KIBeast Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 ^Something about one of the break fins was heavily damaged causing damage to the train itself. Someone else probably knows all of the details.
Shman Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 One of the brake fins became mis-aligned during a cycle one day and when the train passed through the LIMs the train basically ripped itself and the LIM motors apart resulting in MAJOR damage.

Wow was anyone on it when this happened? I've been looking all over the internet for more information/pictures but can't find anything.
CoastersRZ Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I believe that this occured during morning test runs, and as a result no one was on board the train when the incident occurred. I do believe that all the similar Intamin launched inverted coasters were temporarily shut down after the incident occured.
flightoffear1996 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 That sounds pretty intreresting and it would be nice to learn more about it.
RailRider Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Seeing as how this topic has cooled off I was doing some looking around to see if X-Flight has been or started to be dismantled yet. According to GeaugaLakeToday there has been no site of construction or equipment around X-Flight. They have also taken pictures to show it is still standing. The update is from December 2nd so construction may have started by now, but they speculate that the ride will not start to be dismantled until after the new year, just like with Mr. Hyde. How interesting...
Shman Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Very interesting.....it looks like no matter where it is heading that it would most likely not be ready for opening day at this rate.
Reclaimer Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I did notice they finally removed X-Flight from their Roller Coasters page. It was on there for some time after the speculation and article about the removal.
RailRider Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 With no visable signs of the coaster being dismantled and no visible signs or reports of preperation at either KI or MiA I would assume that assembly of the ride may not happen until after the winter months. So that is basically 2 months till general opperations to have the land ready, coaster constructed, and testing done. Seems like a very tight schedule so maybe the goal is to have it up and running by the busy Summer months.
Reclaimer Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I wonder why they're taking their time on this. I mean, if they've planned on moving it...you'd figure they'd be moving a little quicker.
CoastersRZ Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Well, keep in mind that not all of Kings Island or MiA are visible from the public roads that are around them. I`m fairly certain that whatever park is getting X-Flight next year has already started to prepare to receive this attraction...
RailRider Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Maybe they figure they can have it dismanteld, moved, and installed before the bussiest part of the seasson hits or they plan on it being a 2008 attraction and will be SBNO all next year...
KIBeast Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I'm going with CoastersRZ on this one. Whatever site prep work has or will be done, no one can see it anyway. So, only that park knows whether or not site work has been done or not.

RailRider Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Geesh we need someone with access to an airplane to fly over the park and take pictures to see if site work has begun for XFlight or if the loop on SoB has been removed. Wish we had a PKIC member that could do such things...
Reclaimer Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 There's a certain member of this site that is really highly respected for his work.
Skywriter Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 There's a certain member of this site that is really highly respected for his work. Yeah you bet he is.
CoastersNSich Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Appropriately... X-Flight has finally been removed from the Geauga Lake website.
BoddaH1994 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Appropriately... X-Flight has finally been removed from the Geauga Lake website. Interesting. Looks like it squashes the rumors of other rides being relocated... at least for now.
neo8820 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Why would the loop be removed it wasn't the cause of the accident was it???
Avatar Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hopefully we can take this tread out of the rumors forum and into the Paramount Kings Island forum! Or at least start a new one.
CoastersNSich Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I think we may have an answer... http://photos.pkicentral.com/thumbnails.php?album=177
beastfan11 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I would like to see more of an area 51 theme to x flight.. it would go good by fof.
Vortexlover2 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I would like to see more of an area 51 theme to x flight.. it would go good by fof. I actually wanted them to make a new section of thae park back there, and area 51 would be a great name for it. They could then bring back flight comander too!
KIBeast Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 CoastersNSich, if that SOB photo is from the 13th, then the loop has not gone anywhere. Or, is that when it was posted?
