becca011906
Hi all we are highly anticipating our trip (kids first trip) to PKI, you'll have been very helpful with my other questions and as the day gets closer we keep thinking of more questions!!! We aren't going to be able to leave my home till about 8:30 in the moring the day we leave so will miss arriving early that day to the park but we will be able to save some $$ by eating at home in the morning anyways, also though we could hit a drive through mcdonnals or BK before the park that day, then eat dinner in the park and then lunch the next day, how is the food at the park how well is it priced??? We have been to disney world many times who does prices and quality compair, disney is kinda pricey but the quality is very good... We are a family of 5 me, dh and kids ages 6,4, almost 2. Thanks so much!!! Also can the kids wear water shoes at the water park???
Pkirocker77
I personally think that the food there is good for an amusement park. It's not as good as Disney or Busch Gardens, but still good. I don't know much about prices, because my group and I always eat at Happy Days Diner. You can get a LARGE burger or a 1/2 pound hot dog for 7-8$. Water shoes are premitted in the regular park, and I'm assuming Boomerang Bay, but I'm not the person to ask about Boomerang Bay stuff. StXsteven
Roughly 2 pieces of pizza are $5.. (its really like $4.75 or something but you get the point) a whole pizza is roughly $18.. chichen tenders are like $6.50. Sorry I'm not exact, but I'm pretty sure I'm really close. Hope that helps. Avatar
Alot of guest complain of the HIGH food prices at KI alot of people may not answer your question infear they'll be precived as being negative. some prices that I remember are $3.50 Hot dog $3.29 Soft Drinks $3.50 Bottled water $5.99 Sub sandwich from Subway (with less meat) $8.99 Shrimp basket $6.99 Fruit bowl That's the best I can remember for now, We stoped eating the small slice over priced skimpy topping pizza. Were from out of town also if you would like to PM me I'll give you some dinning tips that we like. Also it makes a differance if your there for one or more days. If your there for just one day and getting in late, Then plan on eating before you get to KI and add just a little extra for your food budget. King Bowser
Dont go to Stunt Action Grill they are overpriced I paid 13 bucks for a beacon cheese burger and some chessey fries. I think the food at PKI is overpriced but hey its an amusement park. I always stop at Wendys,Taco Bell or Burger King before and after my visit. The Interpreter
I see Cedar Fair lowering food prices at Kings Island. When? I don't know. I also see the food improving under Cedar Fair.

normal
We always pack a cooler of food and leave it out by the picnic tables by the main entramce. So far we have never had any problems with anything being taken from it.If you don't feel comfortable doing that you can always leave it in the car and go back out for it. becca011906
thanks for the replies that i got, i guess we will eat in the park for dinner the first night, then back to the room, have snacks for that, then free breakfast at the hotel (hampton Inn) then lunch at the park and most likely dinner that night too, unless we've done all we want to do and the kids are getting tired and ready to go home then we will leave and start our drive back home and eat on the way... I was thinking $150 for food and small sovenirs (sp?) for the kids, we have gas paid for (gift cards), and the hotel is paid for, i'm printing ticks off line tomorrow... is there anything eles we are missing ???? Gordon Bombay
I havent eaten at the park in years, unless it was a candy bar, everytime I've gone I've just eaten before I got there, left the park and ewaten someplace local, or went out with the people I visited with afterwards. However, on July 4th weekend while helping Ryan and Bill film nights of fire I decided to eat with them at the park. I paid 13 bucks for a bacon cheeseburger, medium dirnk, and fries at Happy Day's Diner. The food was REALLY good, worth 13 bucks? Hell no, but defienently really good, the food may be over priced but if your willing to splurge KI does have some great food. Especially Potato Works, as much as I like them I never feel like paying for them so I just pass on buying them while visiting.
LongLiveTheSmurfRide
My advice is to forget about eating at the park and head just down the road for some McDonnalds. They've got their value meals, $1 choices, kids meals, and unlimited drink refills. You'll get a ticket to get back in the parking lot without having to pay again, and you'll have your hand stamped, so no biggie there. It really makes a big difference in how much you spend on your trip by doing that compared to paying for in-park food and drinks.
