't really pay attention. Anyways the 'Tiques and the Flyers were always fun and they're a part of PKI memories. But I've grown fond of IJ. I don't like it as much as the Flyers or the 'Tiques, but at least it's something semi-fun that almost everyone in the family can ride. I would love the 'Tiques back even if they were re-themed as well as the Flyers.
Captain Picard
I would bet the antique cars each used about .5-1 gal per hr. A new ride gets more people in the park and would more than cover the costs of maintence.
TRTR Guy
I would bet the antique cars each used about .5-1 gal per hr. Nah, I've filled them up at night before.
harvesterofyoursorrow
Still, with the rising cost of gas, I think Kings Island would retrofit it to electric becuase its cheaper, and less noise (so themeing can have more of an effect on the rider). normal
I really don't think they would even retrofit them to electric it would be a ton cheaper on them to just buy new cars if they were going to electric

TOPGUN1993
They could make a ride behind Derlirium and take out DOT there would be a lot of room there because you can us up the King Cobra space that has not been used. They could use this space for the cars or a new ride.
Captain Picard
I would have no problem with the removing of Days of Thunder, Congo Falls and Xtreme Skyflyer.
TOPGUN1993
When you ride Drop Zone look at DOT and the room behind Delirium and see how much space is not being used.
Pkirocker77
Nooo! Not Congo Falls! I'm okay with the skyflyer and DoT, but definatley not Congo Falls.
TOPGUN1993
I like Congo Falls and skyfly but I dont like DOT. I wouldn't mind if they were gone.
CoastersRZ
Why remove Congo Falls? It is the only water ride on that side of the park. Additionally it has a rather good capacity. I don`t see them removing any of their upcharge attractions soon. My choice for a new ride would be on the old Flight Commander site. Simply because I really do not want to see more congestion in the already congested Action Zone. I don`t see what the big appeal of the Eurobungees are, especially paying $7 or $8 for them. That location would make a prime viewing location for an awesome flat ride, IMO. A nice large midway for people to watch the ride, withough obstructing the flow of traffic (like what happens by Slingshot).
Reclaimer
Very good point...and very good idea. The Eurobungie is something that some people may enjoy once or twice, simply because of the novelty factor. But really, it's not worth $8 a "ride" for the cheap thrill it brings...and I don't see many people wanting to pay to jump on a trampoline on steroids. ...I say, put a nice flat there. Something free, no an upcharge attraction, that all can enjoy. I have yet to ride any upcharge attraction at the park.
CoastersRZ
I`ve riden Days of Thunder, but that was because when I rode it on a P&G day at Kings Island, they had rented out the go karts and there were free unlimited rides on them all day. Also, I won two passes to ride Skyflyer from this site last Christmas. I have not had a chance to ride it yet, but I intend on doing so in a couple weeks (as a way to celebrate finishing another quarter of classes at UC). SlingShot gets NASTY congestion on that small Oktoberfest pathway, they need to build a set of bleachers like on Dragster lol
CoastersRZ
Yes, the congestion on that midway is terrible, especially on busy days. People have a tendency to just stop in the middle of the path, not realizing that the people wallking behind them want to get through. Other than relocating the slingshot, I`m not sure if there is much the park can do to improve the circulation on that path. There really is not room to install bleachers because the back porch to Bubba Gump`s/ Lt. Dan`s bar is right there.
Gordon Bombay
I rode Days of Thunder for the first time when I was 7 and loved it. I recently rode it again a couple of weeks ago and thought it was totally lame. Once youve ridden the go karts at places like Nascar speedpark, you see how boring and dull DOT is. Even if you havent been on a major go kart track its still pretty boring. You can go in circles even faster in your car.
