April 27, 200620 yr The deal is still expected, and will probably be announced in the second half of this year: http://money.cnn.com/2006/04/26/news/companies/cbs.reut/
April 27, 200620 yr Author Yep. I find it interesting we have had several people here claim they know who the buyer is...but in the article it is said that CBS's Chief Financial Officer will know more about the sale prospects in "six to eight weeks."
April 27, 200620 yr Yep. I find it interesting we have had several people here claim they know who the buyer is...but in the article it is said that CBS's Chief Financial Officer will know more about the sale prospects in "six to eight weeks." Well, you know the CFO is always the last to know. <G>
April 27, 200620 yr Well I`m sure that CBS has been in talks with several companies. What the CFO is talking about is that they will probably weed out the non serious bidders and come up with two or three bidders that are truely interested in the parks. Will we find out then who is interested in the parks? I doubt it. We likely won`t hear anything about who is interested in buying the parks until a sale is completed. (My 3,000th post!)
April 27, 200620 yr Author I agree completely. My point is we have had several people here claim they already know who the buyer is. That is not only bloody unlikely, it borders on preposterous. And congrats on your 3k!
April 27, 200620 yr Thanks! And I agree that in all likelihood, nobody other than a few select people at CBS and the interested parties know about possible talks to buy Paramount Parks. I would imagine that Al Weber, the CEO and president of Paramount Parks, is one of the few (if not the only one) people in all of Paramount Parks that knows the status of the sale talks. And even then, CBS might not be telling him everything about the sale.
April 27, 200620 yr One thing I do know for a fact is that there are "interested parties" currently looking over each of the Parks, and no deal the final buyer obviously has not been decided.
April 27, 200620 yr way, 6-8 weeks, that would put it just about the end of June... which is what I had been saying from the beginning. Oh well. I need to say this, I know there are a few out there who are trying to get rid of Paramount, or want them to go... Well, it's going down right now... Let's hope we are left in good hands when it's time to move on.
April 27, 200620 yr I suspect it is an investment company. We'll have to wait and see. Have a great day! Italian Chef
April 27, 200620 yr I agree with you chef... I mean, it still could be Cedar Fair, or Busch, but I think, in the end, it will be private investors overall.
April 27, 200620 yr I heard it's that "Couch's Campers" guy that bought Americana. He's going to doze over the new resort and restore the campgrounds, put a mini ferris wheel by the sign, and line the front of the parking lot with campers.... that could just be heresay though

He'd operate the park into a depression over the course of two months and then let it sit vacant, waiting to die. He, of course, would make a killing selling his RVs out of his "newly expanded Mason location".
