Happy Birthday to Thunder Road!

Featured Replies

Nowadays, Thunder Road is just one of a dozen coasters at the park. But oh, the stories it can tell. On its second weekend, a man plunging down the coaster's 93-foot drop lost his false teeth. The park staff searched all day and found them around closing time, under the tracks.

Which makes sense, considering how the teeth took flight in the first place. As the park's "promotion man" told the Observer at the time: "He lost them in a scream."

Reall cool. Carowinds is a fantastic park. Thunder Road is a different experience than Racer and the park features my favorite coaster Top Gun: The Jet coaster. I also love the Stank Mikita's donuts restauraunt there, darn I wish I wouldve had my camera when I went there, I'll have to drive there this summer now.

I hope you mean Happy Days, I don't know if the menu changed or not.

On the subject of Thunder Road, the Weather Channel just showed Thunder Road, and the prmotional stunt the park did with 30 sets of twins riding the ride 30 straight times. Glad to see another one of these classic racing coasters staying in the spotlight!
