^Because to post a picture in the forums here he would need the html code for it, which unless your a webmaster for this site or its gallery you dont have acces to the html codes, so a link is what needs to be provied. By the way, I will have the Jungle Jims pictures up soon...

That building in the back is the monorail station and that picture was put there to keep people guessing, lol, that elephant used to be in a PKI fountain in HB land and now that a ton of people see it theyre probably gonna make comments about how much they miss it and how the park was stupid to take it out and how they cant cope with change *rolls eyes*, i bet a bunch of old school fan boys will flock to it at Jungle Jims like catholics to that bleeding virign mary statue out in California.

Yup!

We used to toss people in that fountain after the park closed.

I'll try to dig up a pic of one of the cashier foremen being tossed in the fountain. It looks like she's gonna deck someone when she gets out.

I live like a mile away from Jungle Jims.. haha. Did you know there building a cici's pizza there?

There already is a Back.. and Sarbucks. I don't remeber what else they are building. I think there is an icecream place but I don't remeber.

Why would you not be able to post a picture?

In response to both Wooferbear and Coasterguy - the reason I cannot post my pictures is that they were taken up close. Those Beastbuzz photos were taken from like 100 feet away or more. Mine were taken from a distance of as close as 3 feet... Not sure the park wants people to see that - cause if they did they would have it on display in the middle of the park. But yeah - my photos totally OWN any of the KC track photos on PKICentral, as they were taken from extremely close proximity to the track.

A back? At Jungle Jims currently there is a 5/3 bank themed after a Roman style building, maggie moo moo's ice cream, starbucks coffe, then when i was there the other day the backside of the store features a carpet outlet and some other stuff that i dont exactly remember. A couple years ago I was working for my neighbor with a company called "Dan's Striping" who was re-painting the parking lot lines for Jungle Jim and laying out plans for the new parking lot section, one day while working we actually got to talk to Jungle Jim and he told us about the plans for the mono rail which unfortuanently have been pushed back, but it is going to happen. Ill talk more about that when the pictures are finnaly done.

BTW, Klocksters pictures show much better what state the King Kobra track is in and shows evidence of how the ride was dissasembled. The ride was never intended to be sold as ana musement ride again, the way it was taken down was not wtih fantastic care, it was just for sale as scrap metal and spare coaster parts. Im sure if Klockster can get the right permissions he will post them.

Yeah I still have you totally owned... The people who have seen the pictures can vouch for me. They totally beat anything an ACEr or fanboy could take. laugh.gif

Oh and Orange 5 is better than Orange 2. cowboy.gif

Orange 5 is the ultimate Troika experience this side of Bremen Germany! biggrin.gif Anywhere on the orange arm is awesome - but I always took 5. It was a totally arbitrary number I chose one day when I was test riding it during my break.

Im gonna recreate this great coaster and its "theming" and que line in RCT3 then put it up for download, theres some stuff I dont remember about the ride though, any one got any good pics of the station?

I find the whole thing sad! thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif they need to keep at least one train, Just maybe someday they will have a museum to defunct rides in the park and KI past.

I Think that is a great idea too. But where would they put a museum ? I think a museum would be very intersesting. Doesn't Cedar Point have one ?

The real reason pki shut down the kc was because the company who made the coaster togo went out of buness and the kc needed tons of spare parts like bolts and car restrants and they could get them only form the company tog that is gone

While replacement parts were hard to come by, I think it was more related to the downtime related to replacing parts that were wearing out. Not to mention its ridership had declined in its later years. The park simply deemed that it was not worth the maintenance issues to keep it around.

Posted

^Ok its time to clear some things up.

FACTS:

-King Cobra is closed

-King Cobra's remains sit in a field behind the park that is off limits to guests.

-Maintenance issues with the ride coerced the park to close it after it was assesed that the space could be utilized for another ride(s) that would have better uptime and potentially draw more guests.

-The coaster was getting older and as obvious signs showed, it wasntholding up as well as other coasters in the park.

-Spare parts in North America are NOT hard to get for these coasters built by Togo, other Togo coasters still operate throughout North America including two other stand ups at Paramounts Kings Dominion and Paramount's Canada's Wonderland, and a Togo Hyper out in Las vegas at the New York New York resort.

-Togo went out of business in North America after its loss in a lawsuit with Knotts Berry Farm, Togo's North American headquarters were in Cincinnati Ohio.

-As Boddah1994 confirmed, and others who were on the tours and who have seen the track up close can testify to the fact that the ride was dissasembeled with no intent as being sold as an amusement ride again.

-While on the internet for sale, it was only for sale as spare parts, track, and trains.

-At one point the trains were almost bought, but the deal fell through.

-King Cobra is not coming back, not at Kings Island, not at any other park, ever.

-No one was ever killed riding King Cobra although accidents did occur on Shockwave, a similar Togo stand up at Kings Dominion.

While KI has never confirmed why they removed KC for exact reasons many speculate that it was the steel that KC was built out of. Togo had a bad reputation with many of its coasters in America being built from cheaper Jappanesse steel that didnt withstand heat too well and that this is what led to the demise of King Cobra. Whatever the reason, Togo has a sullied reputation in North America for building coasters that have had accidents due to restraint problems, horrible maitnenace issues (KBF lawsuit) and horrible aging, as well as extremely rough rides (the New YOrk New York coaster in vegas). However, they still seem to be very profitable in Japan.

Remaining Facts:

There really was not a lot of down time.

I supervised WAH Carts for a period and the ride was almost NEVER down. Ridership was always cojnsistant and had always been higher than Amazon Falls.

Posted

The asking price was 1.1 mil, and I doubt that the trains alone would go for that.

Actuallty, KC's trains might not have cost 1 mil., but these days, the trains for most coasters are around the 1 million mark. I know that Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister's trains all cost a million a piece. That's about the average price these days. I believe that the cost is one of the main reasons that MF's trains will not be replaced to accomodate larger riders.

Sorry, I wasnt clear, in the past few years it was open i meant, toward the end of its life it suffered a lot of downtime.