The Interpreter
....or spend the same amount of money (or less) you would in the park but go somewhere quiet and nice and get out of the park for just a bit. . .You can splurge quite a bit outside the park and get far more and spend less. Heck, for what it costs to go to Stuntman's, you could even go to Outback Steak House and have a nice meal, especially at lunch. And the time spent may not even be significantly more if you choose to eat during peak times (which, if time is a factor, you really shouldn't--eat an hour or so before or after the times most people do--the waits are much less anywhere--inside or outside the park). KIfan73
I ate at Bubba Gumps my last visit. That was the first time I had eaten there. I got a really good, BIG chicken club sandwich, almost more fries that I could eat and cole slaw for around $8. I didn't think that was bad. I would have paid more for that at a restaurant. Of course, I asked for a cup of ice water
The Interpreter
...with a soda, that meal would have been around $12. Most people don't ask for ice water....and if you do, be careful that they give you the free water and not sell you a $3 (or more) bottle of water. Unless the latter is what you wanted. One other thing. I know there are times we all want to save money and sometimes don't just want but need to save money. That being said, higher than normal food prices is one of the ways parks pay for rides, employees and profit. I do, however, think CBS greatly overdid it with food pricing this year. In a year when Cedar Point cut many, many of its food prices (and its admission price), CBS raised food (and merchandise) prices throughout the park, some of them drastically. I would think that Cedar Fair could make more money by charging a bit less for food. I know a lot of people who currently leave the park for food might stay if the prices were more reasonable and not quite so stunning. Something is drastically wrong when you can eat for much less at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey , than you can at Paramount's Kings Island in Mason, Ohio. At any park, you must watch carefully though. At Great Advenuture, for example, if you go to Carnegie Deli in the park the typical sandwich is $15, yet you can get excellent ribs behind Nitro for less than $9! Or at any Papa John's at any Six Flags park they have the nerve to charge a typical $7 for a small slice of pan pizza! But the cheese bread, which is nearly the same thing without the tomato sauce is usually less than three dollars!
WooferBearATL
In most parks it's just a matter of knowing where to go for the best deals. Unfortunately, if you have not worked at a park or are not "skilled" with manuvering parks, you may not know how to do this.
deidre1976
Get a whole pizza at the Festhaus, thats what my family does, those pizzas are huge. Also ask for ice water, its free! I wouldn't get the (free) water if you are not from this area.......get bottled drinks without ice or you may spend most of your trip in the bathroom. coasterville
Another food price point for you: Wing's Diner Montgomery Inn Ribs (served with two sides and a dinner roll) 1/4 slab - $12 1/2 slab - $17 Full Slab - $22 Pulled Pork Sandwhich (w/ cole slaw and 1 side, dinner roll) $9 Their other basket meals are about in the $9 range and include fried chicken (3 pieces). Hmm, perhaps with team work we could create what AllEars does for DisneyWorld - a Menu's webpage with all the menus (with prices) for that entire resort. PKIVortex
The water at PKI comes right out of the Coke Machines. I beleive it's filtered as well. The water at PKI tastes pretty good. Now the drinking fountains are another story LOL.
becca011906
Coasterville now there is an idea, but with it just being bought by another park, i think it might be a waste of time since ceader fair might be changing the prices and so on... The Interpreter
Prices change often. This is something that should be worked on. What? Documenting the prices or changing them? I, for one, hope Cedar Fair changes them. I see them going one way....down. And those Montgomery Inn prices are nowhere near as reasonable as they might seem...they do NOT include a beverage, nor are the "Montgomery Inn" ribs the same as those served in their fine eateries at the Boathouse by Coney or in Montgomery. Not even the meat is the same, in my humble opinion.

peterderkonig
If you have 2 days, go ahead and leave the park to eat. The prices are better, quality is better, and, with kids, you'll appreciate the break from walking and standing. Be warned - the subway and montgomery inn inside the park are nothing like real Subway or Montgomery Inn - they're expensive and lower quality. In terms of time, I have been to the park and been able to ride everything major in 4-5 hours. It all depends on the day you go, but you will be able to get to everything over 2 days, even with leaving to eat. With the water in the park, it is out of the Coke machines, so it's the same as dasani without the salts added to the Dasani (Dasani, Aquafina, Deja BLue are all just filtered tap water with some mineral salts added to get that crisp taste)
The Interpreter
Uh, all those waters are very low sodium...they do NOT add any significant amount of salt to them. That'd start a medical controversy (and litigation) to end all medical controversies if they did that! From Dasani's website: WHY DOES DASANI’S NUTRITION FACT PANEL LIST SODIUM AND 0g? THE PURIFICATION PROCESS USED TO MAKE DASANI REMOVES VIRTUALLY ALL MINERALS AND IMPURITIES FROM THE WATER. BUT IN TASTE TESTS, PEOPLE PREFERRED DASANI WHEN EXTREMELY SMALL AMOUNTS OF MINERALS WERE ADDED. HOW SMALL? SO SMALL THAT THE FDA CONSIDERS THEM ALL, INCLUDING THE SODIUM, TO BE NUTRITIONALLY INSIGNIFICANT. So the minerals added are more marketing than anything else.
