flightoffear1996
I thought I was going to a paramount park and not a six flags park today. For awhile I actually thought that his park was being run by six flags. Got threw the metal dectors very quickly at about 1:30 or so. I saw the season pass line which seemed to be about 2 hours long thank god I didn't have to wait. We wasted our time even walking over to Action Zone part of the park because only 2 things were open dropzone and congo falls. Dropzone had a line that was spilling out on to the pathway so it was over a 3 hour wait. Screw that. We then went to Coney mall to only find that The Racers was closed. So we walked back to ride Flight of Fear and only wait about 45 minutes or so to ride that. Next we went to Vortex. That was a short 15-20 minute wait. The crew in the station was horrible stacking the trains just about every time. We walked over to Italian Job Stunt Track and guess what. That ride was closed too! WTF? We then headed over to ride The Beast which had almost every line filled up from what I could tell. So we didn't ride that either. Tomb Raider was closed and the Train was closed. We went over to Nick Universe and I got some pictuers only about 10 or so. We rode that gaint Avtar thing. Lucky it was broken down just a short time before we got thier so we had no wait. Then my cousin went to play some games and we went home. Overall Nick Universe looked like a nice place and a good investment for the park but it looks like in the off season they forgot about everything else. The employees sucked with slow loading times and they only had a few rides operating from what I could tell. This was the worst trip I have ever had. The prices for food has sky rocketed and the park pathways seemed dirty. O yea they got a yellow jacket problem as they were chasing guest around the park all day long. This Visit gets a mere 1 out of

Legend Rider
Openning Weekend Jitters, it happens... Wait a week and try again. They openned pretty early, not quite as early as Dollywood, but hey.
PKIVortex
I went 2 days this weekend. Friday and Sunday. Friday was more busier then Sunday. I didn't incounter too many rides that were not running. Other then Face/Off on Sunday and Delirum on Both days. But Yesterday I had a great day, rode alot of rides. I understand they are going to be some problems on opening weekend. Things will just get better as the time goes by.
flightoffear1996
I sure hope so. I don't think Im going to go for about two weeks to let them get the get some of the kinks out of the rides. I hope they dont operate the entire season like this cause I will be only going a few times if they do.
PKIVortex
Things will get better. Give them a break. The things with rides not working is understandable. Things at PKI that I have a problem with so far this year, is the higher prices of stuff. And the fact on Friday with the amount of traffic waiting to get into the parking lot, they should have had both gates open.

This Visit gets a mere 1 out of 10 I'm guessing ya ain't been to Six Flags recently? I was at Six Flags St. Louis on Saturday... I think the old Six Flags mentality is gone. Just about everything was open, the new Bugs Bunny National Park (kids area) was beautiful, and friendly staff all around. Crowds were light, but just a beautiful day. SF parks must be making a turnaround for the better! Is Paramount the flip-side of this?
WooferBearATL
It certainly sounds like it. I seem to be hearing raves about all the Six Flag parks that are open at this time. I've heard good comments about Carrowinds but I've heard very negative things about PKD (which always gets negative comments) and PKI. flightoffear1996
Maybe paramount bought six flags and six flags bought paramount? NOTE - I don't meana single word I just typed.
Browntggrr
Things will get better. Give them a break. The things with rides not working is understandable. I could understand if one or two of the newer rides (i.e. Delirium, TR:TR) were down, but for rides like The Racers & FaceOff that have been around for a number of years; not being ready for the season opener there really is no excuse except for bad planning. PKIVortex
I don't think it was bad planning. Opertional problems happen. I'm sure all the rides were ran quite a few times before opening day. I'd think they would have had to to pass state inspection.

