I work at KI and am returning this season for my 3rd year and I am Deathly frightened of coasters (fear of heights) and I want to check out this ride but am afraid to. Just go on it, you are so secure in these trains its rediculous, yes, you will go up to a certain height, but all you have to realize is that your fear of heights is not a fear of heights it is a fear of falling! This is not going to happen, as I mentioned earlier you are strapped in on coasters so tight you wont get out, and you just need to realize that you will end the ride in the exact same place that you boarded it. From what I understand only two cars will be used, this is going to create a capacity nightmare you will not believe. It is a good one time gimmick ride after than it’s just OK. The Interpreter Posted February 6, 2007 Share Posted February 6, 2007 The trains won't be stacking very often, if ever...assuming the dual loading station is built as it existed at Geauga Lake...while one train is out on the course, the other is being loaded. Am I crazy? lance stevenson Your not crazy at all. I love coasters, yet I height heights. The first ride when I'm at the park, I think to myself "I can't believe I'm about to do this. Up 100 plus feet on a wooden structure that is over 25 years old..." But, the second we're done with the drop, I'm almost ashamed to think that I was afraid 5 minutes ago. I hate heights, so I hate climbing the hills. I don't mine the drop, I just hate climbing the hill. That's why Flight of Fear is great.... no hill to climb. Stardust Posted February 6, 2007 Share Posted February 6, 2007 Probably the thing I like to remember is that these guys who make the roller coasters know what they're doing (in terms of death, now back injuries, apparently that's another thing). You have a better chance of dying along Route 71 getting there than at the park itself. I was the same way, until one fateful day at the park when I rode Vortex...and the rest is history. My advice: just go for it! Start out small, of course, but if you're going to keep your fear from letting you experience something awesome, then you're probably going to have a bum day. You'll be working at the park, so you'll probably get a daily look at how that thing runs when it starts running past Memorial Day. Get used to it, and then go for it! The restraint system is uncomfortably tight. Your first time on, it will feel like you are dangling by your ankles. But heck, my attitude is, if your on it, you might as well stick your arms out and fly like Superman. If the restraint fails, your a dead duck no matter if you are holding on or not. Ha ha! The same can be said about an Impulse coaster, Vekoma Boomerang, B&M Flyer, Shuttle Loop, stand-up coaster, suspended coaster, looping wooden coaster, or a floorless coaster. Sure the novelty can wear off after awhile, yet we still love all of those rides, I'm sure we'll love Firehawk too. Firehawk will do what it is supposed to, and that is to get people through the entrance gates. I think Firehawk will be awesome, and I can't wait to come down to Kings Island this summer and ride it. As far as the original topic goes, if your scared to ride something, sometime's you just have to do it if it's something you really want to do. Just about every enthusiast has that one ride that got them going. For me, I swear if The Beast would just end where the second lift starts, and there were no double helix, I probably would have never ridden another coaster again... ever. It's Cincy's time to fly. You are quite observant Reclaimer! I AM bitter and I will always be bitter at how CF is treating guests of not only GL but all their parks. I guess you don’t get it, but you eventually will. No matter how good KI ops are that thing will stack like crazy and I will be the first one to remind you the day after it opens. Borg hasn't become rough. Batwing hasn't become rough. These are Vekoma's. They are not butter smooth to start with. There is shakiness, in a good way. When I rode the flight back in 2001 it was smooth as glass but when I rode it this past summer it gave me a few shakes and bumps. The only thing I will miss about X-Flight is walking into the park and hearing the click click click of it going up the lift and then hearing the screams...but then there's always Villain. Perhaps the worst is on Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure. To me, it just feels like a horrid tracking mistake. Somehow, when Harry Traver did it, it looked much more severe...and fun! Before I went to Cedar Point last May, the biggest roller coaster I had been on was 80 ft tall. The first one I went on at CP, was, of course Millennium Force. I was literally praying as we climbed the 310ft hill...but it ended up being AMAZING. I am now so addicted to coasters, and I attribute that to MF. It's my favorite ride ever, and I was so close to not trying it! The point: Go on Firehawk and whether you like it or not, at least you were brave enough to try.
