kjkjkj Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 maybe they had been planning on the removal of the loop for a while, and thats why King Cobra's track supposedly left the grave yard, to make room for the loop pieces lol Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 ^ It didn't leave the graveyard. I ask an official about that. Quote
Skywriter Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I thought about something maybe they could make the rides just a little bit longer and it coul be the new longest coaster. It almost beat The Beast . Quote
CoasterKrazy Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Coastercrazy, I hope that was sarcasm. Not entirely. I never really enjoyed Beast or Son of Beast, so I assumed I was more of a steel coaster kind of guy. After having ridden Raven, Legend, and Voyage at Holiday World, though, I now know that a painful experience is not inherent in wooden roller coaster design. These three coasters were amazingly comfortable and very exciting. In my opinion, neither can be said for the members of The Beast namesake. As has been discussed on other sights, Beast too suffers from exceptionally heavy trains, hence the re-profiling and trimming. I'm willing to give Son of Beast one more go (despite the removal of the loop) if new trains are delivered. The same can be said for Beast. Quote
PKIVortex Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I'm a little disapointed at the removal of the loop. But whatever it takes I guess do it. I just hope they do something decent going into the second helix. Quote
Jasper Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 All i can say is wow i am really shocked about hearing this. i would really like to see the track branch off where the loop is and go off into another helix or something. but that would probably cost a lot. i wonder if they will remove the brake run right before where the loop is or use to be. Quote
PkiJake13 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I would assume the track gage is the same as other coasters built by RCCA, some of those are getting or have already recieved Intamin trains. I wish it could be extented and run three trains. -Jake Quote
Discodude3737 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Hopefully SOB experiences the same sort of turnaround that came with the removal of OTSR's from Flight of Fear in '01. I have a feeling this is definitely going to be an interesting season. Quote
Jasper Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 So far i would have to vote this one of the most if not the most interesting off-seasons yet. Quote
Reclaimer Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 That's for sure! Helps the off season fly by, though. Only a little more than 4 months to go! Quote
PKIVortex Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I agree. Okay so we know now that Son of Beast will be loop less come 2007. I wonder how long it's going to take to complete the rest of the modifications and have this beast ready to roll. Quote
coastergirl Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 You guys know your coaster better then I do so I don’t even know if this would work, but, is it possible to use trains like Lightening racer from Hershey Park? That coaster was a great wooden coaster and it was very smooth. Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 http://mousetimes.com/dlrpictorials/12_12_06/index.html It looks like the C.A. Screamer has lost it's loop also. Quote
Braves0511 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 So...i am a bit bummed out about this...but you know what this means?! A new [loopless] logo!... Quote
Legend Rider Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 is the amusement industry loop-removal-happy? Quote
standbyme Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Mark my words... the tide will turn and people will begin to recall "fondly" their rides on SOB "back in the day." Shaggy I hope I live that long...those will be good times! Quote
pki number 1 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I cannot believe that they are going to take the loop out. :-( Its the only good bad thing that has happend I think. I wish that they (The Park), would find a different way to re-design the ride but keep the loop. Quote
coasterlova054 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 But they can't really do that can they with the new trains they are going to get? aren't they going to be non-hybrid? Quote
Vortex Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Good thing I got the SOB pin with the old logo at last week of the season. Quote
WooferBearATL Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 And imagine - the scoop was actually on www.pkicentral.com about two weeks before the word came from the park. I'm guessing the next big announcement will be that X Flight is coming to the park (something which has been bantered around here for weeks) and thanks to our eye in the syk (Nemo) kinda confirmed the other day. coaster1robert Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Well, that's Cedar Point for you, when they bought dorney park, they change Hercules the wooden coaster second drop, they changed the ride was never popular again, and tore the ride down. Robert Quote
Reclaimer Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Umm..this isn't a problem Cedar Fair created, and neither was Hercules. Cedar Fair is just trying to fix the problem. Quote
RailRider Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Son ofa Bit*h Well Im still upset and in disbelief, because I absolutely loved the loop on SoB, mainly because for those few seconds your internal organs werent being liquified, but now KI will have a massively rought Hyper Woodie. Interesting its Mean Streak on Steriods. I hope that the changes being made will greatly improve the ride quality and smoothness of the ride, especially through the first rose bowl. Cant wait to expeirence the new version of SoB next year and see if its better with or without the loop. Quote
cincyboy0830 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I'm thrilled that the loop will be gone. They will be strengthening supports and put smoother running trains on the tracks. It will be nice to ride without worying about getting *pinched* - Ouch! Quote
Skywriter Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Now my nut will not feel like a pancake when I get off I hop. JK .lol Quote