I'd think they would have had to to pass state inspection. Operation Problems=Bad Planning. There is absolutely no reason why every ride in the park could not have been tested and run the week prior to opening. I remember one year they were running Vortex the night before Dry Run. We had a supervisor dinner at International Restaurant and some of us walked back to watch it run.
Erosarrow05
Thats kind of a dumb thing to say... If you dont have the staff to staff the rides, they obviously cant open... Out my 3 years of servitude i can vivdly remember rides not being open on dry run day, or even the first second or third weekends ... school is still is session afterall. And im sure all the 'negative' comments youve been hearing are from 'enthusiests' so you have to take all of them with a grain of salt.... be it pki cp sfmm who ever :-D
PKIVortex
I Heard they were not a Dry Run Day this year. Is this the first year that they haven't had a Dry Run Day? If it is, do you think this is why they were lots of problems this weekend?
WooferBearATL
I Heard they were not a Dry Run Day this year. Is this the first year that they haven't had a Dry Run Day? If it is, do you think this is why they were lots of problems this weekend? I'm certain that this is one of the major issues. People commented that it looked like they had just opened the gates with no cleaning or preperations. I can think of no year in the past that there was not a Dry Run Day. Infact, there is usually a Dry Run Day and then a Media Day to show off the new attractions to members of the press and select guests. BoddaH1994
I always get frusterated with the ride crews around opening weekend and fear a really bad season, but you have to realize that they have a lot of new people, and for everyone else, they haven't been on the job in months. Give them a chance and you'll see the A+ employee reemerge that we're used to.
Buckeye-Beast
I was there yesterday, (4-16), other than the closed rides in AZ I had a great visit, no more than a 15 minute wait for anything except Sling Shot. Prices were a little higher, but that's inflation. I finally picked up Kings Island-opoly, I've been wanting it since I saw it on here during Winterfest. It sounds like flightoffear1996 had a black cloud overhead all day, I hope your next visit is better.
TopThrill
I was there on opening day, that was a long 10 hour day. My department was under staffed some what, from the fact that most of our people are still in school. I was shocked to see that the Train ride will be closed still BB is open, that kind'a make me mad haveing a ride closed till the end of may and not telling people about that(at the front gate, along with SOB). They do have two yellow billborad things outside the front gate, but the lettering is written in small type. Were its not a eye catcher, there were charning full prices and little over half the major rides were down, to me that shouldn't have be going on. But the next two weekends more rides were running and every, so its better now. Hope you come back flightoffear1996!
Outdoor Man
a tough thing about a seasonal park is the turnover that occurs during an "off-season." Parks in florida and much of the southern half of the US being open year-round don't have that problem.... employees durations overlap. It can only be expected that a seasonal park is going to have some rough edges in the early weeks. It would be awful if you paid regular admission for what it appeared opening weekend was though. DevilMayChew
We have had Great staffing since opening, Rotations have been on time and i think its running smoothly. The newbies at FOF still need to get use to the hard work and i just need to re-adjust from doing nothing all winter >.<. We should all be fit to run once daily operation starts. I think the reason we are only open weekends is to warm up the ride for its daily operation, get the new guys used to the work, re-adjust, and do some testing on the new employees. I havn't visited the park as a guest yet, but i plan on doing so on my first scheduled off day later on in May Ive already seen some POOR staff behavior already. While on the clock they run around, ride rides in uniform, SMOKE! i tried to tell a couple kids from games not to smoke out in public, i got the finger I see some short staffing in the near future when 90% of the new staff is fired lol
The New England Snapper
Yeah honestly as most of you know I took a job up here at Six Flags New England over the winter! So far from working at PKI the last two seasons, 04' Beast/ Scooters crew, 05' Sup at WWC! I am a Lead here at SFNE Which is just like a supervisor at PKI. Ill tell you what I love the enviroment here at the park! Its our 45th Anniversary!! So we are all saying "Happy 45th"! In our Rockville themed area they have kool costumed caracters walking around and talking about the Sock Hop in the Rockville Gymnasium later that night! Its so much fun walking down the Midway and seeing stuff that people wrote in chalk on the ground. Stuff like "Johny meet me in front of the Gymnasium at 7:00!" "Everyone do the twist" "Happy 45th Anniversary" Come play the Games at Rockville U.S.A!!" Its clever stuff and the G.P. LOve it! THey have Djs on the midways and our parade isnt as kool as PKI's but its still a kool idea! They also have marching bands play in the parade which I think is a really kool idea! As ride Ops we are trained to give our guest High Fives all the time and be energetic! They give us kool fun hats to wear while we operate the rides! The hats are themed to the ride as well! Batman and Robin are constantly walking around the midways talking to little kids and getting there pictures taking with them! One thing that I really think is a darn good Idea is in Looney Tunes Movie Town Bugs Bunny and friends ride the kiddie rides WITH the kids! I love the Idea and Honestly Six Flags is a whole new park! Its NOT about the thrill rides or the shows but the EXPERIANCE!!!! I'm not trying to make PKI look bad! I love the park to death and my friends from the park to death as well! I'm honestly glad that Im not back at PKI this season because its all about the budget and saving money and you cant run a huge Theme Park like PKI while trying to save money! Six Flags is off to a GREAT new start and I hope EVERYONE goes down to SFKK and SFGAmerica to experiance the new begining of SIX FLAGS! HAPPY 45th!!! PKIVortex
Kings Island is falling apart as we speak; with its ametuer employees and ride down time. Kings Island is not falling apart. Yes they have been some cuts. But I'm sure by full season that all the rides will be in operation. I'm looking forward to my first SOB ride of the season. Can't wait till it opens. Hopefully at the end of this month.
DevilMayChew
Kings Island is falling apart as we speak; with its ametuer employees and ride down time. You cant say that lol, most of the people on my crew that are new, arent used to the G.P. and dont really know what to say, plus they are new to the work scene all together. Just give them a few weeks and we'll see! I know i was exactly like that when i started, ill talk to anyone now it doesnt bother me. I will make stuff up just to guest relate:D as for you Snapper, you have to come back to K.I. and as a trainer High fives and hats all around YAAAY
Reclaimer
While on the clock they run around, ride rides in uniform, SMOKE! i tried to tell a couple kids from games not to smoke out in public, i got the finger I see some short staffing in the near future when 90% of the new staff is fired lol Was at the park yesterday and experienced just that... Three uniformed employees hopped on recaR, in seats that other people were in line for...when there were pleanty of other seats with paying customers not in line. Granted, it is kind of fun to ride with the employees. Part of me says it looks bad, part of me says the public may like it. Either way, I'm sure the rules say it's bad...and that's what you've gotta go by.
VortexQueen
I went the three opening days.. it was kinda bad on the 17th but it was opening weekend, it was kinda slow but still, opening weekend, it was kinda early.. things around there were really messed up.. but it happens the first week or so.. PKI or not still... cut them some slack.. About NU.. i could not keep at straight face at all.. pathetic, sad, and surprised i was. the only good things there are Phantom Flyers, Avatar and Fairly Odd Coaster. everything else makes me think PKI went to the dogs... aka six flags. im shocked at the recent choices and one very disappointing one i heard that hasnt really been decided yet.. it may just be a rumor but.. it stunk to hear.
