I rode FoF 2 times yesterday (6/1) and something happened both times which I never ever remember happening before. For some reason, the car was brought to a complete stop at the mid-ride brake run near the top of the building and then allowed to slowly to inch its way out of the brakes and continue on its course. I'm not sure if I like it or not but it was definitely unexpected. Has anyone else experienced this or know why it was changed to this (at least on 6/1).

I noticed it too the couple time I have ridden this year. Someone told me they think they train is too fast to the first mid-stop or the loading, unloading is very slow at the start of the season.

But did you notice when you are up there stopped the track sways a bit? That was a little freaky.

Unfortunally this has been happening for several years now. As to why it's doing it, I don't know.

Really? I don't remember it happening Saturday (Firehawk opening). But then again I was on the first ride of the day but I don't know if that would matter.

I've just noticed it this year. I don't like how it almost stops, but it does make the ride last longer. IMO they should just be used to slow the train, not stop it or nearly-stop it.

Yea, i noticed it. The first time i rode it this year, in about 2 years, was in the front and when i stopped i was yelled "Its not supposed ot stop, is it?" I was freaking out, but liked it because as you inch forward you start to tilt, which i enjoyed.

It is launching faster, so I think that its completely stopping because of the excess speed.

As for the load/unload cycle being the cause, thats false. The coaster is actually set up for 3 trains (station to midcourse, midcourse to final, final to unload, unload to turnaround before load, turnaround to station.)

I've been stopped there before. IIRC it used to happen more frequently when the ride was still new. I seem to remember being shocked during the 1998 season when we didn't come to a complete stop.

I'm torn on this one. I hate the fact that it comes to almost a complete stop but at the same time I do like the inching forward bit especially in the front seat.

Yeah, I actually like the complete/almost-complete stop. When you start inching forward out of the brakes and down the next drop, the angle and banking on said drop almost makes it feel like you're going to fall out of the train. I like that feeling because it gives the ride kind of a unique element - the Falling-Out-But-Not-Really-Falling-Out Drop!

I also agree that the first half of the ride is jerky. I also think one train is launching faster then the other. I rode it 5 times on the 18th of May, and on my last ride, I rode in the second car. I could barely keep head or neck control. During the first inversion my head was push down cause of all of the g's. It hurt too.

Hang time. But I could see them trimming some of the speed off the train, but to the point where it comes to a complete stop, kills the rest of the ride.

Due to my short stature, my head would hit both sides of the restraint at the top of my ears-talk about pain! But so far this year, i have not had that problem. I noticed it being smoother this year as well. I will not ride it if the trains are only half full-weight does make a difference.

I don't think I really mind it at all but at first I thought the ride broke down and we were going to get stuck at the top. So I was kind of mad we kept going :P
