KDogg
I wasn't sure where to put this topic but it seems to fit in here since we're talking about renaming rides and all that. Anyway, my question is what is Cedar Fair going to do with the static displays relating to Paramount? It's been a couple of years since I've been to KI but if I remember correctly I recall seeing a Knight Rider car and a Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures vehicle. Being static displays I doubt they're even operational (although they could be, I've never looked under the hoods lol). If they're going to scrap such displays I wouldn't mind having that KITT car and I'd be more than happy to come and get it...
Gordon Bombay
^At one point they had a merth-mobile from the Wayne's World movies and then it dissapeared and I saw it later that year at Paramount's Carowinds. They never had a Knight Rider car but did have a classical looking Model - T that can now be seen from the Eifel Tower sitting in a backstage lot close to Boomerang Bay where it has been seen for 2 years now. The only thing really in the Paramount story is some fake miniature submarine models from the hunt for red october, a star trek ship, the chariot from cleopatra, and some random stuff here and there. KDogg
If I remember correctly, KITT wasn't far from the Wayne's World machine. When was that one removed from the park? I was there in either late 03 or 04 and I recall looking at KITT and, being a Knight Rider fan, being disappointed in its appearance. It's possible it was removed prior to the MerthMobile, and quite conceivable given its appearance. If it's just sitting in a back lot somewhere I'll come and get it... The Interpreter
I would bet money that the contract for sale of the parks provides that Paramount props that are no longer used in the parks are to be returned to CBS and/or Viacom.
s10ryan
as of the end of last year the merth mobile is sitting in one of the barns at the park. im assuming its still there. after talking to someone in public relations they had plans to sell it and have had not sold it yet. they had just sold the car from godfather i think when i talked to them. CoastersRZ
And why were you talking to someone in GR about that? Not to mention I don`t know how many of them would have knowledge of those types of decisions, or be able to comment on them to the general public. Captain Picard
These things all have to do with who you know. I have been to sales at Disney and Seaworld when they sell this kind of stuff and the average Joe don't have access to most of it.
s10ryan
yeah...they auction them off
The Interpreter
Yeah, "they" did. But now, the question is did Cedar Fair get ownership of Paramount props in the park? Maybe yes, maybe no.
Vortex
I think alot of the Paramount props are reproductions. I don't think KITT car was at Kings Island. Also the Subs have been gone for 3 years.
CoastersRZ
Well, I`m fairly certain that several items in TR:TR are actual props that were used in the original movie.
The Interpreter
...and I thought they were on LOAN from Paramount Pictures. . .and not owned by Viacom corporate or by CBS...so how could Cedar Fair now own them?
KDogg
"THE" KITT wasn't at Kings Island, but it was a mock-up car complete with the dash, steering wheel, etc. that was set up so people could sit in it. The last time I seen the car there it had some of that diamond plating in the floorboard.
PKIPoodle
wow.....its so weird that i dont remember any other cars but the black older car....and its not the Godfather i dont think. its "The Untouchables". never heard that KITT was there, but my friends tell me that the mirth mobile was there, guess i didnt go to PS that much when it was there. i hope they dont get rid of them..at least not immediately. all i can think of thats there is the model of the Enterprise, the chariot from Cleopatra, i think there's another chariot from The Ten Commandments, an example of a gravestone from the Addams Family, the idol from Indiana Jones, the cage from The Golden Child, and one i just found this year (even though i knew it was there, i didnt know it was this)...the bus stop bench from Forrest Gump (if you're looking at the big waterfall from the fence, its right behind you with a small plaque to the right) i think thats all of em in Paramount Story...but as always, i feel like im missing one, maybe on the left as you walk in the big gates
scotty
i dont see how KITT could be at KI considering KI is CBS/Paramount, and Knight Rider was on NBC and rights are owned by Universal. http://www.knightriderdvd.com/ last line on page reads "©2006 Universal Studios"
