Maverick Pullthrough

Recommended Posts

Trains are on the track and the pullthrough process has begun. Notice that the trains are mocked up with clearance boards. Should be interesting to see when full scale testing begins or if they will wait till warmer tempretures happen.

Heres a link to the CP Webcam. Notice the trains sitting at the base of the lift.

This is what KI should of recieved instead of IJST. All they needed to do is spend a few more millions! It looks like a great ride and I hope I can make it to Cedar Point this year!

I'm sure the "P" company would've loved to do that. Why build a crappy coaster to promote a movie of ours when we can build a fun, exspensive coaster.

I've heard so many people think that this is going to be a lame coaster because it isn't breaking any records, I've seen people post things like, i'm looking forward to having a mild ride i can take the whole family on, I think those people will be shocked, this going to be an awesome coaster.

I agree with you about maverick going to be an awesome ride. I think a lot of coaster fanboys get to narrow minded when it comes to coasters. I like an amusement parks that offer various coaster experiences from the super high thrill to the unique milder heavily themed coasters. I think embracing all the different coaster types it allows the creators to explore and develop new unique coasters with out a narrow minded view.

Family ride that does not look like.

I think it looks great.

Why do people think this is going to be a family coaster? 70 m.p.h., two launches of that caliber, inversions, insane drops, and an intense lay out. Sounds like a great coaster sure, but it seems like they still think they can build the thrill seekers delight and expect families to come. Cedar Point heres a hint....you want families to come....actually build some rides for the kids and get some decent guest relation employees.

I don't think they ever have said that Maverick was intended for the family? Also, by the looks of things, I'd say its safe to assume that PLENTY of families make the trek to the Point. Honestly, I feel they have more to offer in terms of family attractions than PKI does. The Point still has an outstanding collection of flat rides, most of which are very much family friendly. PKI's family friendly caters more to little kids......leaving the older kids out in the cold.....of course Avatar would be the exception to this. I think the Point has a well rounded selection and should change nothing in the way they are doing things. I'm still trying to figure out why they should get decent guest relating employees? I went to the Point way more than PKI last season and I've always had great experiences there......

Sure CP is a great park, dont get me wrong, I absolutely love it and enjoy it but its not geared towards the family in any way. Yeah they have some great flats but its only for the family if all your kids are over the age of 12. They claim to have two kiddy sections but in all honesty Wonder Park in the Cincinnati mills mall has more stuff for the younger kids. IMHO KI has a more well rounded selection. I've had great experiences with their rides and merchandise employees but Guest Relations was a pain to deal with when I went, quite the opposite at GL for me....at GL guest relations was great while thier rides employees for the most part were pretty lack luster. Flightofear1996, CP doesnt outsource most of their jobs, they're not sending any positions over seas. The jobs are still there, and yes many international workers come to work there, however they are not the majority in the park.

I completely respectully disagree, I think Cedar Point is the most family geared park, I mean they have so many things people of all ages can do together, at Kings Island my parents in their 60's can do very little. They don't have a descent restaurant, the train is a joke anymore just transport to water park, the shops stink, they took out milder rides like the antique cars, at Cedar Point my parents have plenty to do not to mention a lot of stuff they can do with their grandkids other than standing and watching. they have an awesome train to ride, nice shops, a nice boat ride, the skyride, 2 antique car rides, the spiraling tower, terrific shows, nice places to sit down and eat or have a coffee, things an entire family can enjoy together, as for kids how can you complain they have 2 kid coasters not to mention all the rides I mentioned older people can ride are good for kids too in addition to the childeren geared rides, Kings Island does have some cute kids rides added in the last few years, that doesn't mean cp doesn't have plenty for kids to do, plenty, Kings Island kids rides are great for older kids but they're almost a little wild for the real little ones 2 to 3 years old. Don't get me wrong I love Kings Island, but if I were taking my whole family all my elders would have absolutely nothing to do.

Some Cedar Point fans are so used to record breakers that the see a high hill of 100 feet and think it's a kids ride, they don't realize that you have to do something different, this ride should have different thrills they can't just build another dragster and add a few feet, I like how low to the ground this will be i think you'll have the sensation like your going to hit the ground at 70 mph

But Peanuts Playground has no rides. It's basically well.......a playground.:D

Jr. Gemini area could be kind of combined with Camp Snoopy since they're right next to each other. Although I could understand both sides of the argument. I remember when I went to Cedar Point though, they didn't have enough staff to run the entire Jr. Gemini area, so they switched between the rides all day.

I agree with Combat though, CP could use some more children/family rides. They haven't updated any of their kids areas in about 8 years I want to say. I don't think their current kids rides are bad or that there aren't enough, but there really isn't much that everyone can ride together. There are the big coasters, (most of which have at least 48" requirements) and then there are the kids rides, which many bigger people can't ride.

most kids 6 years and up are tall enough to ride costers such as iron dragon and a couple others, under 6 the other rides should be pretty fun

Just because they're tall enough doesnt mean they want to ride it, I could ride The Beast at age 7...did I wanna try that? No. I didnt ride The Beast till I was 12 when I finnaly got over my fear of coasters. Plus there needs to be a variety for everyone. Grandparents want to take thier grand children to the park and share the day with them....I think theyd prefer more gentle rides as opposed to Iron Dragaon....and what about children with special needs....they may be tall enough for Iron Dragon but who knows if their condition permits them. Your argument is flawed and invalid.

argument not flawed, most grandparents do not want to ride the iron dragon, very true that is why they have many rides like the train, the sky ride, the paddleboat excursion, ferris wheel, the tilt a whirl, the calypso, 3 carousels, the woodstock express, the scrambler, 2 antique car rides, the spiral tower, matterhorn, monster,

however the persons argument was about the kid rides not being thrilling enough for bigger kids, well if you want more thrills ride the bigger rides, if you want to ride with your grandparents there is plenty to do as mentioned above,

you'd be hard pressed to come up with that many things grandparents can do at Kings Island, they keep taking those rides out.
