Storm Damages PKI Sign

Featured Replies

The large white sign that has been standing for over 30 years blew over last night because of the strong winds. Jeff Seibet said it was the only major thing that got damaged. Reports say that some light post also gave during the strong winds. The storm just missed guests of last nights "Pride Night." Pride Night is sponsord by local gay organazations. Everyone made it out safely.

I will be heading up there today (Sep. 27, 2003) to get a few pictures or the damage.

lol... As long as no one got struck by lighting in the parking lot, it's all good.

:D

It's really sad to see those photos, but then again, at least it was just the sign. First of all, no major attractions were damaged or destroyed and most importantly, no one was hurt.

Dane,

Thanks for taking the time to take pictures. I live over 3 hours away so I would have missed this.

Someone clue me in. Was this the digital sign that would flash different things.. like Kings Island.. the temp, the time.. upcoming events? I'm totally at a loss here.

My internet has been down. Anyway it is sad that one of the parks signs have fell. At least it wasnt the Effil Tower. Who know it could have been worse then what it was. Kinda funny on pkiu I recently made a topic called what if a torando hit pki i know what knocked the sign down wasnt a tornado it was straight line winds.

Thats what the sign used to look like

Jeff Seibert said it would be replaced with a bigger and better sign that was more modern.
