New commerical

I don't know if they're showing the commercial in the Cincy area, but there's a new PKI commercial in the Indy market.

It's still mentioning the park as Paramount's Kings Island, but that is to be expected. The main thing that caught my eye is that it does have a different 'feel' to it. I can't really place it, but you can kind of see a difference between this ad and a Viacom/CBS ad for the park. (Or maybe I'm just crazy!)

And the Paramount's portion of the park logo is visibly shrinking ever so slightly on the billboards I have seen. . .

It's kinda like when ya have a wart or an ugly boil kinda thing.

You can either lance em and cut em off or ya can put that medication on it to slowly remove the uglyness.

I think CF has choosen to just put the medication on it until all the Paramount is removed! <G>

Put another way, it's more like Maureen had input as opposed to Jeff.

So how much is CF and how much is Jeff being gone is also a factor.

Earlier and elsewhere on this board, it was said that Craig Ross is now VP of marketing. That may also be a factor.

I can't imagine that ads are done on a local basis.

It would very much make more sense to do them on a National basis and just change the names of the parks on each add.

To some extent, yes. Paramount, in particular, was known for using generic ads for its parks. You could see Thunder Road masquerading as The Racer in their ads.

But I have NEVER seen a generic ad for Dorney Park or for Cedar Point. Nor for Geauga Lake. Cedar Fair is not Paramount Parks.

KECO and Taft used to do that as well!

You could often see International Street at Kings Dominion in most of the adds.

In Six Flags Ads ya see a variety of coasters with no name description.

Sure they do, but it is rare and done only where appropriate.

The fact that when they do do so, it is a topic of discussion on Point Buzz shows how unique it is. In any event, at least prior to this acquisition, Cedar Fair marketing was among the best in the business (perhaps to make up for their admissions/season pass processing departments, which were among the very worst). Hopefully, the marketing will stay as great as it has been.

Compare CF's Ads to Busch Parks Ads and they don't hold a candle.

I didn't say the best...I said among the best....

Holiday World and Indiana Beach also have great marketing. . .

Going through the Busch Park web sites I'm just becoming more and more convinced that they're really just in a class of their own, though.

Ahhh, I'm happy to see Paramount gone but I so wish Busch would have got at least Kings Island. I still bet they'll buy Wonderland when CF sells it.
