Browntggrr
Amazingly enough Steel Dragon opened back up on Sept. 3rd, after being down for just over 3 years. http://www.rcdb.com/qs.htm?quicksearch=Steel+Dragon+2000 http://www.nagashima-onsen.co.jp/data/d160_1.html It has been closed since Aug. '03 after a wheel came off and hit a women *I believe* in their water park.
flightoffear1996
Thats pretty sweet cause I would hate to see 50 million go to waste!
KIBeast
^It wouldn't go to waste if I had that amount of money! Great to see it up and running again. If a little wheel falling off is enough to close it for three years, I imagine an accident a little greater than that would shut it down for good. TheKlockster
Did they get new trains or what? Steel Dragon looks like a giant Magnum Xl 200. Like it doesn't even look tall. But it is. I would love to ride it.
TheRickster
The trains are probly exactly like phantoms revenge (on the inside anyway they look alot diffrent on the outside) at kennywood. Both are morgan coasters.
The Interpreter
The trains are probly exactly like phantoms revenge (on the inside anyway they look alot diffrent on the outside) at kennywood. Both are morgan coasters. Uh, no. Phantom's Revenge is a mongrel. The coaster was originally built by Arrow, and had/has Arrow trains. The trains were originally equipped with OTSR's, as my head, neck and shoulders can testify. Morgan modified the coaster, originally called Steel Phantom, keeping the lift hill and station track. The trains had the OTSR's removed, and are now very comfortable. Whatever Steel Dragon's trains may be like, they doubtless share almost nothing with Steel Phantom's/Phantom's Revenge's... Perhaps you meant Steel Force at Dorney Park or Wild Thing at Valleyfair or Mamba at Worlds of Fun?
TheRickster
Well I was mainly just talking about the restraints and seats. Not the enitre train.
The Interpreter
The restraints and seats on Phantom's Revenge are very unlike those on the other Morgans. They are among the most comfortable of any steel coaster. I can't imagine they would meet USA accessibility standards, though; if they were proposed for a new train/coaster. Of course those particular standards do not apply in Japan, but others may.
Jasper
it is good to see it open back up. The most comfortable seat i have ever sit in is Apollo's Chariot at Busch Gardens. B&M sure do know how to make you comfortable.
CoasterFreak273
Apollo's Chariot is very comfortable! It makes your ride just so much more enjoyable! I also love how open they are. I also have to say that Millennium Force is comfortable and very open as well. It just adds to your thrill seeking experieance! Glad to see it up and running. I would love to take a trip to Nagashima sometime! It sounds like a Japanese equilivant of Cedar Point. So it's back to being the longest coaster in the world!
