December 29, 200520 yr Does anyone know if the lighting for Winterfest on the Eiffel Tower will be permanent? It looks much better then the old flood lights they have for it.
December 29, 200520 yr like take down the christmas lights part of it then just have the colored lights up on the tower, i hope so its really nice looking
December 29, 200520 yr I don`t know. I also wondered if they would keep up the lights (and keep them lit) outlining the buildings on International Street. They used to have all the buildings outlined, until they started running out of replacement bulbs because the lights were so old. Rather than have half the lights working, they opted to just turn them off.
December 29, 200520 yr I noticed that, too! The spotlights make the tower look "sharper" (hi-def!) at night than do the flood lights. In fact, I've mentioned before in other posts that the tower looks like something out of an industrial plant, or oil refinery when lit with floods. When I was a kid, the Eiffel Tower looked a lot more majestic when the lights came on. Lately, it looks awful (especially with the bright, 'square' lamps that shine down from just above the upper deck. Looks like a big street light). I hope they reconsider the lighting scheme; it would bring back a touch of Kings Island magic that has been missing for some years now.
December 29, 200520 yr They had the lights like that during the 4th of july fireworks. I would also like to see the lights stay, it give more of that Hollywood effect... and thats what PKI is aiming for!
December 29, 200520 yr i agree, with the colored lights it looks very colorful and "magical"lol but without the colored lights at night it looks bland
December 29, 200520 yr Last year (2004) they had purple blacklights on the Tower. This year, they did not have it though.
December 29, 200520 yr No, I believe that they did illuminate the tower this year with the "blacklights" which were nothing more than a film placed over the traditional spotlights. However, they kept the spotlights atop the tower illuminates, as those lights provide general illumination to several of the surrounding midways.
December 29, 200520 yr Not to mention that when we work up there, we need to be able to see people atop, and to see if they are misbehaving by throwing stuff off or other similar disruptions.
December 29, 200520 yr OK, maybe install new lighting on the observation decks and lights about halfway up to light the surrounding area. Then, leave the new floodlights on it. It'd look better than it does now, like a giant street light.
December 29, 200520 yr I think they should have a colorful light show on the tower that correlates with the Fireworks Spectacular every night.
December 29, 200520 yr I think they should have a colorful light show on the tower that correlates with the Fireworks Spectacular every night. That would be cool.

I really miss that and it really makes IS look nice! I certainly understand PKI not wanting to have them on if some of the lights are burned out, but they would always do something drastic like *replace* the burned out bulbs...
December 31, 200520 yr Yep. They removed the lights outling the buildings on International Street a couple of years ago. 2002 I think. They removed them because the wiring was 30 years old, and they could no longer locate replacement bulbs that would work with the wiring. All they did that first year was simply turn the lights off. The original lights were eventually removed over the following years.
January 1, 200620 yr OUCH! Talk about CHEAP! If that's true, that should put to rest any thoughts that the park has a concentration on theming.
