Winterfest Question

I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed (I looked for it, but honestly didn't look that hard...)

Are advanced purchase Winterfest tickets for a particular date, or are they good at anytime during the event? I ask since a much smaller portion of the park will be open, total capacity will be lower, and I wonder if certain dates will "sell out" in advance (i.e., New Year's Eve).

Thanks--

Actually, you can do it either way.

Good Any Day tickets are online for $19.95 - good for admission any one day during Winterfest, with the dnager that you may get denied entry if the park reaches capacity.

Specific Day Ticket - $17.95 - Good for amsssion the one day you select when you purchase the ticket. This ticket in essence 'holds' a spot for you and guearantees access on the one date marked.

It appears the season passholder special for $16.95 - good any day offer has been taken off the table.

Jeff mentioned that tickets are non-refundable, but he did say off-hand that if they park has frequent sell outs (thus making the good any day tickets worthless) they may try to do the right thing.

I also note that they are preselling dinner tickets for Festhaus and Bubba Gumps. ($14.95)

It sppears that they want to get as much money as possible into ther hands as quickly as possible, before the event starts. Almost pay for event before it takes place. Then again, Jeff said they wanted a more upscale experience, maybe part of the plan is to get you to buy the admission and meal tickets in advance, that way when you day to visit rolls around, you have forgotten how much you have paid for it.

I disagree. I intend to get a couple of any day tickets and be there at 4:00 sharp when I go. I'm counting on PKI.com having blackout dates of the we have pre-sellouts, but I doubt that would be the case (with maybe the exception of the first day). If it does reach capacity, it'll probably be around 6:00 or so when people will really start to file in, but then again.. if I show up at 4:00 I'm already in. lol

The reason that they are charging pass holders for admission is the same reason that sell outs are being discussed. The park does not want huge amounts of crowds in the park, and thus hindering the experience of those attending. The cost for season pass holders is to prevent all the thousans of pass holders from inundating the park and making for long lines. Keep in mind that not all of the park is open. This is the same reason why they may close the gates at certain days if they reach capacity. They want the experience to be good for all attending.

Yes, I realize the reason being given. I don't hold it to be valid though. Winterfest had never been an added price for season pass holders. In fact, they usually allowed you in if you were a new pass holder buying your pass during Winterfest. Part of the thing that makes Winterfest enjoyable is having it busy. I can tell you that there are going to be week nights that they're only going to get a couple thousand people. You know that even with only part of the park open, a couple thousand make for a very empty park.

True. They have their reasons. I`m sure if crowds are light on weekdays, they might change it for future Winterfests. (Look what they eventually did with FearFest). I`m thinking that part of the reason why they are pushing the advanced ticket sales, is so that they can help offset the huge upfront costs of all the decorations. And to guage what the particularly busy nights will be to adjust their staffing.

But what happens if the park decides to not open one evening due to snow emergencies? Would everyone who bought tickets in advance be out of luck? Or will PKI comp them tickets to attend on another evening? I know at the final ride of the season on The Beast, Jeff Siebert said they have preventative measures in place to treat the midways before snow is forecasted to melt the snow and ice as it falls, in addition to the regular snow and salt methods. Although he did say that if there were snow emergencies in the surrounding communities and traveling was to treacherous for employees and the guests, that they would not even try to open.
