Actually, I`ve warned that guy before about spelling mistakes and grammar in his posts. Look like he still hasn`t learned the lesson from his temporary ban...

Whoa....you can ban people for having bad grammar and spelling?

Yep, all outlined in the Terms of Service.

^ ohmy.gif what if its a 8 year old? and he doesn't know how to spell correctly?

According to the FCC, you must be of 13 years of age in order to join any forum on the internet. That's not our rule, that's the federal law. By the age of 13, if you can't construct complete sentences and use proper punctuation then you should be allowed on PKIC, at PKI, or in public in general. The only exception of course being if you had some sort of disability, but 99.999% of the time it's just laziness and a total disregard for the people in the community trying to read your lack of English.

Um,  Klockster used to be on The Vortex crew, so I`m sure he knows what he is talking about.  Besides, why should someone trust a post like yours which is full of grammar and spelling errors?

Exactly. Well said.

Vortex wheels spin at a very high RPM - which causes them to heat up. This can cause the nylon to melt off of the wheel. To prevent this, the wheel axles are lubricated by oil - held in an oil cap. The oil caps are just kind of stuck on. If they do come off, the wheel can overheat, and the nylon can fall off. This causes the ride to run really roughly - and to make a terrible sound as it rolls. The sound is very clearly audible - and they know to shut the ride down and fix the problem as soon as it arises. It does not happen frequently though, because they check the wheels and oil caps every night.

To answer coasterking123456 - yeah I know how Vortex works - alot better than you ever will... wink.gif

Well if you don`t work at the park, chances are you did not know the exact reason for why the ride was down due to mechanical reasons. While they may have had a train on the transfer track and were taking some wheels off does not mean that a wheel fell off or prevented the train from moving. If you don`t know something with any certainty, do not act like you know it with certainty.

Demon getting stuck could be caused by any number of reasons - including bad design. If a wheel fell off - or an axle broke - it could have caused it. I am just saying that the nylon peeling off of one wheel on Vortex should not cause Vortex to hang.

Are you one of the forum administrators? Theres no reason to close the topic....

Just a quick reveiw of what we dicsussed:

-coasterking123456 has no idea what he is talking about

-Klockster is the sole authority on Vortex

-Nylon can peel of the wheel but not stop the train

Klockster, one day at the park you and I were discussing how some of the newer (or more recently built than Vortex) Arrow mega loopers like Viper at SFMM have the same wheels as the Arrow suspended coasters which are larger but seem to create a smoother ride. Does The Vortex use those same wheels, from what I saw last night it appears that the fenders have been replaced and are new and that there are larger wheels on it, however I breifly saw it.

Coasterking123456, as CombatStupendous said, you don`t have the right to decide when to close a topic. Topics will be closed only when the moderators deem it necessary.

CombatStupendous, while The Vortex may have new fenders, I would imagine that it is still using the same size running wheels it always has. Switching to the much larger suspended running wheels would not only cause new fenders to be installed, but it would increase the distance between cars because of the larger diameter of the wheels.

If it got the new wheels - it would have new axles - and NO finders. I haven't been up for a few days - but I highly doubt such a change would happen over night. Another advantage of the bigger wheels is that they don't rotate as fast - they can have the same rotational velocity with a smaller RPM. Thus they don't overheat as quickly.
