Test Seats

Featured Replies

I think that there should be test seats for dropzone and Flight of Fear. I've seen people wait in line and not being able to ride because of their size. Usually on the intamin made rides like dropzone they have test seats for their rides. I think its strange that dropzone doesn't have one. Maybe this is a new idea for Cedar Fair to install test seats at their rides at Kings Island.

Well, if they DO have them, they should have the same size belts as the ones on the train. And the ones on the train should all be the same size. I have seen quite a few people fit the test seat on Millennium Force but then not fit the seat they selected to ride on the train. I have also noticed the belts on Millennium Force (and on Top Thrill Dragster) seem to vary quite a bit.

Few things make guests madder than fitting a test seat, waiting up to two hours (or more) and then not fitting the train. Especially when they are with friends.

Oh I fit on Duhlee just fine - but when I went to ride maXair - I thought I better try the test seat just in case - and the seatbelt just barely buckled. I thought I wasn't going to make it - but I got in line anyway. When I got to the ride, I found out the seat belts are the same size as Duhlee's and I had plenty of slack.

Drop Zone and Flight of Fear both have belts that vary from seat to seat. Some of Drop Zone's seat belts can vary by 2 inches or more. I am pretty big - and I know I can fit in seat 1. All but one of my eight or so rides on Drop Zone have been in seats 1-3.

I do agree though - they need test seats.

The seat belts were actually rerouted on the trains so larger guests could not fit because of an acident involving another Intamin coaster. This is the one thing I still dont agree with Cedar Point doing. One accident that wasnt determined to be because of the restraints, yet they still have not gone back to the original configuration of the seat belts. People that rode Millie when it first opened are not all able to ride it now because of the much smaller belts. I noticed a huge change in Millie when they rerouted the seat belts and that it became a very tight squeeze and in no way am I above average in weight just have the build of a line backer.

Cedar Fair has even added Belts on the outside for Planktons Plunge and it actually made the ride for me and my wife more comfortable and it seems safer as a back up for my 3 yr old son. Now drop zone that sucks there seats!!

They need to work on that one!

Go Cedar Fair you've rocked so far!

I have never rode the SOB, but from what I have heard it is a tight fit and without (Mock Seats ) I don't even bother to get in the line for fear of not fitting and wasting my time. I can ride TRTR and The Racers ect. But my last trip on FOF I had to be stapled in(that was 5 years ago and I have lost some weight) but there is still that fear of not fitting.

I think the seat belts are there for a quick measuerment if someone is too big to ride and not in case the restraint opens.

Exactly! They are a size limiter - not a secondary restraint. It is how they tell the restraint is properly locked.

And Son of Beast's seats have alot of room. They aren't good on tall people - but they have a ton of room for big people - as does IJST.

The technical term is "mock seats."

Says who?

I know the test seats / mock seats whatever you want to call them at Cedar Point refer to them as "Test Seats" on the signage.
