Cory Butcher
I have to completely agree with you, The most themed park that I have ever been to was Busch Gardens, an absolutely beautiful park. You have a section completely themed in Safari Africa with Rhino Rally and all of the animal viewing experiences on the Train, and there was a completely colonial American area with the Cleidsdales and history. There was a completely themed Egyptian area with Montu, a complete Nile area with Kumba, and Python, and a completely themed Moroccan area with sandy villages and Scorpion, aside from Disney, Busch Gardens truly knows how to run an amusement park, and yet they have another business venture in Anheuser Busch, but they dont let it effect the amusement park, they run the businesses together not using their theme parks as a promotional tool. Well almost... It is impossible to find a Coors Light in the park! BG does have one policy that I love, you can have a beer while waiting in line. The Interpreter
Welcome mwhinva! I'd love to introduce you to WooferBearATL. Y'all think a lot alike. And I totally agree with what you have to say about Kings Dominion (and by implication, Kings Island and Carowinds...). I actually have extremely low expectations of Cedar Fair in the entertainment arena. I hope they at least meet those.... Some of the lowest quality, least memorable entertainment I have ever seen has been at Cedar Fair parks. From the laser show at Cedar Point to what passes for entertainment in the Red Garter Saloon to the shows at Dorney, I have found even CBS's idea of theme park entertainment exceeded those in quality! Oh, well....it's a new Cedar Fair and a new day. I certainly hope they surprise me (and you!)
raptor
I can't wait to see what Cedar Fair does, Hopefully a real restaurant. Cedar Fair is a great organization, and it can't get any worse than it did with paramount. I'd like to see it go back to an old amusement park feel, instead of a theme park (please get rid of the movie themes)
CoastersRZ
Go back to an amusement park feel? Last time I checked, when the park opened in 1972, it had themed areas, and was called a theme park. True, over the years the themed areas, with the exception of Nick U. and Boomerang Bay, have deteriorated somewhat, there still are themes. So it is still a theme park, although much less than it was back in the 70`s. I agree that the movie themed rides scattered throughout the park do not add much to the atmosphere of either the rides, or the park. I have faith that over the next couple of years, Cedar Fair will improve Kings Island. Heck, if the recent indications are true about revamped entertainment, and keeping Paramount`s smart way of handling passes are any indication of the future, I think we have nothing to worry about. Purplehaze
Even though CF shows are reguarded by many as wasteful, it still adds to the atomosphere, there is alot more to a park than just rides... Shows, food.....Just things you wouldnt see on a daily basis.
CoastersNSich
As for the season pass issue, I hope KI opens its Season Pass center a week or so prior to April 21. I would be surprised if they did not open the season pass center early. CP opens theirs at least 1 week early if not 2 weeks before the park opens. On the other hand, CP's season pass center is the definition of pure chaos the first couple week of the season due to the inadequate building that the center is in and the lack of processing equipment. Perhaps that is the reason that CP opens the pass center early. Answering my original concern and your comment, I can say per Marueen Kaiser (at No Coaster Con) that the Season Pass Center at Kings Island will NOT be opening early. I hope that will change, but don't count on it. However, if you have your temporary season pass card, you can go ahead and enter the park - you do NOT need to go and have your permanent ID made in order to enter, but sooner or later, they recommend it. And as far as KI or CP removing major thrill rides... A majority of us can only speculate why any park needs to remove a ride. CF is removing X-Flight from GL possibly due to low attendence. And with low attendence, why keep a major thrill ride a park that cannot support it? In other words, if a ride costs $15 million, but the return on investment is poor, move it to a larger, more popular park where it will see much more action, and chances are, people will flock to the park to get on the "new" ride. Low attendance is exactly why X-Flight is becoming Firehawk. Which sounds more appropriate, 750,000 supporting 10 coasters, or 3+ million supporting 13 coasters? Busch Gardens Europe has some great thrill rides, but not numerous thrill rides. But IMO, it is one of the best parks in the country, not due to the thrill rides, but due to the atmosphere that the park generates. It is a beautiful park that is very clean and well themed. I go there for the rides, but for the most part, I go there for the atmoshere. KennyWood and Hershey are also examples of parks just like this. They are truely great parks. BGE's slogan could easily be "Quality, not Quantity." I have yet to visit Kennywood, therefore I have problems. Hersheypark? Make sure you go on a dry, not too busy day. The Interpreter
Yep! Great coaster it is. I suspect Maverick will be very similar, except more so!

The Interpreter
To get this back on topic a bit, I can easily see a Storm Runner type coaster at Kings Island some day. It would be a great addition.
tubaman
Has anyone ever ridden storm runner at hersheypark? No, and I'm mad about it. I got to go to Hershey the year Storm Runner opened. It was absolutley pouring rain that day. Well, they didn't open it, or, if they did, it was later in the day. I did ride Great Bear, and love it! I also like the height restriction system at Hershey, and candy samples. To get this back on topic a bit, I can easily see a Storm Runner type coaster at Kings Island some day. It would be a great addition. There is an idea. You could do a lot with terrain theming with that as well.
pkitrumpet08
adding a ride like storm runner to ki would really bring something special to the park. storm runner is a very different type of ride and ki doesnt have anythign remotely like it. also at hersheypark they have a water rollercoaster. that thing is so awesome. what do you think about bringing something like that to ki? Having chosen to not ride RollerSoaker, (now that I think back, I was already soaked from the rain so I might as well have.) I don't know what it is like on the ride. Now, I did have fun spraying people from underneath the ride. It's just when the abillity to get others wet falls into the wrong hands. (bucket at GWL) Hershey park, in my eyes seems to do things right in a lot of areas, although, I have only been there once, but it was fun. They also had a wild mouse coaster that was pretty fun.
