The Interpreter
In the public relations business, all press releases end with a slug line, which describes the business/company that is doing the release. This release from Wonderland today includes the slug line as revised since the closing: http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive...6/14/c7111.html For more information visit www.canadaswonderland.com. Paramount Canada's Wonderland. The Best of Hollywood Entertainment - Now Playing! Paramount Canada's Wonderland is owned and operated by Cedar Fair, L.P. Cedar Fair, L.P. (NYSE: "FUN") is a publicly traded partnership headquartered in Sandusky, Ohio. The Partnership, which owns and operates twelve amusement parks, five outdoor water parks, one indoor water park and six hotels, is one of the largest regional amusement park operators in the world. Its parks are located in Ohio, California, Toronto, North Carolina, Virginia / District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Missouri and Michigan. Cedar Fair's flagship park, Cedar Point, has been voted the "Best Amusement Park in the World" for eight consecutive years in a prestigious annual poll conducted by Amusement Today newspaper. There's a lot of messages in that slug line, for those who can read between the lines.
CoasterXtreme
Sounds pretty good! I am excited for the 2007 season at KI for the first time since FOF was announced.

CoastersNSich
Intresting they dont have South Carolina since half of carowinds is in SC. Also Toronto? all the others are listed as states, so it should read ontario. Finnaly, what do they own in DC? They're probably marketing Kings Dominion as being in the Virgina/DC area - many of their guests come from the DC metropolitan area, including fromMaryland. Toronto, to many, is more recognizable and to the point than Ontario.
Reclaimer
Thanks for posting the press release. I was excited to read a new release with all of the parks in the slug line. Since we are talking about releases, I decided to get on the Canada's Wonderland press page just now and read the May 22 release regarding the sale to Cedar Fair. I found the first couple lines highly entertaining...almost, bitter. "We are excited that the Paramount theme parks will now be part of a company whose primary strategic focus is on the theme park/entertainment business." source: http://www3.paramountparks.com/CanadasWond...cfm?item_id=
The Interpreter
Interestingly, only ONE park appears in the slug line. States where the parks are located in the US, the District of Columbia and the city of Toronto are listed. But NO park name other than one.... The Interpreter
whats it mean that CF buy Paramont parks next year it will still be Paramont Stay tuned. It may be. It may not be. In any event, CBS no longer owns the parks. Cedar Fair does. Things will change, even if they intend them to stay the same (which I don't think they do). And read on! PKIVortex
That's interesting. Paramount Canada's Wonderland a Cedar Fair LP Park. But i'm sure all the rest of the press releases this year will follow suit. When PKI releases the Fear Fest Press Release it will say. Paramount's Kings Island A Cedar Fair LP Park. The Interpreter
Yep. And just look at that. Just like BPAmoco didn't stay BPAmoco and ChevronTexaco didn't stay ChevronTexaco, I doubt that Paramount's Kings Island, a Cedar Fair LP Park stays Paramount's Kings Island, a Cedar Fair LP Park. Nor do I think "The Best of Hollywood Entertainment--Now Playing" is long for this world, either.
PKIVortex
I agree. Kings Island a Cedar Fair LP Park, sounds better then Paramount's Kings Island a Cedar Fair LP Park. I think this will be the last year of the parks having the Paramount slapped on their names.
TheKlockster
I just wonder why they don't list the parks anymore - just the park's markets.
The Interpreter
Gee...perhaps because: ( a ) there are so many of them now, and ( b ) they want to avoid the entire issue of what the parks' names are for this season! You will note they just couldn't resist naming the flagship park, even in a press release for a park known as Canada's Wonderland...

You will note they just couldn't resist naming the flagship park, even in a press release for a park known as Canada's Wonderland... Lets hear it for Cedar Point. I really believe that Cedar Fair is going to need to understand that they now have several major parks in their chain and this kind of 'going out of their way' treatment for Cedar Point will get old for the fans of these other larger parks. They need to grow up along with the corporation.
Reclaimer
Looks like they updated it a little. This is from the page that their Q2 conference call will be at: "Cedar Fair, L.P. (NYSE: “FUNâ€Â) is a publicly traded partnership headquartered in Sandusky, Ohio. The Partnership, which owns and operates twelve amusement parks, five outdoor water parks, one indoor water park and six hotels, is one of the largest regional amusement park operators in the world. Its parks are located in Ohio, California, North Carolina, Virginia / District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Missouri, Michigan, and Toronto, Ontario. Cedar Fair also owns and operates Star Trek: The Experience, an interactive adventure located in Las Vegas, and operates the Bonfante Gardens in Gilroy, California under a management contract. Cedar Fair’s flagship park, Cedar Point, has been voted the “Best Amusement Park in the World†for eight consecutive years in a prestigious annual poll conducted by Amusement Today newspaper. shadow2k3
Odd, I didn't know ST:TE and Bonfante gardens was part of the deal. ~S~
SOB_TOM
ST:TE has always been listed as a Paramount "park." But personally I like the term "little brother to Paramount Parks."
coasterville
Maybe I am reading too much between the lines, but I was taking a look at the order of the States. The States are not listed in alphabetical order, and I was taught many years ago that you don't list things in random order. So I tried to figure out a logical order for the States. I thought it may be order of acquisition by Cedar Fair, but then Michigan would not be at the end of the list. Then I thought of maybe they are alpha by park name, but no that doesn't quite work either. Would it be going too far off the deep end to suggest that the parks are listed by order of importance to Cedar Fair. I.e. Cedar Point is their flagship park so Ohio is listed first, and possbly they don't care as much for Michigan's Adventure, Worlds of Fun or Valleyfair so they fall to the bottom of the list. Then it came to me, I noticed that since Cedar Point got its own direct mention, it seems that they listed the locations of States that contain a Paramount Park before they listed the States that only have a "Cedar Fair" park. Again could indicate just how highly they regard the Paramount Parks, or it could be nothing other than they took a stock paragraph out of a Paramount Canada's Wonderland PR template and added their parks on to the bottom of it... CoastersRZ
The thing I find interesting with the Cedar Fair site is that while the map on the main page has been updated, they still have yet to update the Cedar Fair Properties page. That page is still pre-Paramount Parks. Which might be because the fact that they haven`t developed new logos without the Paramount moniker, assuming that they will be dropping them next season. KIBeast
Why is it wrong for them to mention that Cedar Point is their flagship park? It's not like that is news or anything. After every park that has been acquired by Cedar Fair it is still mentioned that Cedar Point is the flagship park. Why would they change that now? Yeah, I know that PKI and PCW both had bigger numbers than CP, but that doesn't mean that one of them now becomes the flagship park. Honestly, did you really think that would change? You can hope that they might start acting like a company with serveral major parks instead of a company with one major park and a bunch of little parks. I still say that this attitude will back fire on them over time.
