vortexdemon05
As anyone may have noticed that The Vortex Floor is smooth and slippery when wet. The wood has been there since The Bat days. Saturday I was working at Vortex when i slipped on the Floor I was sent home that day early. But the reason for this topic is should The Vortex floor be replaced or have added grip like Grip tape or something? If you were wondering how I’m feeling I’m doing fine, just a little sore. Snake Attack!
Wait so they sent you home cause you fell? How hard did you fall oh and did you get to ride that cool little ambulance thingy? Well good that you are ok, maybe they should redo that but how often does the wood in there get wet, it is under a big shelter.
vortexdemon05
Well I did hit it real hard. and yes i got to ride that cool little ambulance thingy. that floor always gets wet when it rains and it gets wet in the middle from the rain over top the walkway, plus it also gets wet from peoples shoes. RailRider
I have noticed how slippery it is. Especially coming down the stairs in to the ride station. Yeah painted wood is never real good for traction. Surprised that nothing has been done about it, because Im sure your not the first to fall and probably wont be the last. Glad your ok
KIBeast
Good to hear that you are ok. I have not been there on a rainy day in years. But, if it is like you said, they may need to address that issue.
hausty1983
Yeah thats a safety hazard big time i'm shocked that nothing has been done about it,its always slippery when its wet. I can't believe OSHA didn't hit them with a fine or the park didn't do something about that.
WooferBearATL
Well, remember that if you have to go to the doctor that it falls under Workers Comp. Years ago we used to use old pickle buckets to fill ice bins. One of my coworkers were trying to pull two buckets apart one day and my feet went out from under me. I hit my head against the wall and was out for a few seconds. I came to on one of the little meat carts taking me to First Aide. Thousands of people just gawking at ya in a golf cart ambulance! That remains to this day one of my most embarassing moments.

teenageninja
I can attest that the floor on Vortex does get very slippery, I fell in the gap between the train and the station one day on a wet day, I stayed though just went up to the drive box a lot. Feel better Chris.

TheKlockster
I can attest that the floor on Vortex does get very slippery, I fell in the gap between the train and the station one day on a wet day, I stayed though just went up to the drive box a lot. Feel better Chris. Hmm... TWICE I have put my foot between the station platform and the train. That hurts BAD and leaves a huge bruise. I tripped over the transfer track early this year - and got a big ol' bruise that even to this day has left a hard-as-a-rock spot on the front of my leg. I was walking tracks one time, and slipped down that hill that runs under Vortex first hill, and rolled all the way down getting scratched up and grass stains all over me. While crossing under FOFs station to go to dual launch, I got poked in the arm by the fence. Oh and the best one ever... While working Monster, these people asked me to spin their pod. I spun it, trying to be a badass, and the pod handle came around and RIPPED MY SHORTS RIGHT OFF!!!!! That was really embarassing - though fortunately I was not the only person that happened to that week.

SOB_TOM
I almost got my foot ran over by the SOB train while yelling at a guest to get off the handrail my first year. You guys just need to pay a little bit more attention. I know, Youre saying Tom, I was checking bars and just slipped. It happens, I know, but stay aware of your surroundings. Pay attention, and you wont get hurt. Thats how I survived being a ride op.
TheKlockster
Oh yeah I know. Its good advice. The times I put my foot through the track was me looking at something else while checking bars and not paying attention. The time I tripped over the transfer track - that was just me being a dumbass... You can't ever let it get routine - and it is very easy to let checking bars become routine. TopThrill
I do belive those boards are slick, when working there and just walking over the bridge and walking throw the turnstyles. Very weird to me.
