CoastersRZ
I do believe that the first couple of years, they were open during the week up to and including Halloween night. But then they stopped doing that. Also, when they made FearFest free for pass holders in 2003, I believe that they had the haunts open the first weekend that the park was open in November as well! hauntguy
I think KI should operate Fearfest on every Wed, Thur, Fri, and Sat. night! Leave Sunday for Nick-or-Treat... and stay closed on Mondays-Tuesdays. This would bring a TON more revenue into the park. But I don't know why KI only operates on weekends so I can't really say anything. -Hauntguy
The Interpreter
Staffing would be a HUGE problem, to start with.
hauntguy
Staffing? Then shouldn't staffing be a problem now? I know it can work... other parks do it! Just have too "troubleshoot" and find a way! -Hauntguy
RingMaster
The reason for them being open on only weekends is due to them hiring minors (16 and 17-year-olds), who can't work past a certain hour on school nights, usually midnight. And due to what I had to go through when working in Curse of the Crypt in '04, it's almost certain that a majority of people won't get off work until 1 or 2 in the morning. All they would need to do is raise the age to 18 years of age and then they'll be able to open up during the week.
The Interpreter
Don't you think that if the park could have attracted enough people over 18 to work those hours at the wages it pays, it would already have required applicants to be 18? Just raising the age limit to 18 isn't going to magically produce workers it can't get enough of now without that limit.
Guest TombraiderTy
somepeople where asking earlier how creature was fear fest, well it would have several tunnels with props inside of them, the train would completely stop at the brakes before the loop where several actors and props would be, and several large props would surround the track. Plus strobe lights and fog, that would look cool.
TOPGUN1993
http://www1.paramountparks.com/kingsisland...ping_events.cfm Does this mean the Circus haunted house is coming back this year ?
RailRider
What would I like to see at this years FearFest? How about some of the great props from ScarFactory. Including one of their giant pneumatic props. Heres a link to their website. ScareFactory Also here is a link to the Show. Starting at the 2 minute mark are the ScareFactory props including the amazing Impaler pneumatic prop holding a thrasher corpse, the Impaler is at the 2:20 mark. Love ScareFactory props and KI honestly needs to invest in some of these amazing scare makers.
hauntguy
Scarefactory has HORRIBLE customer service and there animations... Well, although they look cool they break easily and are un-reliable. Not suitable for a theme park! I would say go with Distortions or Unit 70 props/animations. -Hauntguy
RailRider
Really? Did not know that about them. Only know from what I have seen in haunts and shows that had their props on display. Makes sense as to why you dont see many of them. Thanks for the info. Ok well how about a generalization then, I think FearFest needs more props that do more than just sit there. Im talking Jumpers and Thrashers, gets kinda old just seeing bloddy torso after bloddy torso. They need props that offer startle factor, given Maze of Maddness usual has a few good ones. I am also a big fan of the ExMortis StalkArounds. I think those offer a great visual and startle when they roam the midways and also when one is sitting down and then raises up. You think its a static prop and surprise its alive at 8 feet tall.
