PKIVortex
Well on Saturday June 5th I made my 3rd trip to PKI so far this year. The park wasn't as busy as I thought it would be for a Saturday. I made it to the park around 3pm and only stayed to about 7pm. But it was a fun 4 hours. I didn't even bother to go into Action Zone, as it was probably really busy over there. My friend who I went with had to get his season pass processed and while we were waiting outside for them to bring his pass out to him, we heard this loud thump, well I looked up and Face/Off was stuck on the first lift. Finally after we got into the park, and around to the Paramount Theater, they were pulling them down slowey. Our first ride of the day was Adventure Express, wait was only in the station, same ol ride. Racer was next, almost a walk on, they were actually racing today, way to go PKI. After The Racer, we went and checked out Days Of Thunder in Action Theater. No one is riding Days of Thunder, they were a line for Sponge Bob. Do people not realize Days of Thunder is open, or does people just not want to ride? But anyway Days of Thunder brought back alot of memories, I enjoyed it quite a bit. We then went and had some blue ice cream in HB land, and then went to ride the Train to check out BB. They did a really good job with BB, but I feel they could have done more to improve the older side of the waterpark. Not much in opinion was done on that side. We decided after we walked around BB awhile to take the walk back to the main park. After that we went and had Pizza at the Rivertown Pizza. Then it was off to The Beast. My friend doesn't have a gold pass, he didn't buy his in time, so we could not take advantage of the walk on ride, so we had to wait in line. Line was probably 45 mins. The Beast was running really good today. After Beast we headed on over to Vortex for our last ride of the evening. We had a funnel cake and an Icee on the way out. Other then that we enjoyed our stay at the park today. I'm glad it wasn't too busy, as I was afraid it could have been being a Saturday. We are probably going to go during the week here soon and enjoy the water attractions at BB.
Browntggrr
After swearing at myself for about 4 hours because I did not check PKI's calender, and finding out that they were going to be closed on Sunday, I tried to make the most of Sat. night. We arrived at PKI @ 7:00pm. When we arrived at the parking lot, I was very nervous at the line going into the lot. There were a lot of people there! Then we found out that there was a concert @ 8:00pm and was relieved. I went with 5 people (wife, mom, dad, and 2 little cousins- their first PKI experience). I first went to customer service and explained the situation that we bought 4 tix for 6/6, not realizing that PKI was closed to the general public, and that we are from Erie, PA. Well that was the best CS experience that I have ever had at PKI. They let us use our tix (we paid $20 for all-day passes), and we paid for the 2 kids. PKI gave us 6 passes for sometime later this year. It was my mistake, and they gave me 6 free passes, which has encouraged us to make sure that we go back sometime this year. The 2 kids are only 52" and 51" so there were some rides that they could not go on, and they were a little nervous about the coasters, so I started them slow and went to AE. They thought that was boring so we went to Racer, which they considered better, but not fast enough. We skipped FoF (hour wait), and went to Vortex. One of the boys does not like "flippy rides" as he put it and did not ride, but his brother did- and loved it. We took a small break and went to DoT and they loved that, then went to The Beast- at night- great ride, but the trims do take away from what the ride once was like. The boys loved it, and I heard the best comment, one that should be in a commercial, "No wonder it was such a long wait" (only 30 min). The boys mother watched them as we went to TR;TR and the very last ride on Delirium. Not too bad for about 3 hours of being in the park. There were a couple things that I did not like: the walk on thing- great idea for season pass holders, but on Sat and Sun.? Those are the busiest days for the park because many people can't get off work during the week, so they are forced to go on the weekend, and the park makes them wait even longer. I would think that since the park is going to be busy anyway, don't put promos on the weekend, use them during the week, to draw more people, when you know it will be slower. It did not seem like there were enough employees working. The south lot entrance was the only one open. There were only 3 metal detectors operating. (with a concert at 8pm, I would think that both of these issues would be different) On TR;TR there were only 2 people checking the restraints. At least a 3rd would improve the timing of the ride. Vortex, Racer and AE, had no employee at the entrance to the queue line checking for heights, line jumpers, smokers etc. Overall it was a great time for 3-4 hours, and i can't wait to get back later this year. AZ Kinda Guy
Vortex, Racer and AE, had no employee at the entrance to the queue line checking for heights, line jumpers, smokers etc. Overall it was a great time for 3-4 hours, and i can't wait to get back later this year. That's because those staff positions have long since been eliminated for quite some time. Glad you had a good time!
